People who really wish to promote the use of a linux distro. need to provide a decent, reasonable amount of time for a good demo. Otherwise, it's like walking into a toy store and seeing all of the fanciful stuff that's usually worthless there.

An explanation should be provided in the video for what's really happening when we see PCLinuxOS shown in cube form. What's the purpose? Also, a really good demonstration would also say what good apps are available on or with, or at least suited for, the distro; like, video and audio players, office apps like OpenOffice, etc., the kind of apps a lot of people use and need. After all, eye candy doesn't necessarily mean the distro. is of practical usefulness.
@Whopzer um... I know Linux runs on PCs. I just said it cant compare to a PC. Are you familiar with the word compare? And also the United States is better than Sweden. That was not necessary to insult me or my country either. Maybe you can take toning down your attitude into consideration?
@jameswx09 To PC what? A PC is a computer. An operating systems is not a computer, machine, it's software that runs on a machine. So what are you talking about, for of course no OS compares to a machine?

Try Open SUSE 11.1 it's much much improved than it's previous edition (10). Everything looks and works ok, although you have to install the new adobe flash manually. It has both KDE 3 and 4. I have the KDE 3 which is more stable.
@hrbear What else does OpemSUSE 11 have besides the little you've mentioned? To really promote it, a person needs to state what there are for multimedia players, office and Internet software, etcetera; the kinds of apps most people use and need. I'm fairly confident that it's a good distro. and, as far as I know, it's the main competitor with Red Hat for enterprise linux distros. CentOS also is, but I don't know, at all, what kind of enterprise linux market share the company is getting.
@hrbear Also, it's a good idea to clearly keep in mind general user vs enterprise needs, for not all of the big distros are as well suited for persinal, individual use as some, if not many, other distros are. When promoting a product or service, it's important to do so in a way that is fitting for the market we're speaking to. Mandriva, according to linux (dot org) and I believe also distrowatch (dot com) is very good or great and very suitable for personal use, f.e.
Not yet - but I will as soon as I get my main 'puter going again. Upgraded my wife & she ended up with my memory stick - Lol! (Right now I'm using a box my neighbor threw in the trash and saving up for some parts).
TinyMe is making this old trash can 'puter run great!
Looking good! I can't wait until it's released. PCLinuxOS 2007 REPLACED WindowsXP on my desktop.
I migrated by putting each on a separate hard drive. Left the side cover off the computer & switched cables to boot XP or PCLOS. After 3 months PCLOS was all I was using.
Hey Trat50 have you ever donate to Pclinuxos? I think the only thing pclinuxos is missing is financial backing. If we had the financial backing that Ubuntu had then Pclinuxos will be number one!!

If your skin is crusty and your house is musty, then PCLinuxOS is for you.
If your mind is weak and your outlook bleak, then PCLinuxOS is for you.
If you're old and your computer will fold, then PCLinuxOS is for you.
I always wondered what it would look like if all the residents of a resthome got together and made their own linux distro.
System Requirements include must be senile and 85 years old to install PCLinuxOS.

What compiz swiggly window is getting so old haha.
It's actually annoying to use when you're trying to do something serious.

Can you show a PCLinuxOS 2009 demo? Not a demo of compiz or beryl?
xelanil 3 years ago 3
I will be showing a demo of PClinuxOS 2009 gnome edition soon :).
twitch6000 2 years ago
I used PCLinuxOS 2007, but I found Windows XP was better and easier.
I may try Linux again someday.
Out of all the Linux I tried, PCLinuxOS 2007 was deficiently the best.
