  • Brain Hemerage.

  • ....Just an FYI for people thinking if you had this object in your had you'd witness the same illusion.

You wouldn't. Why? Because you have two eyes at a distance apart, and therefore have 2 perspectives and focal points on any given object.

Now - Close 1 eye, and you could witness this in real life. But this works on camera because there is only 1 perspective.

  • Except... the Escher Cube is all STRAIGHT lines (as imagined and drawn) with 90° angles and this has curved lines.

Even a pause at 0:00 shows the curves where the lighting changes.

Plus, the bottom/top corners aren't smooth with the "vertical (looking)" lines, and in the Escher Cube they are. (If you look, you'll see it.)

Nice representation though, but it isn't a true Escher Cube, even by first appearances of an Escher fan.

  • There is no good solution for it well not in 3d because escher draw ed the cube

  • they should sell these

  • It's not a cube anymore! :D

  • krap

  • that is poible but just in sight

  • Clever idea, but you could see its not and the bends in 0:00

  • goddam fuck

  • Your using Youtube two prove your supreme power. (A) if you had a girlfriend what are you doing bragging on Youtube, and (b) you have no life: so over used, please gve me proof hat he has no life, a comment takes 5 seconds to make, not a whole day (it's called time).

  • This doesn't work properly. It 0:00, when the cube doesn't move, you can still see the trick. You can see the tilt of each of the lines. And its impossible to get rid of this whatever you do.

Stil its a nice illusion and a good idea.

  • he probably had it tilted a very tiny bit in the beginning.

like he started moving the object then started recording

but, i see why you would think that

  • No, the problem is, that there is a slight twist in the whole Object. You can see it when you watch the movie at 0:10. Therefore the vertical lines are allways tilted a bit. There is no possible perspective to look at this cube, without noticing the tilt.

  • No, I don't think so. It is easy to move some vertices around to make perfectly straight lines in the camera's starting location. That by its very nature will create a possible perspective to look at the cube without noticing the tilt.

  • Yeah, didn't notice that at first but your right. probably the best you can do though.

  • e a graça?

  • ...?

  • Really? ur gonna rag on me for being bored...all i did was copy it from another comment on one of my videos...

and i do have a girlfriend, we've been dating for two years and before her i had 5 others... so Fuck You

  • well duh

  • lol

  • can you post a vid of the same animation but whit a fild cube ?

  • It's called solution because this is supposed to be an object that can only possibly exist in 2 dimensions. If you're confused, pause the video at 0:00 and look at the figure for a few seconds. The person who decided to show this in 3 dimensional rotation took the time and energy to figgure out that it IS possible to make an object like that, even if it only looks like that from a specific angle. I would love to see one of these in real life that would be cool. Five stars!

  • i did what u said and i stared at the cube and my head exploded

  • mine too

  • i did whatyou said again butthis time the whole upper half of my body exploded

  • Cool!!!

  • unsolved

  • Mother Fucker

  • i have no idea what just happened

  • impossible thing to create with human hands can only be drawn or like this shown off a computer program

  • ooooooooo

i ust watched it again and i GOT IT!

    thanks! :)

  • clearly you can make it if its been rendered in 3d

  • in a program yes and drawing it, but if u try to do it like sculpting or some other form that u can do with ur hands , u wouldnt be able to becuz of how each piece fits to another and how the edges start and end

  • @Anzu101: I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to make that out of metal, in real life.

  • wel from each perspective it looks like it would be able to be made(in flat terms) each perspective is a diffrent shape and angle so tech this couldnt be made becuz each perspective of the sides and agnle are a diffrent form, the reason this looks like it could be made is becuz when in a 2-day perspetive each side looks correct but is more of umm its more of an illusion of the eye since we can only see in a 2-d or 3-d at one time which is why we can tell what is drawn and what is real in a sense

  • it can be made. look on google.

  • What he means is that, sure, you CAN make this with metal, BUT in order to achieve this illusion, you need to stand in one, and ONLY ONE, position. No other positions work.

  • no. he doesn't, and yes, I know that

  • That is stupid

  • ...HELP! trippin!

  • Why is this called solve?

  • Look at what cyberspace17 said to get my point.

  • Actually freehugs42 has some logic. I am not a physicist, but surely, there might be some sense to this. This is a 3-d image projected on a 2-d plane and is thus impossible in the third dimension, like a lot of Escher's illusions. But in the fourth dimension, with an extra axis on the coordinate plane, this might be possible, because our senses cannot genuinely perceive it. Once again, I am just speculating, but it's possible, if you forget the the dimension's association with "hypercubes"...

  • You're correct about the 3d onto 2d "mapping", but there is no reason why this can't be reproduced in 3d space. I mean you can actually see how everything is formed in this video, you'd simply have to recontruct it. It's confusing simply because it resembles a wireframe cube, but is built in an odd way. What you think/?

  • that is so trippy o_O

  • if this is a 3d solution to a 2d illusion, the bars can´t be of equal thickness in the 3D solution, or am I just saying something strange here?

  • WTF was dat~!??

  • Why should be this 3D structure impossible? In fact it seems that only 2 vertical bars in diagonal position are linked to the opposite corner of the upper square.

  • coooooooool

  • can i get one at walmart

  • Can i get one at walmart

  • Doesn't it require 4 dimensions to do something like this?

  • no...

  • freehugs42 you are retarded. 4 dimentions is completly different.

  • hahahahahaha 4 dimension??? the human eye can only see 3 dimensions

  • ...The human eye can only see 2 dimensions, and make a projection of the 3rd dimension because of the difference between the two pictures we get. The projection gets even better if we get more pictures over time. But still: the eye only sees 2 (two) dimensions. (We can make projections of and imagine the 4. dim. too)

  • From your post I deduce you are either a physicists working on quantum mechanics or a real dumb...

  • u guys write long comments

  • i know

  • This shape is another Impossible shape, can pretty much never be reconstructed, rather like a tesseract (wikipedia that if you dont know what it is) if percieved in 3d reality without being drawn, it will overload all synapses in the human brain as it is inpercievable.

  • No, it's possible, these 3d models have been constructed plenty of times!

The only reason we can't "make a hypercube" is because it's something totally different, an object our minds cannot perceive very accurately..

    You're being really pseudo-intellectual..

  • Actually, yes I am being pseudo-intellectual. I know nothing about this and posted this comment as a shtick from one of my uber-nerdy friends, Trent (xxGuinto on Youtube)... sry :0

Ask Trent, he'll tell you haha :D. Srry for all this... I'm stupid, I know it and I won't listen to him again. Fortunately, this is a website where the majority of users don't pay attention to comments, let alone random comments about 20-second videos related to stuff I don't understand. So I'm sorry. :-(

  • Who are you?!

Saying you solved the MC CUBE?

You have just done what hundreds of other youtubers have done.

You put it into a lame computer program and said its solved.

It is an impossible 3D object shown on a 2D plane.

Furthermore its not a puzzle and therefore can't be solved. It is just a curiosity.

When you build a THREE DEMINSIONAL model of the cube then I will be impressed. Til then X-P

  • I meant a physical three dimensional model thats not on the computer. That is made of something besides 1's and 0's. Can it really be called a "cube" if the sides are curved/bent/not straight/crooked ,any way?

  • That's the whole point. MC's cube is not a cube.

  • I meant a physical three dimensional model thats not on the computer. That is made of something besides 1's and 0's. Can it really be called a "cube" if the sides are curved/bent/not straight/crooked ,any way?

  • BUUUURRRRNNN!!!

  • i dont get it

  • So really. You could make a physical version for us and show us in a different video? Please?

  • Whoever di this is a genuis. Impossible can be achieved.

  • yeah they said that this didnt and wasnt able to exist in technolgy or the human world and dimention or sumthing like that.they said that it was impossible for it to be 3d and that it could only be 2d...just another reason that impossable is nothing

  • yeah 2 questions what is this supposed to be doiong and wat were u on while making it

  • pause at 0:00. that is a cube that everyone has believed to be an impossible construction, something that could only be represented on paper.

to answer your questions, this video reveals how it could exist in three dimensions, and we ALL need to get whatever that guy was on. Amazing.

  • And in fact, it is impossible... what you built is an object that creates an illusion. It is a very good solution though.

  • Only what you THINK the cube SHOULD be like in 3D is impossible. A 3D object that looks exactly like the picture from one angle obviously exists.

  • oops I meant this:

Only what you THINK the object pictured SHOULD be like (a cube) is impossible. A 3D object that looks exactly like the picture from one angle obviously exists.

  • the illusion or something like that... is that a piece stickin cube ithe

  • so...whats the puzzle here again?... x_x

  • pause in the very beggining thats the puzzle

  • Because 3 dimensional solutions seemingly impossible 2 dimensional illusions turns everyone on so much, I'm sure this is a great place to SPAM

  • Excellent!

  • Amazing...

  • !

THEY SAID IT COULND´T BE DONE

^_^ well who´s the idiot now!

  • boooooooring!

  • Nice, but the figure in question isn't an "escher cube," but rather a Necker Cube. Escher just used it in some of his art. Give Louis Albert Necker the props he deserves.

  • 4D - wow

  • This isn't 4d... it's 3d.
