@MegaPrincechris this song is about Bob Marley, thats where the reference to Zimbabwe comes from.Bob performed at the independance celebrations there in 1980.
Amazing talent indeed. I listened to his earlier version of this track and preferred it solely because the tempo was slower. He will always be a master showman.
It's original to Stevie - he wrote it after hanging out in Jamaica when Bob Marley was still playing live outdoor concerts. He mentions "Marley" in the song. I can imagine how it must have felt to be there, and be blind, and hearing that music down the block, etc. But check out the rest of the lyrics, they're heavy. Stevie's music is just super-charged genuis good energy.
Cover version of Bob Marley's Jamming....it's amazing, a whole new song but you can feel the essence of the reggae that inspired it...Stevie Wonder is a Genius
The only way that it resembles Bob Marley's Jamming is the fact that it's reggae and the song involves lyrics about jammin'. I believe he wrote this song after listening to Bob's music tho.
You're absolutely right that this song rocks tho! I can't stop listening to it.
jammma jamma... a jama jamma jamma... ah jamaa... so nasty. stevie wrote the book on r&b. had number one hits for the last half of the century. a true blessing.
This is one of my favourite songs of all time and one of my top 3 Stevie Wonder songs. Does anyone think that Stevie may have stolen the riff from Elvis Costello's "Watching the Detectives"? I think the similarity is too obvious to be chance!
I went to both the Manchester Concerts(Last one Oct 3rd) and countless others in the eighties and just had to say they were magnificent!!I was panicking in case this would be the last time we would see him in the UK but he hinted he would be back!!
Anyone out there who missed this visit DO NOT miss the next one....you will regret it!!
By far his best song!!

He made this song, in the 80 when white people were losing their batle against Mugabe. That why he say Peace has came in Zimbabwe.
