  • A nice video. I can add an interesting anecdote here. It is said that Kimura, just a moment before dropping his rook, shouted "Hisha(Rook!!!)!!!" Kinda raises your eyebrows, eh?

  • i wish you were in boston... im having a hard time finding a shogi set without going online...

  • I think it's so fast :)

Just a beginner, so i might be wrong, but probably pawn drop at 2b leads to checkmate.

  • at 7:24 , what happens when the king runs to 2a?

  • I think that shows two things: 1) Even pros make mistakes, and 2) It pays to stick it out with all but the most obvious endings.

    Right?

  • Please take 30 seconds to view the first ever promo video for Dayfame Celebrity and Luxury experiences, set to revolutionise the way people party in London! Please visit the website for more details!

  • Ooooh.... Shogi!!!! I need to learn strategies to win!!!

  • Habu made so mistakes maybe he was half asleep i m saying this cuz He is your country's champion

  • I really enjoy japanese culture, you help me understand it even more :) Arigatou, Hidetchi-san. (/ ありがとうございます <-- おそらく?) it's very hard for me to understand the spelling.. and I'm from Finland even thought that doesn't make a difference.

  • Well, mistakes happen all the time in any type of chess. Although I'm not a top western chess player, I play pretty strong and from time to time I make some of those blunders. Like Habu, I too notice the flaw and look at the ceiling (except that I feel like killing myself for such a "dumb" mistake). My point is that it happens, unfortunately.

  • I love it. I just got into shogi and i find it very stimulating and relaxing. iwas hoping i could learn some strategys from more advanced players.

  • Baah, i just watched this cause i like Naruto :P ... Shikamaru Plays Shogi ... and i just searched for it :P

  • Excelent English my friend. Great music too.

  • incredible mistake, hard to believe that one of the all-time best made it (i know, they are just people as well )

  • I find your videos very entertaining and interesting. Maybe it is the culture? Idk but great job man

  • music is good , also sencha (= neee

check out "traditional vocal and instrumental music" on filestube, it has kickasstracks, with shamisen, koto, biwa and vocals! (=

  • No link for the music?

  • did Habu ever say what made him move his king up the board? what was he thinking!?!?

  • where can i play and learn shogi with symbols, not with these words...

  • May I know where I can get the MP3 for this background music? Love it!

  • Personally, I LOVE the music!

  • what program are you using

  • where can I play this online?

  • Hey I was just wondering what program you are using ?

    Great Video By the way

  • Ahh. There goes Habu's Ryuuou title.

  • ありがとう ! I am just learning this game (and trying to learn a little Japanese at the same time) and I find your vids very helpful! This game was so interesting. That move was like something I would do but without all the great moves prior...

  • thank you for the video, i was wondering if you have some games of Satoshi murayama and kozo masuda, regards from Colombia

  • Hi.

All right. I'll look for their famous games as well.

  • Wow, he must've been falling asleep to make such a move, a bit funny and a bit suprising!

  • HIDETCHI I'm your big fan for what to do here. Your lesson about how to put pieces and etiquette are awesome.

I'm beginner shogi player but this famous games are helpfull too (not only for advance players). It's show me general direction of play and methods of thinking about game.

Thanks, good luck and greatings from Poland.

  • Thanks for leaving a comment, mandos-san.

    Enjoy my future videos, too!

  • The game is stored in 棋譜でーたべーす(Kifu database). The kid(ID# of Kifu) is 2768. Or if you come to my blog of "Takodori's entrance to Shogi World", you can find the link on one of the entries of December 21, 2008.

  • Thanks, takodori-san. A very good idea, as always, to tell the viewers its "kid". I think I'll put "kid" in the discription of each video.

  • which program was this?

  • I'm using "Gekisashi ver.6".

  • @HIDETCHI at 7:25 gote has Sx4c doesn't he?

  • oh my, what an interesting game! You went a little fast, but it was out of your control. I had to pause for almost every move near the middle of the game to try and see what the reasoning was behind every move. I think this new series will help me very much! Thank you once again for the lessons!!

Also, I've been practicing on Shogidokoro playing against the lesserkai engine. Is there a way to save the Kifu of the game? I want to copy/paste it into BCMShogi and analyze it.

  • Thanks, OverlordBaai-san! I'm glad you liked my new series.

And, Sorry about its speed. I wanted to put it in one video.

You're doing a very good thing to try and see the reasoning behind every move! But not all the viewes do it. I guess some viewers are only interested in the most critical parts. So I'll have to ask you to use 'pause' for each move...

Yes, of course you can save the Kifu in Shogidokoro. Try 'Save as...' in 'File' menu.

  • Thank you! I thought that saving the game on shogidokoro only worked for shogidokoro, I guess I was wrong! I also started watching Shion no Ou to keep myself interested in Shogi. Have you heard of it? It's getting pretty interesting.
