It's a bad choice if you want Achievments.

You see, if you let him live, later in the game he will become a "friend" - Not one you can take out for drinks and stuff, but he'll activate a side mission. Now, there are many more of these "friends" around the map, depending on you kill or who you meet in the story and whatnot.

If you don't care about Acheivements, then who cares?
