For me, it depends on the map. Maps with lots of buildings/hiding places (Ex. Scrapyard, favela, etc.), I prefer to use the chopper gunner whereas maps with LOTS of open space (Ex. Wasteland, Sub Base, etc.) I prefer to use the AC-130. All in all though, I still generally prefer the AC-130 over the Chopper Gunner because

A) In my opinion, its funner to use

B) All my chopper gunners seem to get shot down WAY too quickly (AC-130 has 2 flares, whereas the chopper gunner only has 1)

My opinion: AC-130 is usually better, unless you're playing in free-for-all. It flies in a predictable circle, but my Chopper pilot is always drunk or something, or else it gets shot down too soon. I don't think the Chopper is "nooby" like some people say, but it's actually less effective.

However, on maps like Wasteland or Favela, neither is better. People always camp in the little underground place in the middle.

1) Predator Missile - 5 Kill Streak

2) Harriers - 7 Kill Streak

3) Pave Low - 9 Kill Streak OR Chopper Gunner/AC-130 - 11 Kill Streak

And if your REALLY Good, you can try:

1) Harriers - 7 Kill Streak

2) Pave Low - 9 Kill Streak

3) AC-130/Chopper Gunner - 11 Kill Streak

the chopper gunner does not have a stupid pilot, it has a realistic pilot, for a slowly cruising apache would be a sitting duck for any SAM or AA weapon, where circling around makes it far more difficult to hit and would expose more of the map on the long term

really depends on the map; if the map is open, such as wastleland, then AC-130 is your best bet. it really isnt too hard to control it, you get the hang of it eventually. For chopper, I guess it is easier to get kills, but I think AC130 is cooler and scarier, imo.

If you know how to properly and effectively use the Ac-130, it can be more useful than the apache (chopper). With the Ac130, you can take people out hiding in buildings using the 105mm or the 40 mm.
