  • You could see the truth and sadness in Prez's eyes. He knew exactly what was happening.

  • I can't remember a sadder story in TV history than Dukie's

  • every drug addiction is like a sad tragedy

  • I cried when I saw that image of Dukie shooting heroin......so much potential just flushed down the toilet. One of the biggest tragedies of the whole series :(

  • but i called snatchbox =[

  • Damn you Prez. You should've adopted that boy. You should've marched his ass to school everyday in the morning and wait for him to come out. You should've... Damn it there was nothing anybody could've done!

  • @Budaphly Prez did enough for Duke. Like the principal said, they aren't his kids, and year after year there will be people like Dukie and he can't just adopt them all.

I personally wouldn't give the kid the money knowing where it will go, to drugs. He wants a rent check, or the check for the GED program, that I could do.

  • this makes me wonder how all crackheads use to be before they were crackheads

  • This shit made me cry and im a grown man

  • this is the saddest part of the wire.

  • dukie scenes made (make) me cry every time

  • Mr Prez reminds me of a young Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting

  • Bearded Prez is a boss.

  • @ShitWrangler lmao

  • sad

  • damn boy!...teacher must love your black ass!!!!!!

  • Don't they have a reception???!!!

  • After all that Prezbo wasnt mad at Dukie he knew what hes goin through his whole life, and even if he knew that Dukie s gonna trick him it was worth of tryin. And all that "Im not gonna see you again." Was just attempts to scare him and get him on the right way like Prezbo was always tryin to do with all of them, especially with Duke.

Remember theat scene when Prezbo find out about Duquans parents.

  • Out of all 5 seasons, this was the saddest scene.

  • 2:52, the look of pain and disappointment in Prez's eyes....

  • how the fuck can that nigga afford to maintain a horse, crazy shit.

  • Fuck, this scene hurt.

  • damnn dukie was the smartest out of them all .. he could've went to college.. shid its sad the way things turned out

  • The Wire = Best thing ever put in front of a camera

  • mike had to leave dukie because if you remember omar everybody he was close to got killed when they could not find him like butchie brandon and so forth , dukie the new bubbles how sad is this world god help us all please.

  • poor dukie!!!

  • a horse? the fuck?

  • dukie was weak and this without michael or anyone to be there with him all the time like his friends were this was bound to happen. he was weak so he surrendered to the drugs.

  • awww yeahhh that's the stuff.

  • Prez learned the stare. I didn't become a good teacher until I learned the stare.

  • In the entire plot with Dukie you kept thiking, "Dude, why don't you just fucking leave B-More?" I mean, what's the point? This kid can do anything he wants to do--he's really smart. But then you remember what Prop Joe says, "Why is it every nigger in B-More thinks leaving town is heading to Eastside". It's like you and I packing up and deciding to move to Antarctica on a whim. He never got a break in his life, and that was truly heartbreaking.

  • @soprisrb you cant just...leave no food ? ,, no home?

  • hahah, do u kno how much dope dude could get for that daym horse

  • theres no relation to bubbles. its a few circles, its called a t-shirt "design"

  • Prez looks way smarter wit this beard

  • whathefuck he gotta horse for?

  • @mynameisflick I belive it's called arabing. Merchants would sell stuff out of there carts on horse drawn carages. They use to do it long ago but apparently they still do. I may be wrong on some of this stuff so just look it up.

  • I'm growing a beard like Prez.

  • holy fuck...bubbles on dukie's shirt??! is david simon an intergalactic writer?!?! this is crazy...metaphors and foreshadowing for days jesus christ im about to order the complete series mad soon and watch this as much as i fucking want because its amazing

  • 2:47

He says he doesn't have the time to ge down there today, but he has the time to wait until morning till noon?

Its really sad. Prez knows just what hes going to be doing with the money, but its like a good bye. Also financially. Junkies can think you're a bank if you don't let them know whats up. So he told he that if he didn't see him there then they weren't friends anymore and to never come back.

I love the wire's character development. Pistol whipping a kid to a somewhat wise teacher.

  • @veldross1 Prezbo knows what's up. Dookie is trying to run game on him but Prez knows Dookie is just going to spend it on drugs. He knows that he is lost. The cash he gave him is pretty much his goodbye.

  • Dukie has bubbles on his shirt

  • @MrFlametuber17 symbolism?

  • @MrFlametuber17 good eye! the level of detail and thought in this series is remarkable.

  • @MrFlametuber17 Bubbles has dukie on his shirt

  • Prez is a good guy.

  • "I liked the way the surveillance camera is cracked, it represents Dukie as a character, once entering the school as a student, but now as a conflicted young man entering the harsh world of drugs"

...REALLY...i couldnt just happen to saying that it is compleltly fucked up that a school needs a buzzer, a security camrea and its a broken at that to let people in the front door, what security camera shot isnt blurry or fucked up in the wire? this is reading to deeply into it!

  • @Tris10 best thing was seeing prez's beard

  • I don't see why it's so hard to understand why Dukie became an addict himself. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention compiles drug use statistics regularly and the sad fact of the matter is that drug addicts usually come from a family with a history of drug use. Dukie's support system disappeared overnight. An orphaned 14 year old isn't going to find legal employment and Dukie would've turned out just like Randy if he became a ward of the state. He was doomed without Michael and Bug.

  • Prez looks aged. Was that intentional?

  • I keep thinking of Dukie at the amusement park with Michael and Bug. I guess it's like Bubbles said- " Thin line 'tween heaven and here "

  • Comment removed

  • everything just went in a full circle..dukie is following the junkie around just like johnny followed bubbles. its sad

  • The humane society let horses live in crack spots?

  • arabbers don't keep horses looking that nice

  • Dukie was one of my favorite characters on the show. I didn't understand how out of nowhere he decided to start using drugs. you would think after living with his family he wouldn't want to experience that again. It's like all of a sudden since he couldn't find a job he was just like fuck it im going to chill with this arab and shoot dope. it just seemed out of nowhere.

  • @lildadecounty305. Dukie is too young to get a job, has nowhere to live, and the junkies are the only people giving him work and a place to stay. At 14 his whole life is ruined. He's surrounded by people who seem to be able to escape their own misery though drug use, so he joins in, since there's nothing else to do. It's like what they say, "when in Rome". If he's high, he doesn't have to deal with the pain of his life being in shambles. I'm not saying it's right, but it's understandable.

  • @scarryterry yes i know he is surrounded by druggies, but you missed my point. if he really wanted to he could have talked to Prezbo about his situation and Im sure Prezbo would have helped him out. You can see in one of the episodes Prezbo tells Dukie to come along with him and register for classes. But Dukie chose to use drugs instead. So it was Dukie's choice to get into drugs, and that is why I made the comment earlier. It just seems out of character for him.

  • @lildadecounty305 You're also forgetting that Dukie probably doesn't want Prezbo to know about his problems. He looks up to Prezbo, so he would rather lie to him that be honest about his predicament. And Dukie probably believes at that point that his problem is small and he can manage it. Some part of him may even believe that he's eventually going to go to that GED program. But he has a lot of shame, and that's important to why he chose drugs over telling Prez.

  • This is excruciating.

  • It was so great seeing Prezbo again and to see that he really got the hang of the teaching thing.

  • that principal is a real cunt

  • prezbeard...

  • @Audhumla - almost reaching Cutty levels!

  • Cracked fuck.

  • This is so sad, the kid didn't stand a chance.

  • How come in season five they feel the need to remind everyone it's the future by giving the unseen characters beards. Seriously, Dennis, Prez and Colvin all get beard'd.

  • how come whenever i try to watch the wire online when i look it up on google, a show called the wire with a bunch of different people shows up, can anybody help me?

  • Dats fucked up how he turned out to be

  • DUKIE FIGHT LIKE A BITCH YO.

  • Goddamn. Dukie managed to hold out for so long... it sucks to see him finally give him.

But every man has his breaking point.

  • Wow he had to buzz he's way to get someone and I thought my school is bad with metal detector and shit!

  • @rippen100

I imagine it's probably cause of the Area the school is based in.

  • 2:46 You're waiting outside of the school for hours, you admit to having no job, no place of residence, and not currently attending school, but you don't have time to drive down to the education office?

    *sigh*

I feel bad for prezbo having to experience this obvious fiend sling. He knew he was gonna use the money like that I like to think that he gave it to him anyways as a goodbye gift, bu to also stress that if he walked the fiend trail he would no longer be his friend, period. Good scene.

  • Is someone knew than Dukie waw going to take Prezbo's money for heroin ? Because i was really think he will use money for his study. Even, when he get off Prezbo 's car and he goes with his new friend.

It was a amazing shok for me when i saw him with heroin

    Sorry for my bad english

  • @nalbandian99

I thought so too. I didn't even know it was Dukie at the end, I had to look it up..

  • I loved Prez. Sigh.

  • Such a bummer man Dukie was such a cool character but that

s HBO. Not everyone can't have a happy ending.

  • that 1 dislike came from a heroin junkie

  • From What ive seen...it seemed to me that most of the younger characters showed signs of most of the older charcters....

    Namond - Young Calvin

    Randy - Young Marlo

    Dukie - Young Bubbles

    Wallace - Young D'Angelo

    Michael - Young Omar

I think this illustrated the fact that every generation maybe different however the personalities and aura of some characters will always remain in the game.

  • @Secret911 The foreshadowing on Dukie becoming the new Bubbles is evident in this scene, with Dukies shirt having a bubble design.

  • @Secret911

I'd say Randy is closer to being a young Stringer or Prop Joe, due to his hold "legit" candy buisiness in season 4.

  • @Twisttheawesome And, of course, Randy and Prop Joe are related through Cheese.

  • @Secret911 how is randy like omar ?

  • This was very sad as a storyline but if you were Dukie and made it through all he did and was as potential filled and clever as him, would you get into heroin that quick? There didn't seem to much of a slide into it, it was just like "Yep I'm doing heroin with this junk man now" I didn't much understand that.

  • is dukie wearing a shirt with bubbles on it like fursighting that he is becoming the new bubbles?

  • @summers23R Yes, it is fursighting, you dumb shit

  • They play this so well. It feels like such a true relationship.

  • When I first saw Dukie shooting the Skag after requesting to enroll back to school I thought "Why would you fucking do that?" I thought Dukie was one of the smart ones.

  • Dukie shouldve just stayed with Michael. Either way, he probably wouldve died, but at least he wouldve been with his best friend. This makes me sad, I really liked Dukie.

  • this was so sad...

  • gotta love the teacher-beard

  • to depressing to watch

  • How do they afford to keep a horse when they're addicted to that shit? Don't horses cost a lot to feed?

  • @afterapplepicking The horse probably isn't being fed properly. Also, they get to carry a lot more scrap metal with the horse so it might even out. The question is, how did he get one?

  • @WillMillion15 the horse aint being fed properly alright! geddit? HORSE??

  • This stuff is deep.

  • The Wire videos on youtube are the only one's that actually have interesting and intellectual debate rather than morons saying moronic and dull things.

  • @TroutMaskReplicaa

I don't think many morons got past the first series.

  • @TroutMaskReplicaa

So true. I think that's why I enjoy watching these videos.

  • what episode was this ?

  • BEARD FTW!!!

  • Prez and Cutty parallel each other. They both got out of their respective games (a street soldier and a cop) and became teachers, but learned early on not to become attached to the pupils (Cutty w/ Michael; Prez w/ Dukie). They both only had one scene each in Season 5, but it showed how they grew as mentors to the youth.

  • Victim of the system. He was good with computers and maths, and now, he is a new Bubs.

  • This is the same Prezbo who pistol whipped a kid for leaning on his car.

  • @FallenFromGrace90 you know i thought the same thing after i watched season one..im like damn he turned into a teacher and shit

  • @FallenFromGrace90 hahahahaha that's so true i forgot about that shit

  • Isn't it odd that Namond is the one that made it and Dukie didn't? Ironic indeed.

  • I hated this....he was a cool kid.

  • dag this makes me sad i thought he was gona be some one....

  • damnnnnn boy teacher must love your black ass lol

  • There are teachers like this in the world, even in the hood. I had this teacher in high school, cool as hell. She knew I was pumpin but never looked down on me and always gave me those "you can do better" speeches. 2 years ago I went back to school to say wassup and basically show off how well I was doing, lookin' fresh wit my gold chain and jordans. I saw in her eyes she wasn't impressed but disappointed. Now I'm 20 and wish I would of listened to her.... cas' It's only fun at the beginning....

  • This kills me inside because after him, Michael, and Bug were separated he really couldn't fend for himself anymore because he had no one to turn to. I wish Prezbo would have helped Dukie and kept him away from this destructive path, and as everybody says, he is becoming the new Bubbles. ;_;

  • I liked the way the surveillance camera is cracked, it represents Dukie as a character, once entering the school as a student, but now as a conflicted young man entering the harsh world of drugs

    The Wire is genius

  • This is so sad, I'm kinda disapointed in Dukie, but I know that's just how it was gonna happen since he out on the street

  • Nice touch at the end with the original opening song "Down in a Hole" playing while he boots the dope.

  • Damn so basically the show continues after season 5 Mike became Omar and Duke became Bubbles shows u that the cycle never stops

  • As any junkie will tell you never trust a junkie.

  • this never would have happened if the school system wasnt trying to juke the numbers like the cops if only Dokie could of stayed in the grade class Prez was teaching insted of the school moving him up a grade because he was older then non of this would of happened or if he would of got that job like Poot but couldnt because he was to young this wouldnt have happened or if he could of still stayed with Micheal but couldnt because Mike had Marlos people after him so many lil things its sad

  • Comment removed

  • You can tell Prez is just hurting in this scene. He completely recognizes Dukie's behaviors becoming parallel to those of an addict, like how Dukie suddenly takes a step back when he offers to take him down to BCCC.

I feel sorry for Dukie, but I'm also really sorry for Prez to have invested so much into this smart kid only to see him crumble underneath the pressure of the game. It was painful to watch this on Prez's behalf.

  • @5ifth Fck Dukie. Jus another embarrassment to his race!

  • Breaks my heart. Dukie becomes the new Bubbles. Damn shame, a smart kid who had potential who knew he needed to get out of the street before it claimed him. It's incredible how they made parallels between the kids and some of the more prolific charcters on the street like Michael going the way of Omar. Poor prez too, he had hopes for Dukie and was willing to give him the chance, but the true police in him knew what was really going on. Poor poor Dukie.

  • I blame Michael for leaving him there.

  • @Reqrezentin What else was Michael supposed to do? If Dukie had stayed with Michael he would have became a liability and leverage for one of his enemies trying to find him. Similar to what the Barksdale Crew did to Brandon to get to Omar.

  • smh dukie is a junky

  • @ Lantho....WORD! LOL

  • prez looks way too god damn old compared to season 4

his head and facial hair is fucking white

  • @gauchebag

Teaching in the inner city isn't exactly stress free. It takes its toll.

  • dam duke my fav fuck up now but dats real life and bubbles he cool to he did not have no home but he made money but i really hate life but i really love my gf she make it a lil better

  • mr.prezbo should have taken dookie in mayb none of this would ever happen :(

  • @Igetsitin89 thats what i was sayin, the same how bunny took in namond

  • @Igetsitin89 there r probably tons of kids in this situation he cant just go and adopt them all. He helped Dukie a lot, but now he has another group of kids to worry about. Prezbo kind of reminds me of a doctor because its like, you cant get too close to the kids u teach in case they end up like this, just like doctors shouldnt get too close to patients because they might end up dying. But it would be great if Dukie made it out of his situation tho. And Randy. It was SO sad what happened 2 them

  • @dangboogie

I feel you man no homo but the wire is the best show period hands down do you agree?

  • It's sad that that's how there friendship ends. I love how it's so understated--no big, histrionic breakup; just a resigned look knowing that another good one has been lost to the streets.

  • That dude at 4:10 sound like someone from an old "Roots" or slave movie. " Damn, boy! Teacher must love your black ass." LOL!!!!!!

  • Ha damn boy that teacher must love yo black ass lol but that was fuckd up mr p helped that nigga out alot gave him a shower clothes food everthing and then he lies to him for drugs u outta be ashamed of yo self nigga

  • @Saints2520 thats what drugs do. gives u a automatic blind motivation to get money for more drugs. its like u dont even think about it no more. somethin take over you to where youll do stuff like in this vid.

  • thats fucked up !

  • i woulda hopped of that horse and said fuck that and ran back and ask Mr Prezbo for help!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he almost fell

  • BEST TEACHER EVER !

    THUMBS UP !

  • if duke would of just asked for some fucking help god would he be in a better situation. He just never asked. Now theres no trust anymore and he screwed up the whole fucking relationship

  • @nice9008 i agree all he had to do was ask for help and plus Dukie was a smart dude

  • at least the wire shows the truth because most people world think because dukie was the poorest he would come out successful just like they show in the media but id doesnt always work out that way in the streets

  • @pecknarm4life sometimes its like that, real intelligent people end up in the dumps from drugs when they coulda lived a good life and become finacially stable ,its sad

  • fucking tramp! da 1 time a white man tries 2 do sumthin nice 4 a black boy and he goes and fucks it up by lyin 2 him and doin sumthin negative wid da money. fuckin fiend!

  • I loved this damn show cause it was so real.I remember Bunny took in Naman when the writers of the show could have easily let them take in Dookie.Thats life though, The mafuckas who really need the help never get it...........SMH!!!

  • Duke = Bubbles

This show is full of characters who eventually becomes recycled with new ones....circle of life I guess.

  • Dukie = perfect example of the failure of the school and social system.

  • is this in season 5? cause i don't remember it in 4

  • This is a sad scene. Very sad scene. Sad to see all that potential Dukie had go to waste. The kid could have gone to college and trained to be a doctor, a lawyer, or almost anything he wanted to do. Dukie had a brilliant mind. The nigga is just too brilliant to be slangin' drugs.

  • i wish they'd show us what tempted him to shoot up, it was all quite sudden and didn't really give us enough info

  • Way to GO Dukie , so proud of you

  • man mike never should have left him that day he needed mike now duke is the new bubbles

  • i was sad dukie got messed over

  • dat song at the end thats "bubbles" singin dat song

  • Dukie never had a chance, it was sad that the writers could not get him out of the predicament that he was in. Here Namond got a chance, Michael while he didn't have a chance still had more brains and heart than Dukie did, he could take care of his self. Randy he chose that wrong path when he decided to talk murder instead of taking responsibility for what he had done at school.

  • Teaching sure aged Prezbo.

  • I think the beard aged him. He clearly had a handle on things.

  • @KingOfTheShrews

Yes, it does age people in the city schools. All the begging for others to try and make something of their lives. WTF? No one seems to care anymore, and Yes, the teacher is the one blamed most of the time!

  • This is probably the saddest storyline in the Wire. Randy's inclusion into the group home and his subsequent transformation into a emotionless kid is a close second. Dukie showed incredible potential.....he was one of the most gifted students in Prezbo's class. It's heart-wrenching to realize that his situation in the end negated all of that. In spite of all that, I send kudos to the creators for overt reality of these scenes.

Anyone notice that Dukie is wearing a t-shirt with bubbles on it?

  • good eye man, i never noticed that lol

  • Good catch I just noticed it.

  • @knight7se7en I must kindly disagree. Randy still keeps me up at night.

  • @Killz0ner: Randy got the shaft too, don't get me wrong. But his fate did not trump Dukie's (in terms of abjectness). I guess will we kindly agree to disagree.

  • And for people that are saying this scene is unreal have never been to B-More...

  • so sad. I dont know about anywhere else but this is real life in B-More.

  • nigga lookin dusty

  • dayum man wtf dukie...
