I found this band and cocteau twins loocking for post-punk bands and dream pop and shoegaze are subgeneres of post-punk I love this bands ... Im not completly sure that Im right
i feel like i am part of this song...really...like rachel is singing for me...I want people to understand me. i want them listen to shoegaze. Maybe later ill tell them
This song is like laying on a secluded grassy hill with a good friend, watching the the clouds and feeling absolutely at peace, except it's all a dream and you haven't done that in years.
There's a live version of Machine Gun kicking around on YouTube somewhere, think it was recorded in Norway circa 1992 *audio only*, and Toronto too,, stunning sound live, one of my big regrets not catching them live at the time. What i would do to swap one of my visits to see Radiohead in 1992 (x2) for just one Slowdive....
@foxystoat69 the one from Toronto is a rehearsal session, which was actually the last show the band ever played--sadly. The video is called "slowdive pester toronto". The Norway bootleg is from Oct '93 and there's actually two versions of it on youtube. The first is featured in a group of about six songs or so. The second is another bootleg, dunno if it's from the same show/venue, but it's other-worldly. The immense reverb sound they got out of their guitars was breathtaking in my opinion.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I've only just found Slowdive after all these years, how did I go all this time without hearing this?! I'm a new BIG fan, but that's one more fan than there was yesterday. Thank you Slowdive!
this is my favorite Slowdive song. actually this was the first song of theirs I ever listened to, and it still has an incredible impact on me. so gorgeous, there's really no other words to describe it. Neil Halstead is a genius in my opinion
This song is desolate. I am desolate. I've never been able to get over it. It is unique. It is still cutting edge. It will always be cutting edge. It was before it's time. Nobody has expressed such emotions in similar sound construction. it's pure despair in sound. It has done so much for me. One man's mind. pure abandonment. The cry of a broken heart. A compliment and catharsis to my ongoing mourning. wish I could express myself concerning this song. words are useless...
Best Slowdive song ever! Very representative of what this band achieved. Every time I listen to this song I discover new musical shades... One word: eternal
I can't remember the times I have cried listening to this song..but at the same time I feel lonely and strange because I haven't knew anybody who likes shoegaze, most of people listen to rubbish music. I wish this genere were more appreciated.(sorry about my english..)
@D4MVP It's not dead, but I think the people who don't listen to this or don't know about it are a little dead on the inside because they're missing out on some good music.
are you serious? everyone in indie rock is coping shoegaze these days. M83 basically remade this album, slapped some corny lyrics on it and called it "Saturdays = Youth".
well i was going to say something antagonistic but id rather persuade you to listen to a few m83 songs instead because they're wonderful and this is coming from someone who loves mbv and ride...honestly you should consider songs like look at me by villeneuve and m83, and skin of the night by m83. and i wont recommend teen angst anymore just because that one sort of grew off me but that was my favorite song of all for about a year at least.
I swear, if only I knew just one person I could enjoy this music with. I'm alone.
