I still don't know how the cameramen did the Vamp scenes with the multiple Sonnys,Chers and guests that walked in and sat down at the end, and you could still see the first original Sonny playing the piano in the background! Lain out on the floor laughing in amazement!
You have NO idea how happy this makes me! I haven't seen this since I was a kid. I am a doll collector and I have the vintage 1976 Cher doll...this makes me want to go get her off the shelf and give her a kiss! LOL
Love when Sonny climbs up on the piano with her. They had sooooo much chemistry. Still haven't recovered from their divorce -- or his death. Sometimes love isn't enough -- but it's still sad.
i love sonny and cher!!! that are amazing!! cher is my idol!! i would have loved to live in the 60's and been able to know cher or even just watch her shows on tv!!!
i love it! im also 15 and would kill to have lived in the 60s. you woodstock-goers dont know how lucky you are. if i have to hear another song that says f*** pu**y get money i'll have my eardrums surgically ruptured.
im a 14 year old girl from cyprus and i actually feel sorry for my classmates cuz the dont know cher or her music and they just listen to the crap music of today...cher is a legend and that show is legendary..i wish i was born at those times!!!

I've been surfing youtube for over a year now and hadn't thought of watching old Sonny and Cher episodes yet!!!! I was born in '65, so I watched this show as a kid with my family!!! Loved it!
@conceitedperson78 Yeah, but you have them all the time on YouTube -- back in the day it was only on once a week (and my folks had a black and white TV at the time)!
Good guess, I thought it was also until I looked closer. His name is Ted Zeigler, he was a regular on this show, and had parts in several other shows around this era. He passed away in 1999.
Sonny became a Republican and then skied into a tree and died....... not before talking against Gays and Gay marriage.....despit having Chasity (now Chaz) as a child...... he turned on his own child... for politics.......he was on his 4th marriage and wanted to protect true marriage in America.............who was he? Cher loved him and we love Cher. We underderstand..... but he betrayed so many of us.
@nealbrice I wrote Mary Bono right after Sonny's death. I told her that I did not mean to be unChristian in her time of grief but it seems to me that if marriage needed to be protected from anyone, it would be your late husband ...because you are his FOURTH WIFE!
I haven't seen this in over 30 years, and I still remember the words: She was a scamp, a camp and a bit of a tramp. She was a V-A-M-P........Vamp! I watched this show all the time as a kid. Wow! Larry Storch. I haven't seen him in a while.
TV today is anemic ... affirmitive action? ... From the mid 80s it has gone steadily downhill, to where I do not even watch any network programing NBC, CBS and ABC all stink
Ah, the elegant Wilfrid Hyde-White (the British gent in the Sadie Thompson skit)--he was wonderful. He could say a lot of naughty things in that very dry, understated way the Brits do so well. Loved him in a short-lived sitcom called "The Associates".
UGH it's republican Sonny Bono. I can't watch these clips without thinking about his stand against gay marrige while he was the mayor of the very gay Palm Springs California. hard to watch because of that
she was a scamp a camp and a bit of a tramp she was a vee aayy emm pee... VAMP. ahh :D i love this how and cher herself. i really wish i couldve watched it when it was on tv.
When a 15 yr old has to tell us that its time to put shows like this back on the air or to run reruns of this one again....what more do we have to do 4 that to happen?..Thanks cher4995!...Lets write 2 the networks!
@cher4995 So am I! I totally agree, shows and music were a lot better back then. Shows like this were great. It's too bad they don't good variety shows like this anymore.
I used to live for this segment on the Sonny and Cher show show when I was a kid. I wanted to be Cher, singing in a bob mackie gown, sitting on the piano.
tv certainly had all the best shows in the 60's and 70's. Nothing comes close these days. Cable tv cannot hold a candle to finding good "old"stuff to watch elsewhere-- thanks so much!
when i was a kid, this was my absolute faveorite part of the show...especially the end when there would be 3 or 4 Cher's on the tv screen...i used to think it was some sort of magic, lol
i love the vamp numbers. the song bits never get old. i think cher was at her best. sexy, slinky, and a raspy, lovely songstress. i want a little barbie doll that looks jussst like that.
Outside of the opening monologue where Cherwould usually insult Sonny, this was by far the best part of the show. Sonny was awesome as the piano player and of course Cher was sexy as hell. I always liked how the characters Cher portrayed in the skit would all appear together and spell out each letter of VAMP. This was a classic show from the 70s and I recommend the DVD to anyone who liked or loved Sonny and Cher.
yeah, when i was a kid(42 now) i used to think it was magic that there would be 3 Chers on the screen at once, lol. this was always my favorite part of the show as well. are all these shows available on dvd now...each one in its entirety?
yeahh it was funny when they would laugh. umm i got the ultimate collection for christmas. and in another vamp skit she's liek "thats my name and vampings my game!" . i just love this show!! for my talent show im cher and my frend is sonny and we are singing i got you babe

A total scream, even funnier now that I'm older! Thanks, Shaun, and "this gives me an idea" --- do you by any chance have the song-sketch where Howard Cosell plays a museum curator, and all the bronze statues "wake up" and start singing "Little Darlin' " to him? One of the funniest things I've ever seen, and still remember it 30 years later!
Love the Vamp sketches! When I was a kid, this show came on after my bed time, but when I heard the Vamp music I ran out to watch! I love this show, thanks for posting such a fun clip. :)
One of few shows that would always left the audience in on the joke. Or sometime the jokes would be so funny that Sonny/Cher would start to crack themselves up.
This was back before she ruined herself with plastic surgery. Back when she was sexy, in spite of her imperfections ... not freakish looking like she is now.
cher is cool, but what not many know is that it was Sonny who was the brains. When they split they each had their own shows, both were short lived.
At his funeral, she made it very clear that she would not be who is not without him. He was the man behind the woman. He never got as much credit as he deserved.
