  • It's a shame this video has so many dislikes. Watch his instructional videos. The man's a genius.

  • 2:22 = sick

  • Oh wow, so much haters.

Who cares how he blasts... it does the job.

Great playing man, keep it up and fuck all those nerds who are hating.

  • Why on Earth does this have so many dislikes?! This drummer is amazing!

  • I just saw these guys last night at Mojo's in Ogden, Utah. I helped them set up. Stood next to his kit during the set. His technique is even goofier looking up close. But he fucking tears it up. He also really likes stacking cymbals for trash can lid effect.

  • Awh, Evan. Remember coming to...oh what did you guys call it? Monkey, PA haha... well. good job friend. try and cover Ice, ice baby =P love you guys. come visit soon. I miss your metal. and oreos at 3am. <3

  • His blasts = Parkinson

  • LOL, this guy has pretty funny technique. He sure kicks ass, though~! \m/

  • Spicks Grind, I meant Alex Grind. Fuck having a cracked screen, can't see shit

  • There's so many dislikes because everyone on here , atleast according to the comments, are pro grade drummers, that only like the cleanest of drummers. Atleast its not has bad as that gorgasm, it what they are called band. That guy dies hit like a baby, this still generates solid power. Someone already mentioned him, but Spicks Grind does pretty much the same thing. And he clearly shows that you can go beyond 220.

  • he plays the blast beats PERFECTLY with his technique, because it's HIS way of getting the job done. And... why so many dislikes to such a technically driven band who writes beautiful music? I give this video 5 stars :)

  • @sickdrummerdotcom ya? That's fucking awesome, the parts he writes for ordinance are phenomenal. A lot of groove, and not all just blasts. Pretty stoked to see what all you guys are up too.

  • cerebal palsy?

  • Get over yourselves. His blasting, while looking unorthodox and very improper, gets the job done and he obviously can pull it off. Stop being drumming elitists and enjoy the way a drummer approaches our craft.

  • @LordAbrxias How is it being elitist to make note that someone has awful technique? Why should I enjoy someone else's weaknesses? Imagine a single stroke roll at any tempo past say, 220 bpm like this... it'd be more or less impossible with technique like this, it's like playing double bass with no ankles.

Also, it's strange to me that he plays in a "proggy" band like this but unprogressively crosses over to play the hi-hat, but whatever... he's still good overall. The groove at 0:45 is neat.

  • Evan u da mang! Keep it thrash! French grip blast is for librarians! :-)

  • idgaf what his blasts look like they sound perfect. sound is what counts not how ur blasts look. u do what works for you, and obviously that works for him. hes more famous than any of us

  • Drummer not srummer, I hate posting shit with my phone

  • @sicksrummerdotcom are you guys ever going to film Alex Rudinger, that guy deserves all the publicity he can get. Serious skills, and he is pretty young.

  • @BurnThePope0514 We are talking to Alex about some exclusive lessons... stay tuned ;)

  • Though the blasts looked weird, this guys is a serious drummer. Check out his other songs.

  • That's called the kitchen knife blast!!!

  • he blasts like the drummer for despised icon. seems kind of like a waste of motion, ultimately

  • That blast beat reveals epic masturbation skills.

  • I liked this intro better than the Fleshgod one.

  • he plays weird but so does cameron from BoO... when i saw these guys open for AAL they kicked ass

  • very funny xD

  • i've seen people play like that, wierd for me would be a dude blasting with his dick and using his arms just for cymbals.

  • Eh who cares if its not pretty, atleast he is generating enough power in each stroke

  • The issue isn't that he's using a weird technique, the issue is that he has no technique.

Granted, as long as it gets played, who cares. But on another level, he'd be two times better it he fixed his technique.

I liked what he played, though.

  • @aphat pretty much agreed 100%:P

  • @aphat Well said

  • his stick moves like a helicopter blade while blasting :)

  • he blasts like a baby

  • I always like to start my day with a video of sickdrummer just to get me extra pumped to play drums. Keep those vids coming!!!

  • I get the feeling he hasn't played for very long. If that's the case, I'm sure time will smooth him out.

  • someone cure him

  • this one really is a sick drummer

  • I'll tell you one thing, he's a shit ton better then alot of you on here bitching about his technique. Listen to EVERYTHING he's doing, he know's his shit

  • very unorthodox techniques but ya know if he doesn't get carpal tunnel and has good strength in his hits and endurance hes doing it right haha. his hyperblasting reminds me ov an uncontrolled derek roddy

  • Damn, he has a weird way to play drums, but besides the blast everything sounds nice and solid and isn't the normal rock beat kind of deal.

  • is that josh blue on drums?!

  • Yes his tech is strange but u ever see cameron from boo....

  • uh. never seen a blast like that. kinda confusing.

  • That's the MOST HORRIBLE WAY to do a blast beat, it looks so WEIRD.... is horrible, i don't like it. He needs a technique, like flying finger, hybrid technique, or something like that

  • @Solitaryo There is no "way" to do a blast beat, as long as you do it...

  • @Solitaryo how about instead of being a slave to all these STUPID new "techniques" he's just learnt how to play drums very fucking well so piss off with your stupid words.

  • @jerkass411 stupid techniques? are you a drummer? i think you're not. Your comment is even more stupid than mine. Techniques WORKS, that why people use them, that why you have techniques for every single thing in life, like music, engineering, administration, EVERYTHING, so don't come to me and say that to me, it's fucking pointless. I'm not a good drummer, but even me knows than techniques are important

  • @Solitaryo No I"m sorry, that comment just made you seem like more of a douche. I get technique, and this guy doesn't see to have the "perfect" technique according to you, but he knows his shit, watch some of his other videos. Also I AM a drummer, and took offense to you saying oh he's doing it WRONG ITS ALL WRONG. Who the fuck are you?

  • @jerkass411 I'm no one, i'm not a real drummer, i'm engineer. I play drums for fun, and just for fun, but is very obvious that's not the way to blast, the techniques are in our lifes no make things easy, and more confortable, just look at him, he looks like he's having a heart attack, or alzheimer very fast....

  • @Solitaryo That may be true, but all those stupid things you mentioned aren't even techniques. They're just stupid words that people came up with to seem like they know what the fuck they're talking about. I'm tired of people trying to cut corners, there is no overnight changes with drumming, it's a lot of dedication and practice. This guy clearly took upon himself to learn how to blast HIS way.

  • @jerkass411 He uses his arms way too much. I am a drummer, and I use mostly fingers but any combination between fingers and wrists is what you should aim at. He uses almost 100% arms, and he has developed it as a habit and built up the strength, so he has the precision and speed- but it is not going to look or sound quite as clean, and is a hell of a lot harder. Plus, he probably wouldn't be able to keep at it like that for a 40+ live set, it would take a lot of endurance to only use your arms.

  • @Cryogenic68 Ya I totally get that, I just can't fucking STAND people that go on and on about all these stupid new "techniques". Maybe I'm a bit of an old schooler, but I feel that the only thing that will make you a good drummer, is hard work and lots of pracitcing. No shortcuts.

  • @Solitaryo You're not a drummer, you said it... This guy looks stupid by blasting, but they're good. So who cares ?

  • @Necropolis92 judging by your comment, I'm guessing you don't play drums.

  • What song is the intro¿

  • Unfortunately, Mr. Sammons came up a little short and finished 2nd in his middle school talent show. 1st place went to Derek Huff for his stunning performance of lip syncing "ice, ice baby"

  • say hello to tendinitis for me pal.

  • when he blasts it doesnt look like he uses flying fingers or whatever u wanna call it so he just uses wrist and arm speed

  • I actually saw these guys when they opened for Animals As Leaders this summer, and they're really good live. I'd reccomend anyone to look into them that's into Prog Death Metal. Obv his technique isn't...amazing. But their sound is raw. I like them.

  • wow... he tenses up big-time during the blasts

  • i was laughing at his blasting parts too but i stopped on 1:07 :|

  • i was laughing at his blasting part but i stopped at 1:06 :|

  • All arm...please stop.

  • what show was this filmed at. i saw them in july at northern lights in clifton park ny

  • 4 hi-hats?

  • @amusingisthedawn Those are not hi hats, they are "stack"

  • @kkkeikurono mmmmmmmmkay

  • Evan would shit on anyone complaining about his technique.

  • he should add a hihat or 2 just in case.

  • He has a bit of odd technique, but so did I when I started drumming.

  • new intro ftw

  • What the fuck?:L

  • I lol'ed at his blasts...

  • @EvasiveCasey fuck you TT-TT i blast that way too sometimes XD

  • AWESOME! Homies from Maine!

  • Stop bitching about his technique ... yes it is different, but who's to say what's right or wrong? it CLEARLY works out for him, his blasts look weird but sound perfect, so stop bitching about him not playing the same way everyone else does and enjoy how fuckin good he is!

  • is there a click track in those headphones? That can make things all the more tricky. I think this band has their own sound even if we can tell their influences, it's not easy to be brutal and beautiful.

  • Who cares if his technique is a bit different, he's pretty damn clean live.

And the Level 2 album has some great drumming. One of the best releases this year in my opinion.

  • it seems like the way people play is more important than the music itself... Just show's how the music industry was dominated by appearance... I miss the 80's...

  • Technique has nothing to do with composing and playing extremely creative parts for technical music. As long as you arent writing / programming music you can't actually play live who cares....he played it like on the cd and it sounded good. Also I saw them live and what a unique drum setup! Great video!

  • awkward blast beat.... still sounds good

  • everyone shut the fuck up about his technique, he's a great drummer and he has his own unique style.

  • His wrists look really stiff. Definitely a great drummer, but those wrists...

  • @AspiringRocker729 nah its not that they are stiff its just he nvr learned how to used them properly so he doesnt use them at all just his forearm

  • thats one fucking ugly playing

  • worst technique possible but he can pull it off and theres no going bak for him

  • why isn't this recorded directly from the PA this time?

  • wtf is up with his technique!?!!

  • @olliemedsy ugly playing rite?

  • @olliemedsy

It's called the "use your whole arm" technique. Very efficient, haven't you heard? :)

  • @olliemedsy If you think his technique is weird look up the drummer of Wet The Steel, OH MY GOD..

  • @olliemedsy whatever gets the job done.

  • Amazing band, Level 2 is great.

  • So talented.

  • I love precise drumming...
