This is the exact opposite of where I went to school. Most of the metalheads like or loved punk as well, but the punks HATED metal. Especially when they punk and hardcore bands started doing crossover or went total thrash. I'm a metal fan first and foremost, but love the older punk/hardcore bands like Black Flag, Dead Kennedy's, Minor Threat, Jerry's Kids, MDC, etc. as well.

they were a jazz fusion band till they got a hold of a sex pistols album which totally inspired them to go punk
and they pretty much helped kcik start the NYhardcore scene which inspired so many of the the metal bands you probably listen to. and now the bad brains are a reggae group.

I have nothing against punk... Maybe for some people is a fucking way of life... i have nothing against them!But I'm speaking about the musicians... they can't write true music... They can't hold true solo or shredding guitar parts.But to be honest, punk for me is something that in some way relaxes me... It's for fun... Nothing too serious!

I've seen the entire "Heavy Metal Parking Lot" DVD, and in the commentary, the filmmakers said that he would wear that outfit to school, and was equally vocal there as he was here.
I also get the impression that he probably had the highest IQ of anyone on that DVD, and that includes the guys who filmed it.
