@PraecoNoctis You got that wrong :).... he said "Abet! Abet!" an Amharic which literally calls for peak time dance moves... similar to "hands up.." or " shake it..." or call it whatever you like.
@snorlaxx1337911 Small mind = small heart. If Allah is so great, where is your big heart that goes beyond petty differences? We can overcome differences and oppression ... but it always starts "at home", with each of us. Love is the only way.
Idan Raichel is solidly georgeous! HIs dred locks are crazy cool, but his face is beautiful too. He is Hot! Hot! Hot!
I am studying Hebrew with a free site called Hebrew 4 Christians (just google it) and it has sound. You can learn at your own pace as simply as the aleph-bet and you can go through the Torah and much more. I like the daily site blog. Just scroll down and learn of upcoming Jewish holidays and Shabbat.
I gotta say though, this is a fun way to learn the language!
the singer here is "vogdres avi voasa" (hopefully spelld right), one of wonderful israeli ethiopian singers in the project (he was born in ethiopia), in mi ma'amakim he sings only the part in ethiopian in the beginning that repeats in the song, "idan raichel" who is the leader of the project is the main singer in mi ma'amakim he sings in hebrew, here (in ayal ayale) idan plays the keyboards (and jump-dances), best wishs.
@PrincesaAmazigh As far as i know he stopped working with the project after the tour of the albom "mi mamakim" and i too cant find any details about what he is doing today, not even in hebrew (on the net), its a bit strange since he is such a great singer..
@PrincesaAmazigh That could be.. i live in north israel so i dont know much about whats going on in Tel aviv, but still, if he wold have any show or performance in any place in israel there wold have to be some information about it, and there isn't so.. i will let you know if i hear something new, all the best.
the first instrument playd by the guitarist calld "tar" and its originaly used in azerbaijan, iran and turky but they are litle difrent from ich other, i have one from azerbaijan it has 3 double strings and 1 bas to play on and another 4 sympathetic strings and cattle skin strached on the soundig board and its sounds beautiful.
Tar means string its a persian word like sitar(30 strings),dotar(2 strings)setar means 3 strings and guitar seks strings .Also tar means thread in persian.Turks, azeris and arabs copied our culture.
kobulione, you most be right, thanks for the explanation. i was born in azerbaijan but my ancestors lived in persia (iran) for many many centurys too, so i really honor this ancient culture and find much interest in it and especially in their music, as i am jewish i live in israel today, peace and best wishes to you.
well kobulione, i hope that sometime soon in our life time we will be able to visit each others countrys freely, and talk and learn about our ancient and present cultures, all the best brother.
his saying "abet " its like saying yea or yes just something encoureging for the crowd to join in. its a common word used by ethio artists while performing.
Eretz Israel belongs to the Jewish people because G-d gave them Israel. But Palestinians is not spelled paly-stinky-ians. Yeah, there are Palestinians that are our enemies, but still... Jews and Palestinians should live in peace! G-d bless and protect Israel and Jewish people!
the song would have been a lil better if it was just cabra as the back up singer and they guy ....cuz the otehr girl is an octave higher and in gondere style music we dont do harmony....trust me i know what i mean it would sound so better if it was just on kind of voice
what instrument is the guitarist playing? I know the pear- shaped one is an oud, but what about the first? And I saw Idan Raichel live, it is a experience that cannot be described.
I just found out about these fantastic musicians! Love them! Tried to buy the cd through the Idan Raichel website, but not available. Anyone know how to get it?
umm you must be jealous of him as he does not look like a woman for one and he is very beautiful and taleto and i love him, alike many other ladies out there!

hIS HAIR ARE LONG LIKE A LOT OF ETHIPIAN RURAL INHABITANTS- AND THE TYPE OF TROUSERS ARE CALLED "IGRE TEBAB".
