I saw Duster in a packed Ulster Hall 1969 or 1970. He was supporting Skid Row. When Skid Row started their set the Ulster Hall crowd chanted for "Duster" to come back on. Rightly so, he was sensational. I'll never forget "Bright Lights, Big City" when we all joined in. I still have the album.
Saw him once in Plymouth at the Van Dike club. The fact that I can remember him over 40 years later and look for him on here is a tribute to how good he was!
Ah, the old gin Mill. I was there too. A memory flashed into my mind today of this track and I thought "I wonder if it's on You tube" and so it was, Thank you so much for this Andria, listening to it after all these years brought so much flooding back.
I don't need to say what the man was like cos you're all obvious fans and know well enough.....great stuff..
I was there too... many many more than four in that confined space - as you can hear. Had to be communal dancing as I remember - if one jumped, all jumped it was so packed. It was a truly awesome venue - and what music we heard!
This brings back so many memories for me, too. I used to know Tony (Duster) back in the 1960's/early 1970's, and he borrowed my old Hercules ladies' bicycle for the shoot for the poster of his album 12DB's. The picture was later used for the cover of his CD. Wish he was here.
I saw DB in the Ulster Hall and there were I believe at least four, yes a whole four people in the audiencebut I can remember it like yesterday. He was good!!!!
Thanks Andrea, found this after googling 'gin mill, godalming'! And like others here, I saw some great bands, including Free, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Blodwyn Pig, and Duster Bennett to name a few ... those were the days...
Thanks Andrea ... I was there !!! ..... saw some great stuff at the Angel - Blodwyn Pig - Alexis Championn Jack... the list could go on and on - slept in the in some odd places round there when I couldn't get home. First caught Duster at Pantiles in Bagshot ..... went with my English teacher, and he had to lend me a tie to get in.
Thanks Andria, thanks dbull29. Henry's Blues House! That's where I met Duster for the first time. And I played on stage with him the same night. Ah, the arrogance of youth - I played harmonica behind the great Duster Bennett! It makes me laugh now. I could play but he was The Man....what was I thinking???!!! I played guitar too, his guitar, the fine Goldtop Les Paul. We remained friends until the end. I was the last of his close circle to see him alive. I can't say I've ever got over it....
He was the real deal. Saw him once at Farnham Castle and once at Farnborough Tech.

Thanks Andria.
This brings back so many great memories of seeing Duster at Henry's Blues House in the old Crown Hotel at the back of New St Station.
A tragic loss to music at such an early age, greatly missed.
