I think it's a mistake to label the jack russell as a "more stubborn" dog. The dog clearly has no idea what you want from it, and is "giving up" by rolling over -- a well-known calming signal -- to try to get you to stop doing what you're doing (or communicate his helplessness). He clearly wants to learn from you, as is evidenced by his excitement in the beginning of the video (notice how it's largely gone at the end and the dog responds reluctantly to the exercise). You killed his enthusiasm.
