My brother and I have been seeing DD in the North East since 1996 @ Toad's in New Haven, CT & the Iron Horse in North Hampton, MA. Nice video and sound. Post more for us Dick Heads!
"when will the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognize that?"
About as soon as those musically illiterate, half-brained assholes finally recognize the Ventures and other early seminal groups ... instead of more recent, low-talent dorks who've made the list.
It's about as good an indicator of talent and creativity as the fuckin' Academy Awards -- like ZIP.
Screw all of that self serving awards bull crap anyway. The people know who is the real deal and the posers, and we don't need to see any "stinking" plaques or trophies to figure it out.
I've never met the guy, but I'll bet he knows lots of songs. How about Ghost Riders, Let's Go Trippin', Surf Beat, King Of Surf Guitar, Nitro, and Pipeline (which was nominated for a Grammy) for starters? Also, I got MadBradley's joke. I didn't think it was very good, but I did get it.
pretty sure black eyed peas' guitarist (jeff "skunk" baxter) wrote this song back when he was with the traveling wilburys and then he presented this song to bertha the bassist of the black eyed peas
I'm pretty sure that person in Armenia or greece a few hundered years ago who actually wrote this song would disagree with that... Dick Dale only adapted an original folk tune so it would sound cool on his electric guitar.
Misirlou is a Greek folk song written in the 20s or 30s, and it actually has lyrics (in Greek). Dick Dale's original rock version, covered by almost everyone these past 40+ yrs, was unquestionably a groundbreaking, upbeat driving version of the "original," but it pre-dates the Black-eyed Peas by a loooooong way.
Wow, did you not read my post and find the humor in it? How the hell do think I found this vid if I didn't know who Dick Dale was!? Try using your brain before you throw insults...
Wow, I would've given Dick Dale fans a little more credit. But if they can't understand facetious humor then maybe I should distance myself. I'm very familiar with Dick Dale's music ever since I wore out my Pulp Fiction Soundtrack 12 years ago - and for the record, I hate the Black Eyed Peas. Where the hell does this rage come from guys...insulting strangers that make you feel inferior is cheaper than therapy I guess...sad.
