  • JIMMY HENDRIX LEGEND

  • she's yet too raw !

  • i heard the last one and i knew he was the living colour guy right away

  • I like how Tony MacAlpine comes out of freakin' nowhere.

  • Comment removed

  • fuck Ibanez

  • 4 Guitar players, can't play LIKE 1 HENDRIX!!! <3

  • @sabir007rock I know! How dare these guitarists develop their own style and sound. Everyone should have to play EXACTLY LIKE HENDRIX!

  • I love Satriani. He's so soulful no matter what. Frankly I think that Jimi would rather he be playing his guitar instead of Steve. But it's whatever.

  • Just saying, to have Steve Vai stand there with a grin on his face and not make a sound while you play a bitchin' solo is a great accomplishment for any musician.

  • I would love to hear Larry Carlton put a spin on this!!

  • Stevie should of been there!

  • this is crap. vai and satch are wonderful. but the chick is tasteless, an the other guy is good, but looks lost

  • @rmccaw7 The guy who uses the blue/black guitar tours with Vai! He usually backs him up. I dunno if that makes any difference but I just wanted to say it. Haha!

  • My respect for Ori is undying. She's absolutely amazing regardless of age!

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • just to make things clear to some people who think that guitar playing is rated by technical poweress is wrong. those young talents demonstrated a great deal of technical ability that night and got a chance to play with the greatest in the buissness, to people who think there is some overshadowing beetween satch and vai is wrong, iv been watching almost all of their shows, and in spite that satriani focus on expressing himself he can blow off all of these wankers to the bottem of abyss if he wan

  • hmm... I wonder if any of these guys (and girl!) can play just one note well... I'm not having a go, just wondering if they could do it,,,

  • give that guitar to Satch!

  • Orianthi is way nervous in this one..look at her...shes with gods man

  • I tend to think that all the guiitarists have their shred period but at the end it's just a way to get better at playing slowly with emotion

  • Stevie ray the only master, that Jimi would approve of, to do this. plus the talent on this stag is fucking mind blowing to.

  • I just couldn't get into that at all...

  • capos Tony McAlpine Joe Satriani

  • Showboating. Like when a singer (Cristina Aguilera for example) repeats a note until you forget what the song is. It's cool once in awhile, too much and it's a gimmick with no soul.

  • lol @ the amps...

Marshall.. Marshall.. Marshall.. STEVE VAI LEGACY! Marshall..

  • @MrJuliorMedina Steve's Carvin to me is better than all that Marshalls :)

  • Imho, none of these solos fit the song, and i dont like it, but i love satriani and vai :) kickass guitarrists.

  • I'm glad Jimi is dead so he doesen't have to listen to this raping of a good song.

  • To those saying that Orianthi sucks, I say: She plays better than you ever will, not to mention she's playing side by side with the best guitarists in the world, something you will never acomplish. By the way, she's not that good looking, if you went out more often instead of just trolling on youtube you would see what I am talking about. Peace.

  • @Zakksback17 It's not trolling actually... wont you agree that there are lots of guitarists a lot more deserving of playing with the greats than Orianthi?. If you say no then you are clearly a fanboy and your opinion on the matter is completely biased and should not be taken to consideration at all. Peace.

  • @Obliaxe As a matter of fact, I dont like her at all. All I am saying is that if she's up there on that stage it's because Joe and Steve saw something special in her. And yes there are a lot of better guitarists out there, but that doesn't make her a bad player. Whether we like her or not is subject to personal preference. So yeah, most of it is in fact trolling. Peace.

  • Joe understand blues..its not all about speed its about soul.

  • Oh man Joe's playing was so sweet, you could literally feel the soul behind the notes. Incredible.

  • Orianthi = Fail

  • Comment removed

  • @SteveE963 Since when has expressing an opinion trolling? She is absolutely nowhere NEAR the league of the musicians on that stage. Admit it, if she was a guy and played exactly the same way, you wouldn't even care that he existed. You're never going to have sex with her, let it go loser. All you have to do it type female guitarist into the Youtube search, and you'll see that crappy girl guitarists like her have millions of views, just because of their looks. Case closed, asshole.

  • That's not to say there aren't good female guitarists. I'm just saying this girl AIN'T it. I say again: Orianthi = Fail.

  • Comment removed

  • ♥-♥ love this song *♫♥♫

  • Who's the best guitarist is always personal preference.. Who ever makes the guitar sing to your soul is your favorite.. with that said my order of preference of these three.. I'm an Orianthi Fan and supporter.. but i'd have to say Joe > Orianthi as a close close second and Steve last.. Steve's sound was too similar to "for the love of god" which is a ok song.. but can get on the nerves after a while.. it was no bluesey enough.. lacking soul..

  • Orianthi: I shred..

Steve: you still have a lot to learn Ori..

Joe: you still have a lot to learn Steve

    :)))

  • @kravenkorvinus I don't agree :P I prefer Vai to Joe. Orianthi is very talented

  • @Totofan09 hahaha..i do to actually..just made the comment cause Joe is like Vai's teacher..and Vai is sort of like that with Ori too..It wasnt a statement of comparison.

And I like Ori too especially her new EP..

  • @kravenkorvinus Yes I knew about Satriani teaching Vai...BUt to me Vai did overcome way too much Satch :D I have to buy the new EP of Ori!

  • @Totofan09 hmm..true he did overcome Satch technically to some extent maybe..but we must not forget that if it werent for Satch, how sure are we that Vai would even think of those stuff..I just think and feel that Satch had such a big influence and impact on his playing thats why.. after all you can't innovate or revolutionize something you did not learn..

Id have to buy one too..or maybe wait for the whole album

  • @kravenkorvinus , very well said

  • @kravenkorvinus hahahah hahahha

  • @kravenkorvinus lol but what about tony macalpine, ?

  • @ADAaAlL he's not part of this mentoring heirarchy.. :D

  • Tony: "I'm lazy guys". Joe: "Why you playing so many notes?". Orianthi: "Lokk I am so good". Steve: "Blondie bend over please".

  • Kenneally pwns everyone there.. it should be called Kenneally & others

  • Dont know but everytime someone else is playing Hendrix, it just is not there...

  • Como se lo pasan entre amigos y por una buena causa. Encima con la leyenda viva de Jimi Hendrix. Apoteósico

  • If Clapton played with them ( he wouldnt) but if he did he'd out do all of them with pure soul.

  • orianthi's overkill...

God is fine.

  • Who's the other guy?

  • @samborlon Tony Macalpine

  • @necridcr Thanks! Is he anyone comparable to Joe or Vai? Cause I've never heard of him.

  • look for the video in this concert when they are playing "Rocking in the free worl"...when tony is in the solo, Vai an Satch are just like...WTF!!!!!!! jajaja he is awesome!!

  • I want to be the father of Orianthi's children :))

  • I am amazed at all the mean words used to descrive orianthi. She is possibly the most talented woman in music ever at under 30 years old. She has the respect of Vai, Satriani, BB King, Cooper, Santana ans still people give her grief. She is still developing her nitch and when she flys more of you will just "shut up and kiss her". Comparing guitarists against eachother is a waste of time, enjoy each individually and collectively as the moment dictates, each has his or her own input to the sounds.

  • @MrJerrelli most talented in music i don't think so, maybe playing guitar, but believe there is way better musicians than her under 30

  • @MrJerrelli You don't get the point. There are thousands of more talented guitarists (male and female) on youtube and they get just a few hundred views. Because the sheeple can't tell the difference, i mean just look at which music videos have the most views...come on. I know a good musician when i hear one and Orianthi is just plain average but she gets all the press and attention. If you like i can send you some links, there are children who play better than Orianthi.

  • @kantaification if she is average then why does she have respect from people. Big named people such as Paul Reed Smith, Vai, Satriani, to name a mere few. sure she is rough around the edges compared to the company she plays with now, but look at the company she plays with. these guys know a musician when they see one, and obviously see Ori as a musician. Oh and getting a gig playing for Michael Jackson is no easy feat, go and Google for previous guitarists to do that for some perspective

  • @TDMarshall1 Hitler got 99,6% votes, all the intellectuals from that era supported him. Credentials mean nothing. She's improved but I still hear a lot of scales and not a lot of music. Who wouldn't improve after playing the best guitars and with the best people? But still there are thousands of more talented people on the planet who don't get any attention and I know some of them personally. Vai and those guys are not spending time searching for talented people, they play guitars.

  • @kantaification the beatles got turned down by Decca records saying they wont make it. the costliest mistakes in music history. they then went to EMI, and had to ask Decca to make Beatles records for EMI because EMI couldnt make enough to keep up with demands. EMI is still around today, Decca isnt. Point is, we can debate the finer points of what makes somebody successful all day long, but the fact remains, Ori is up there playing at the HOB, with these guys, and these other you mention arent.

  • You guys need to understand Ori here in onstage with some of the greatest players alive today. All of them anre giving tribute to yet another legend. To play, to feel, to express with your instrument is never to plan what you will do but to let the moment bloom in it's own fashion, always growing along a different path than the exact one taken the last time you passed this way. There is no good or bad to any of what you see here...it is the moment expressing itself by their skill,no more or less

  • This is a very hard song to solo to well. Even Joe struggles with it. Steve had to play a bunch of goo to make his stuff fit the turnaround. Orianthi just played a bunch of notes and prayed that enough of them would sound decent. None of them could touch SRV. That dude was the only one to do Hendrix justice and beyond. I feel better about my own playing. LOL!

  • little wing is just the ultimate jam song .... not a year of vocals then some guitar .. its both smooth soulful meaningful .. and an awesome progression to wail on .... some g3 parts killed it .. Ori didnt go over board .. but brought it with vai to the now for guitarists to like try hate or jam with ... .. i think other than JIMI's ... skid row on "b-sides is awesome (my opinion only ) .. but this is sweet :-)

  • Crap. If she only had a tambourine and a bass drum. less is more in this piece.

Lets do Vivaldi's Four Seasons in One again it couldn't matter.

  • c'mon give Orianthi a break she did an excellent job, I enjoyed her part as much as VAi and Satch cause each one put their soul in the guitar in a different way.

  • steve vai with a fender lol xD

  • Steve may have just as much knowledge of scales and modes as Joe and can play a little faster than him, but the emotional delivery isn't that strong as Joe's. Steve has some beautiful pieces, but you can always FEEL the emotion in Joe's music.

Love the part @4:39. Everything gets quiet and Joe comes out with his nice blues tone. Awesome.

  • orianthi who ?? WTF ???

  • Steve, shut up and let Orianthi sing, please. And take a pill, you´re too nervous, shredding a milion unecessary notes per second. As for Orianthi, she´s hot, shredding makes her hotter.

    Joe, teach´em all.

  • @x3mlee Actually, Steve sings really good on "Little Wing". Don't be a fanboy.

  • Dammit until 4:43 I thought there's no Satriani

  • Orianthi is nervous thats why she plays so many notes

  • A tribute to Hendrix? No - that is an narcissistic tribute to themselves. The beginning of Mr. Vai is great - the right tone, the right style. But the solos of him and Orianthi suck and are painful. Only Joe is near to the blues. Boring!!!!

  • Joe's solo was all about feeling and feeling always wins :)

  • Grande Santana!

  • @ZEGO24x Wow, go ahead, run your mouth, do you feel important now? All I was asking for is for a little respect. If you aren't religious, I respect your decision. Just chill.

  • I can't believe anyone here would actually rip Orianthi. Look where shes standing in this video, and where you are with your guitar. Turn off the distortion and lets see you then? How about gain a respect for musicians who TRULY FEEL the music, unlike your naive self. Even Steve Vai would play with bands like Korn... I WISH I was standing where she is with my guitar and with HALF her talent. Grow some passion for music, then "lets see YOU then". Unbelievable. @NKomash

  • I dont care about your opinions, Orianthi is shit, shes not theatrical in any way, her style lacks any style at all. Vai made a huge mistake making her an apprentice.

  • @SlipNFall2g1c Maybe in time, your comment here will help Steve Vai realize his horrid horrid mistake.

  • @SlipNFall2g1c Well, I guess I'm not good enough to second-guess Steve Vai.

  • @SlipNFall2g1c Also, perhaps consider what "apprentice" really means. He's been closer to her than us, maybe he saw something for potential we don't.

  • @SlipNFall2g1c Well, if you didn't notice, she's the youngest guitar player in the line-up.

So I think it's a pretty childish and stupid for you to judge a guitarist that is in process of learning and forming its style of playing.

No ofense, I respect your opinion, but I don't agree...

but yeah, expression liberty, the same way you don't like Ori, I don't like Vai.

But still it doesn't give me the rights to come here and call him shit..

  • love to hear wat steve played 1000 times than listening to oriathi's annoying solo

  • One does not simply turn your back to Steve Vai ( 2:58 )....now you were raped

  • omg that girl Orianthi lives next too my house in greec !!!

  • She kinda reminds me of Zappa.

  • Orianthi - 13124125141 notes

    Steve Vai - 2123113132 notes

    Joe satriani - 120 notes

    Joe WINS xD

  • @devilcorvo I agree. Joe is much better...

  • @devilcorvo sorry but mcalpine win!!!

  • @ratacubex Well I didn´t saw mcalpine wen i did this, but i still think that joe is in first then mcalpine. The slow aproach from joe is just perfect

  • @devilcorvo Joe is the teacher....proffesor Schatfinkulis!!!

  • Yeah, that's what Little Wing needed; 4 widdling guitarists and a pub ending - lol

  • ... my preferred one is that one with Grace Potter where they do Cortez the killer. But a lot of Ori's performances show that she has soul too.

  • @ Nardbluzrootz

thought the same thing when i watched the video. I'm more an Ori than a Satriani fan (cause most of his performances are very technical), but there are a few performances where he is amazing

  • Why must everybody have to be a critic? just enjoy the damn music and shut up

  • @Epste1n5693

I agree they are all good althought when you put several guitarists together seems like a challenge for them!!!! (s'cuse for my bad english!!)

  • 2:47 - Steve tries to start his solo...

    Orianthi: No fcking way

  • @EdwardJamesCastSly

But you recognized that 2 seconds earlier he shows her: "once again". Didn't he remember? :)

  • I hate that everyones a critic. Why does music have to be a competition? We should all be thankful to have witnessed this.

  • Riding the wind with Steve ... <3

  • watch guthrie's little wing then jizz on your pants!!

  • these guys suck, im beteer

  • Long live Jimi. How ever he's played.

  • Satriani and Vai is great, but what there doing baby Orianthi? She's sound very bad, too much dist!

  • shitty solo

  • LOL Steve have strat :D :D :D

  • Play guitar not masturbating your guitar ...

  • Comment removed

  • joe is my favorite guitar player of all time but you r right just sit there and shut up no need to compare music its all strange beautiful music kudos awesome performance

  • it's amazing to me that people can't just sit back \enjoy. Does every video have to be about who's the best or who sucks in your opinion. All of them did a fantastic job kudos.

  • Wow, your tone really is in your fingers. Vai can take an awesome toneful guitar and make it sound like shit

  • Man ,Tony kicked some ass in his solo. I think it was amazing. Shame on Orianthi. Fucked Stairway from have solo and now this.... =/

  • not that orianthi is a bad player because she isn't. But you guys have to understand (with some exceptions) a Lott of rock Guitar players when they become well at the technique they want to show it. But over time they get to a point where (like joe) where even though they have the technique to shred the whole song. they mature to realize that there isnt a need to shred the whole time.. Hopefully she matures to recognize that expresion can be more appreciated more in one note than in 13.

  • @Nardbluzrootz I agree with some of what you've said. Hopefully with age she'll find her place. With regards to "expression with one note rather than 13" I'm not sure I agree.

The difference is that Orianthi doesn't have great timing. I could listen to Eric Johnson do 13 notes, Satch, or even Yngwie. If she was more articulate I'd be happier but that takes lots of practice and as others mention here she's still busy living off the 'tone' she's built.

    BTW McAlpine rocks this one.

  • @YDsixstring I LOVE HOW U MADE yJm SEEM LIKE A LAST RESORT.. LOL and T-Mac is always a beast especially on his records

  • @Nardbluzrootz Actually I can explain that, lol. My order was not a mistake. yJm chose a specific talent in speed playing & while it's admirable I can't find myself listening to him all the time. It becomes highly repetitive.

I like Satch (he and Via have helped churn out a new generation of guitarists). Yet for me, he is got a specific 'tone' as well & b/c few people can mimic it he does that himself (ala Eventide Harmonizer).

EJ is the most 'natural' of the group to me.

  • @YDsixstring also i was using the "1 to thirteen mainly to prove a point" that the amount of soul u put in the note is far more important than how fast you play a line..

  • @Nardbluzrootz so what do u mean? less notes means more feel? come on.. thats crap.. every guitar player expresses his passion differentley.. for most listeners its more comfortable to hear some nice melody than some fast lick, shred or anything like that.. but if some1 does shred it doesnt mean he isnt passionate because there is a lot work and dedication behind it.. people may prefer more satriani that malmsteen because it suits to the ear more but in the end its all relative

  • @MrCold012 you have a point but think about it.. young people sometimes think that talking loud and doing and being abrasive is the best was to prove a point however people with more wisdom can say things.. very slow calmly and still make the same point if not with a more virtuous touch.. someties "shredding" is overused at one time and thats why ppl don't like Yjm becuase he hardly ever takes a less abrasive touch.. but im entitled to my opinion as u are to yours of which i respect

  • @Nardbluzrootz - Totally... sad to say in the company of greats... maybe it was like Wow!... she blew her wad completely. Making a musical statement comes with experience. I suppose, give her time. Still what a great opportunity she had.

  • @Nardbluzrootz You are totally 100% right!

There are millions of guitar players out there that can shred but how many David Gilmore's are there

  • @Nardbluzrootz I would even broach the subject that she probably feels as a woman, that she needs to be the 'spice girl' for the guitar with girl power and all. I think she definately as you said, needs to mature, and play musically, and not just hinge her shtick on being the chick guitar player who can play better than most girls.

  • @Nardbluzrootz Your coment about Orianthi is the only one that I agree and makes sense around here...

  • I haven't seen tony Macalpine, sorry. but still not good. Everybody love to butcher little wing, why???

  • The three were not exactly good. I'm a Joe's ad Vai's fan and i feel sorry to say this girl was better. but still not good

  • Wow. When Joe Satriani is the most restrained, tasteful player onstage.... you have reached a truly sublime level of guitar-god wankery. Bravo/(Brava)!

  • non of em swing at all....stiff...

  • I hate thoes guitar players.. You may jam with a guitar player on full distortion blues at 12Bars and stuff, then you're moving to Autumn Leaves or Blue Blossa, you better turn yourself into a Jazzy mood, put down the distortion and stuff.. They better start understand it.. they jam on a classical rock n roll song.. they better jam in rock n roll style.. not at theyre own one..

    Thats what i think.

  • @MrAmitGendelman the classic Little Wing jam has been repeated so many times, that this is refreshing once in a while. I think you're just jeaulous of their skills. Wich is not a big deal, lots of people are, but do not criticise this if you can't do it better.

  • nunak vi uma mulher toca guitarra tao bem assim impressionivel

  • Oh My Fucking God orianthi is a prety woman and an extraordinary guitarrist. Steve vai... whitout comments, HE is the GOD of GODS playing the guitar.HE is an alien!!! I Love him!!!

  • orianthi is a beauty

  • Orianthi--Overplaying much?

  • Whenever it's Satch / Vai / ?? with this song imparticular, Satch always blows them away, it's like he's the only one that gets the vibe of the song and plays to it better then the others.. just my opinion.

  • Tony McAlpine and you're crazy fucking 7 string guitar!

  • background guy? that's tony mcapline, one of the sickest guitarist/musician on the planet.

  • That's totally the guy I'd expect Satch to be. He's the one who calls the background guy up to play. I love Steve Vai, but he's just not that humble. Joe is a super nice, down to earth guy who happens to be more talented than the rest of us.

  • Crazy, man! Satriani, Vai and Orianthi are amazing! Thanks for this video

  • Never mind the fact the Hendrix never burnt huis guitar at Miami.

  • I deserve to be up there far before she does...

  • @pacattez Oh I bet you do...

  • Orianthi is just background music in my opinion..

  • I HATE the fact that they turned tony's amp so low

  • Wonder if Jimi would enjoy that...

  • This video reminds me of this one time when I was forced to eat a dog turd before getting to eat some cherry, apple, and pumpkin pie.

  • Orianthi kept up with eveyone on stage for sure.

  • Joe Satriani was coheadliner for the benefit also.

  • @pieceopiece yeah who's really paying attention?

  • Comment removed

  • Not bad! :)

  • tony mcalpine has one big ass guitar... how many strings is that?

  • Orianthi ..........

    turn off the distortion.

    lets see you then..

  • @NKomash What's the matter? Hate to see a woman breaking d*cks off with HER guitar!!

  • @NKomash

Jimi played with a good deal of distortion.

Give her credit she is learning from the best.

  • What makes me sad is so many unknown talented guys on youtube and those guys, who keep instrumental guitar music alive, instead of opening their stages to them keep calling Orianthi who clearly has nothing to add, she's nothing but an ordinary player, Maybe she got the look? Well skinny and with a body of a 12 years old boy. Her music? Generic. Her playing? Nothing special. So what's wrong with those guys? Yeah I know, contracts, lawyers, money etc! I wish I was famous to open my stage to them ;)
  • @Trevaland see but that doesn't make sense how often do you see a female guitarist that can get that kind of sound out of her guitar...not many she is an incredible guitarist and brings guitar back to mainstream...she is by no means ordinary some of the greats and the music industry would tell you so...ask Carlos Santana...ask Steve Vai...carrie underwood...or if you could Jackson himself who really catapulted her career. If these people though she was talented then there is no question

  • @Trevaland Obviously, you're an idiot!
