50.000 is a lot just from the homeguard - you gotta think about that noone sends their entire military to one contry - take the Afghan conflict or war or whatever it is - if I heard correct there is 12.000 allies soldiers, and thats from entire NATO - but not sure if I am right.

You cant really compare the US to Denmark - we all know that the US probaly has the largest military.

We are a small contry, but we are able to kick one hell of a punch :)

Anyway, Aalborg Hospital has 828 beds, 7374 employees and a budget of 2.296.310.303 Kr, making it one of the five largest hospitals in Denmark as far as I'm aware.

This "mr knw it all" happens to know that the Danish Navy doesn't even have a reaction plan in case of an invasion.

Besides, trying to defend Denmark with big ships are a loosing proposition. (Arguably, trying to defend ourselves at all is a loosing proposition.) If we truly intended for our navy to be capable of defending us, they'd need large numbers of fast (and preferably stealthy) missiles boats and maybe submarines instead.

I know that Denmark does not have a plan of that kind! I never said anything about Denmark had plans like that of any kind but, the ships that you said didn't have any kind of capability of defending Denmark is not right! The ships have (you probably know this) long range anti airplane missiles. The navy has the responsibility for the Danish air space so if 9/11 happened in Denmark they would be able to shut the plane down. Sorry for the Mr. Know it all, did mean it in a bad way ;)

The reasoning is that the enemies we can defend against aren't physically capable of invading us, and the ones that can invade us are so much bigger that resistance would be futile. And I must say I agree with them. Why waste money on maintaining a defensive military if we'll have to surrender anyway?

Well about the tax money NATO says that every country should have about 2.00% of the tax money go to the military. Denmark has 1.30% so there is still a lot of money left if you think that is the problem it really isn't. What armies are you thinking off? Because at the time the Russian army only has about 400,000 people in it.

This Frigate is something i think the Royal Navy should consider buying but with a diffrent weapons and possibly sensor fit. The handy thing is the design is easily able to accomodate the sampson radar as well therfore would be politically viable here in the UK.

Nope, it isn't classified how many aircraft we have. The technical specifications on the other hand is, but you can find out how many ships of every class every country has in Jane's Fighting ships, and the same with aircraft in the Aircraft Appendix (SC i'm sure). These books are available for everyone, along with weapon specifications and other fun stuff:-) There's not so much secrecy in the military any longer, not in Denmark at least.

The base model F15 would get beat but a growth model would wreck a Eurofighter and a Gripen etc. It would match up against a growth model Sukhoi. But yes the Gripen is a marvellous aircraft cheap, flexible and built by some of the nicest and ingenious people in the world. I think the Gripen NG would be the best choice for a F16 replacment for the Danish Air Force. Anyway Greetings from Scotland.

Well until now not everything is for sure because the ships are not build yet. But as I say until now it is the 127 mm cannon that it will have. That is the official and updated fact sheet. And about the Tomahawk missile (krydsermissiler) it looks like Denmark will take the SM2 missile but some things could still change but it is not very likely to happen.

Im unsure about a Tomahawk fit as that would require the Strike length Mk41VLS which goes down quite a few decks and with the weapons bay at the top of the ship it may cause some problems. There are actually 3 diffrent variants of the lancher It will be intresting to know which one they are fitting.
