Cheers for the feedback! Just so you know Bakes192, roller rockers tend to have a much higher ratio than factory (non-roller tipped) rockers. This acts as if the camshaft were to have higher lift. Not only that, the life of the valve stems is dramatically increased and wear is reduced.
And just because i wasnt wearing a shirt doesnt make me a backyard mechanic either - this motor and everything I do has justification. 202 engines have no adjustment for rockers, however the 186 styled do.
Mate if the engine has got a hydraulic cam and lifters then having roller rockers would give you absoulty no power advantage or any advantage for that matter. Its just a waste of money. You put them on high reving engines with solid cam and solid lifters because with out them the top of your valves mushroom over creating excessive valve lash over a short period of time. Your method would have been the go back when grey motors were in their prime.
These motors mainly have hydraulic cams, so thats not quite possible... The holden 6cyl motors running solid cams are generally race/drag motors, not hot street motors like this one!
Nice tits

Do we get to see the vacuum reading after its' done?
This will determine if tings is too tight.
And we don't get to see if there is a wear pattern on the valve stem tip.
But that is being too picky.
Nice engine, but you should put in a V-8 so more oil will splash all over the place.
This will make work for 50 000 unemployed janitors.

or you could just....you know...do it the right way...and turn your cam for zero lash :-)

is spring removal the same on v6 and v8 engines?
rolando4812 3 years ago
but like if there hydrolic lifters your suposto tighten till no lash then 1/4 more and the lifter adjust them selves..
if solid lifters they need to be adjusted with feeler gage.

Self taught! Read it then do it!! Pretty easy job to do if you know your way around a motor!
