    greetz from Germany

  • What event was this for?

  • Comment removed

  • What is the title of the opening march? (There must be 50 euphoniums in the trio).

  • second to none

  • the very best

  • i love british army band marching music its the best in the whole world keep on marching long may the British Empire rule the world Amen

  • Must have been pleasantly noisy...

  • Why cant they do this Before every England game :D

  • @yidarmylad666 They can't do it because - this is where you look at the date - this was filmed in 1983. Most of these bands no longer exist, and you should ask yourself if you ever voted for the pack of fools who got rid of them

  • Glory glory Man. United song.

  • SOME PEOPLE SAY THE CHINEES GOT MORE ARMY BALA BALA BALA WE CAN WIPE THEM OUT OFTHIS EARTH IN 2 MINUTES IF WE WANT IS NOT THE NUMBERS. ITS ALL ABOUT THE TALENT WE HAVE AND TACTICS OR WAR , RULE BRITANNIA RULE BRITANNIA

  • @honeylondon1 China is not easy to defeat my boy...!!! They are going to be the bane of our lives later...!!

  • What is the name of the piece that start at 2:22? thanks

  • @Byron10301 The tune is the Battle Hymn of the Republic over here in the states.

  • @ZeitgeistWI I appreciate it

  • is there eny better

  • Seriously? Why must people ruin these videos with political commentary rather than enjoying them?

  • Huzzah!!!!!

  • o________________________O

  • london 2012!!

  • I was wondering why they had trouble making a straight line, then realized they were reading their music.

  • It's a shame that in the 21st century, half of these respective corps have been disbandoned by the British government :/

  • @douglaspotterpress I'm American, so I am going to acknowledge my ignorance of the organization of British marching bands. Are these soldiers purely professional muscians, like their American counterparts, or are they also trained to fulfill a combat or support role? That's ashame about funding. I have always felt the US military severly neglects pomp and circumstance. While the primarily purpose of militaries is to wage war, they also inoculate the public with a healthy amount of patriotism.

  • @Jsledge85 hi rich..just to answer your question all band members are fully trained soldiers but combine a medical role but if ineed be they can man bases..

    philip

  • @Jsledge85

They're professional musicians who have also been trained in basic training (so can also be infantry soldiers). These musicians can also be supplemented as Medical Corps soldiers for the army.

  • @Jsledge85 Yes their fully trained. ANd you know those giards outside Buckingham Palace with their tall black hats? And the various other decorated Guards around the city? Their also fully trained for combat.

  • @OfficialRJLextro That is simply outstanding!

  • It's not just the penny pinching politicians, Its the floodgates the immigrants. This country is raped billions a year from foreign migrants, abusing the system, taking benefits, taking jobs, being here illegally, sending money home.

  • @wank0r And rich tax oging corporations like David Camerons pals who benefitted by nearly £69 billion a year since his election...speaking as a former Royal Marine Commando im disgusted by this govt , freezing the lads (and ladies) pay and cancelling tonnes of new upcoming kit designs.

  • @wank0r I feel oblidged once more to admit I am not a British citizen, and that my knowledge of the average Briton's views on illegal immigration are limited to articles posted in the NY Times and Economist. I sincerely thope the UK will aggressively tackle this issue in the future. The US is plagued by the same problem. intellectual debate among liberal politicians stagnated long ago. Europe and Russia must provide an example for us to follow, your brothers are counting on you over here.

  • @wank0r Well don't forget the people who are actually native to the UK. They abuse the system also....

  • Actually the UK now spends more on welfare than it does on defence. But thats the reason why you will not see this spectical again. A lot of the regiments and their bands have gone.

  • Pirates seem to need pretty clothes before they go pillaging, raping and looting.

This is a people despised by the Scots, Irish, Welsh, Indians, Chinese, Africans et al. Now, of course, they are becoming the Portugal of the 21st Century. Broke and irrelevant.

  • 1:55 is simply epic!

  • Comment removed

  • If they ever did this again, I'm pretty sure I would fly from the U.S. just for this. Just to see 1300 musicians playing at once.

  • Glory, glory hallelujah, winning comes Jesus!!!

  • I agree with Wisdomfanatic if we have this during the 2012 olympics then its gonna be an amazing opening ceremony

  • This is fucking bad ass. Too bad we don't have this in the States.

  • AMERICA!!!

  • @mentosC4 nope.

  • @mentosC4 ???

  • @mentosC4 No this is GREAT BRITON!!!

  • @mazerhat For being a Spanish speaker, I can tell you that you mispelled "were". have a nice day.

  • wish people played more attention to this bands or corps of drums, im 13 and play the bugle my self and wish i could play in a massed band like that. it sounds bloody amazing.

Cant agree more with TheMiniuzi23 this makes our country look amazing, we dont need no Beijing opening ceremony for the Olympics, get as many massed bands together as we can and show the world what we really, were a glorious country, were looked down upon by many a country, this is our time to shine.

  • It's nice to hear the crowd cheer an American military classic ... Battle Hymn of the Republic!

  • @rmerrill1986 I think the crowd is cheering on the band mate more than anything else.

  • Th echo at 2:04 is absolutely stunning!

  • WOW! Never be as good as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the English just cannie do it!!!! SOAR ALBA

  • @haggisneill This is better than the Edinbugh Military Tattoo any day. Believe me!

  • Diese SUPER-BAND zu meinem 50. Geburtstag in unserem Vorort... :o) DAS wäre vielleicht ein Ding!!!!!

Werde wohl das Video sehen müssen *lach*

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!

  • Roll on British Olympics 2012 :) going to be amazing...hope they show the real traditional British history of the biggest empire in world history as well as our culture and royal family...the world loves this thing of thing tens of millions come to see it every year we really have to show it off !

  • Why are they playing the Battle Hymn of the Republic?

  • @dame56 The only British link i can think of is that Winston Churchill was very fond of this song and he requested it to be played at his funeral. Also the song is popular among football chants in England but i doubt thats why the British army played it lol.

  • I am from malaysia.. THIS IS AWSSSSSSSSSOME!

  • O governo não está gastando bilhões com essa apresentação TheMiniuzi23, pois, são várias bandas dos regimentos do exército inglês: já está tudo pago. Então a curiosidade está no Brasil onde até guarda municipal tem banda.

  • My god! They don't make them like this anymore!

  • ONe of the great shames of the last decade has been the absence of the Royal tournament, the most kick ass event in london every summer, shame

  • Nice display. Greetings form a Jerry..

  • @Thaulopi with respect jerry Germany our ancestors

  • ಠ_ರೃ

  • Freaking amazing. Go the Brits.!

  • esta muy bonito

  • Back when Britain had a real presence in the world. This sort of brilliant pageantry and symbolic might is now beyond us due to weak governments penny pinching our military defence. Back then we could field a naval expedition to travel 8000 miles and drive the Argentinians out of the Falklands, couldn't do that now either

  • @thebigJM92 I'm not in a position to comment on that but history shows you have some very loyal children across the globe that can spend a lot on the military, and we can be pretty belligerent in assisting our mother country. Once we ultimately get involved, huh.

  • @1276epr Loyal 'children' because the 'children' always knew that, on the whole, we were in the right- whatever the smaller family differences were. The "Anglo-saxon" world (term used loosely) always shared a core set of values that we considered important enough to fight for, and that has twice meant helping out the motherland to protect them. The idea of modern democracy, free trade, freedom of the individual, trial by jury etc were all formed in Britain and highly valued in the USA.

  • @thebigJM92 all insightful remarks. IMHO Great Britain was fortunate, blessed, etc., to have that Channel between herself and that morass of continental nationality conflicts marred with belligerent despots arguing over 30 square feet of real estate. That little strip of water might have done as much for you guys as the pond did for us. If Hitler couldn't cross the English Channel, he probably couldn't get across the Atlantic.

  • @1276epr And Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc. But Britain cannot rely solely on its allies and friends, despite sharing core values. None of them would provide active assistance in defending somewhere like the Falkland Islands. The US may let us use Ascension Island (which is ours anyway really) but the fighting would have to be done by us, and we simply couldn't do it now.

  • @Sammy1234568910 Absolutely agree with you!

  • @Sammy1234568910 you ready to close some hospitals and cut university places to pay for a larger navy? some tax increases maybe?

  • @Sammy1234568910 great. so all the people 'felling the pinch' already will be overjoyed to have their taxes increased, as you suggest, so that we can maintain the tradition of nice parades.

  • @blueray1969 i never said anything about parades? I was talking about operational deployments we have two main military parades. trooping the colour and the Edinburgh tattoo along with the less well known but just as spectacular beating the retreat and Windsor tattoo which being world famous and attracting hundreds if not thousands actually make money.!

  • @Sammy1234568910 I'm sure the Edinburgh tattoo makes money, not least in the amount of of tourists spend on hotels etc. My point is, there is a reason that the defence budget is under pressure.

  • @blueray1969 too many sponging off the state now in further education who then end up in supermarkets working as there are not enough jobs to go round.

At least those in the military are earning the low wage for what they do.

  • @fingertalkin I agree with you. In fact, too many people going to uni when they are not needed by the economy. you don't need a degree to stack shelves.

  • @thebigJM92

No need to do that, in 1982, the argies disembarked hunderds of men to fight against only 50 marines

But now you have over there: type 42 destroyers (with plans of changing them for type 45 ones)

a british army base with at least 500 soldiers

a RAF base with a bunch of eurofighters

So in the VERY UNLIKELY case the argies decide to go for a second round, all its invasion fleet would be sunk without even one argie setting foot upon falklands beaches

  • @948L0 Those 50 men put up a great fight that they and we can be proud of, but Argentina did take the islands and it took a sizeable force indeed to take them back, including many ships, 90% of the RAF's harrier fleet and thousands of soldiers, including SAS

  • @thebigJM92

    I know, I know

    Im siding with the british

Im just saying that the argies are claiming the flaklands again now that the UK announced they found oil, if not for that, the argies wouldnt even bother claiming them

And spanish REPSOL has signed a contract with argentinian YPF, giving REPSOL exclusive rights over argentinian oil

That means that in the case Argentina controls falklands, all that oil would belong to Spain, not Argentina, as they wrongfully believe

  • @948L0 I know you are siding with Britain and you do have my gratitude for that, i'm just worrying! As far as history goes Spain has more of a claim to the Falklands than Argentina does, so if Britain wasn't to get the oil Spain should. Argentina's only claim to the island other than closeness (which is a pathetic argument since it would mean hundreds if not thousands of islands changing hands) is that when the Argentine people rebelled against Spain they claimed the islands from them too.

  • @thebigJM92

And now that the UK announced that it has found oil in the islands, the argies are reclaiming them more than ever

They are fools if they think that in the case the islands goes under argentinian control, all that oil will belong to them

The argentinian oil company YPF has a contract with the Spanish oil company REPSOL, so that REPSOL extracts the oil for them, so that means argentinian oil belongs to Spain, and the same with the Falklands oil if some day Argentina controls Falklands

  • @thebigJM92

When I said "they are fools", I was talikng about the argies, not the british, just in case a misunderstanding happens if you think i was talking about the british

  • @thebigJM92 I wouldn't worry, the tale of history repeats itself eg. China was once the greatest country in the world and now it looks like that will happen again, armies only grow if they need to so when britain has to defend itself things will change, and the present 16 year olds want to rebuild britain, we just need to get rid of the sad policies of current governments. I look forward to the days when you just invade countries that want borrowed money back again! ;D

  • @oxfordacademystudios Ha ha I hope so! China is a very interesting example. It has had many peaks and troughs over its long history. The peak is normally mid-way through a dynasty and the troughs are either end of them! I wonder if it will still be as strong when the communist party falls? Either way Britain will hopefully still be their, unified and independent too!

  • @IMRAN3521 And yet the Pakistan army hasn't got the ability to spell properly. For a second there, I thought you wanted us dead :)

  • @IMRAN3521 i think its time for another crusade boys, every single english, scotish, welsh and irishman is worth 3 muslims!

i really bear no ill will to you or your religion, but we won't back down if you push us to far.

  • This is wonderful, congratulations dear England. México

  • loving those 19th century uniforms.

  • @yeeeeeehaaaaaa2011 we were - it is no longer possible to muster a mass band of this size - the UK Armed Forces have been cut by almost 50% since this parade in the 80's

  • im so proud to be British!!!!!!!

I hope this is included in the 2012 Olympics! :)

  • @Wisdomfanatic2011 It would have been great, but over half the bands have now been cut and there are plans for cutting more. And they did it while everyone slept.

  • @Wisdomfanatic2011 i think that would be the best opening every in olympic history tbh

  • @Wisdomfanatic2011 ....I'm Malaysian and I was there for the 1st time at Buckingham Palace on 5/6/11 to watch the change of the Royal Guard with their Band...it was Magnificient....Yes..you shoud be proud indeed..& they should be included in the coming Olympics..Bravo..!!

  • brilliant

  • Oh and add in some bag pipes they sound awesome to.

  • Imagine getting all the british army bands together like this for the 2012 olympics ! that would be something special

  • @TheSplash55 I was thinking the same thing how good would that be as the opening

  • @bfddanny1987 That would be pretty epic and shows how epic really is and they can play different music not just army themes so it would be just as awesome.

  • @TheSplash55 if we did it would be about 1/4 of this size

  • @mruppity64 your right it may even be smaller one daywe will have a British Army Band no regiments

hope i never see the day

  • grandiose , impresionnant ,rien a redire : GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

the very big show , this is the best show <3

  • This is the best !! <3

  • Any government that reduces our armed forces will eventually regret its stupidity , our forces are about the only thing left that it Great in Britain today!

  • The best of British cannot be matched by any nation!

  • I want this to open the 2012 Olympic Games.

    Seriously.

  • @TehRicc

As an Aussie republican, id love the old dart to put on such a display. Show the might, pomp, pageantry and a bit of spirit which wouldn't go astray right now.

  • So is the Battle Hymn of the Republic a European piece copied by the Americans?

  • Makes the north Korean and Chinese marches look like shit! xD Britain needs to take over the world again! shit would get done!

  • God bless the United Kingdom from ISRAEL

  • @omerahr

God bless ISRAEL from the United kingdom to you too. :)

  • If patriotism was a disease, then I guess I'm terminal with it :)

  • who the fuck would dislike this

  • BOYCOTT london 2012 Olympic game.

  • Haha, now I know why they added a fast forward button into youtube, makes it quite funny xD

  • i am gleaming with pride right now!

  • @Taiginator Most countries (outside of Britain) refer to the UK as 'England', sadly.

  • @MidgardMessiah Most countries (outside of Britain) refer to England as 'Britain', sadly.

  • @tyranid77 Good try, smart arse.

  • @MidgardMessiah I didn't mean to offend... if I did.

  • I am German but when I watch this video, I wished that I'm English

  • @sniperkaya43234 You wish that you were a Briton more like! This march isn't Glorifying "England" or the "English"! It's Glorifying the fact that 3 very different countries united and became the most powerful union in the world by doing so! Wales, England and Scotland! You wish you were British :) As a Welshman myself I must correct you. Too many people call "Britain" as "England". If it's anything, I wish Britain's government was a decisive and efficient as Germany's.

  • @LolFishFail: Don't forget the Northern Irish!

  • @TheSmithersy Northern Ireland isn't part of Great Britain. It was a British Colony, Northern Ireland is part of the UK though.

  • Starting at 1:54 to 2:12 . Gotta love basses in a drumline...the engine of a marching band. Powerful and chilling.

  • why i can'nt post any video links. at 2:23 it's the same melody like in american history x the white man marches on

  • Comment removed

  • what was the occasion?

  • well i never i,m a drummer in the front rank with the spikey pith helmet i,ve never seen this vid just called the wife to show her

  • Music is for fags

  • 3:44 all i hear is we're not brzil we're northern ireland :p

  • 2012 opener pls ;D

  • I am neither British nor American, but for some reason when they start playing the Battle Hymn of the Republic it almost makes me weep.

  • @DerFeindr I am American and had the same reaction. This work was played at the funeral of Winston Churchill at St. Paul's Cathedral and was equally moving. It was a sort of recognition I suppose of Churchill's American ties - he was half American (his mother), and of course English. Or as he liked to put it, " I'm 50% American and 100% British!". Either way, he has a special place here, as does the Battle Hymn. I wish it were our national anthem.

  • @dsindc Indeed, I like it more than the Star Spangled Banner (although it's not like I had any right to decide...), the same happens with my own country's anthem and another composition, the Russians and French must be glad they'll never have this problem, haha.

  • @DerFeindr I am an American who lost my 2nd Great grandfather at the battle of Chancellorsville (115th Pa. Volunteers) during the civil war. We just sang this yesterday at the end of Mass and I had nothing but pride swelling in my heart and tears in my eyes. As you know or may not know the history it was a Union hymn.

  • @rpmccann1 yeah and its a great one

  • Nice!!!!!

  • is this at twickenham?

  • @bobasagit

No, it's the old Wembley Stadium that was knocked down to make way for the new stadium.

  • Wow!!! This is a really really really giant band!!

  • That's the largest band I've ever seen.

  • I'm Proud to be British! My Ancestors served the King's Navy!

Hail Britannia! God save the Queen!

  • AWSOME!

  • Does this make anyone think of the Napoleonic War? Back when armies fought like this.

  • As far as I've seen, the British army bands supersedes almost everyone in the world.

  • Wish the government would spend money on something like this, instead of giving billions away to India and china who probably can look after themselves by now tbh

  • @TheMiniuzi23 Vote UKIP/BNP and its sorted.

  • @TheMiniuzi23 True true! Clearly states which country you come from. lol :P

  • @TheMiniuzi23 The government is spending all the money on aid to other countries or getting more and more muslims in this country which is fucked up.

  • @DevilLordful It's good that you talk about - talk about it in the real world as much as you discuss it on youtube. Talk about Islam in the supermarket, on the bus, tell people you have had it, tell people you want this craziness to end ... DO NOT BE AFRAID of being labelled racist. Intelligent people know islam is not a race. besides, we don't have a problem with muslims as inviduals. We want Sharia practices BANNED. no ninja costumes, no circumcision of women no censorship ...

  • @Byron10301 I'm American, and I agree with you. I just returned from Paris, not my first time. But I visited St. Denis in the northern suburbs and was shocked to see the massive (mostly) Muslim ghettos. I would strongly suggest you read 'Reflections on the Revolution in Europe' by Christopher Caldwell - in Europe, the author argues, the clash between Western civilization and the Muslim world has already been lost -- in the latter's favor. It's pretty freightening.

  • @TheMiniuzi23 with the cuts I doubt we will have enough men to guard the palaces at the rate their cutting if they keep it up let alone do anything operational or any thing like this and you are correct we should stop foreign aid apart from certain circumstances till we sorted we cant afford to give other countries billons when we are cutting services in our own country

  • @kingnick104 Securicor will be guarding the palace by the end of the decade - you'll see!
