I have an 87 model with powervalve, racing reed valves, short stack air filter, quick throttle, uprated piston and rings, new clutch, induction kit etc. Been shaving weight off too. be careful when buying. As I found, they can be on the verge of seixing. But parts are easily available. Try for a low mileage, with fairing and as few bumps n scrapes as possible.
How fast was you going round the corner. I remember my mate used to have one of these bikes and he opened up the powervalve system and said have a go and it was very quick. He said he managed 100 mph on the clock. Bloody good little bike, The only problem is how it drinks the fuel but it's worth it.
Your right! People just don't understand how sweet 2 strokes are. I just rebuilt mine and I laugh at how simple yet powerful that little motor is. My bike is just a piston and a spark plug it has no valves, no timing chain, no cams, no crap I can break and any idiot can fix them. It's awesome. Long live the 2 smokers
