Ha, I cringed when you reversed the spindle and the threading tool lifted up, until I saw the hinge. Neat idea! Watch out for swarf under the tool, though.
On the design of the tool, swarf was taken well into consideration, and after cutting a few threads, it looks like it isn't going to be much of a problem. The next vid shows it in fully swing.

It was a concept from another person that I took upon myself to prove and get working.
This is cutting a 5mm pitch thread, so rather large. No light cuts, no chatter, no galling, no problems. I am now going to do a vid to show cutting a 2mm thread both right and left handed in a piece of steel bar.
To be honest, I am amazed at how well it does cut, and it is much faster than retracting and using the drop in dial. .
That's really great ... no need to back the tool out as you re-set for the next pass. Is this toolholder your own design? Given that the tool is free to move upwards is chatter more of a concern (ie, than with a rigid toolholder) if you need to make light cuts?
