Some points for those doing this operation. You'll need a number six miniature torx driver and a jewelry screwdriver, phillips type. The key board connector disconnects by gently lifting the plug up but all other connectors work by unlocking their grip and sliding them away. When prying the bezel around the screen away, watch out. There are a lot of iSight electronics tucked in there. I barely scratched something and iSight was broken. One clip got stuck and had to be torn out. Bezel bends easily
Thanks for the video. I followed and my new lcd is working great. However, during the assemble process I broke the latch for the isight camera and now it isnt working. Any suggestions on how that can be fixed ?
Depends how it's broken I suppose. If the plastic clip popped out, it can be put back in with tweezers, if the entire socket is ripped out, then you should visit eBay for an affordable replacement.
Does this tutorial apply to all non-unibody MacBook Pros? I would like very much to replace my broken LCD panel on my Santa Rosa 2.2 GHz C2D model (A1226) and I'd like to know if this is the right path to follow. Thanks.
@schinasm They should be the same, just remember not to tug and pull on something which doesn't seem to come out easily. make sure all the screws mentioned here are out before pulling off the palm rest.
We do not typically recommend resolution upgrades, quite often there is more to it than just plug and play. Upgrading to LED is not the most smooth topic either. Although there are converting kits, but I really doubt it would work for a Mac, since most Mac screens are specifically locked to run on a Mac with firmware.
Hello. Cool tutorial. I actually need to replace a screen on my MA896LL/A. I checked your site and you actually have it in stock and for a good price. However I was wondering if I can upgrade at the same time (i.e. go for a different model of lcd / led that would support higher resolution - 1680 x 1050)? If so - which model should I go with? Thank you.
@mauayalaa Don't panic, you probably didn't reconnect something. As far as Mac's go, we've had experience recovering Macs back from liquid spills that PCs would never come back from. So keep at it, check the power connections first, battery to mobo, and the AC jack to mobo, and keep going through all the connectors you've touched, or didn't.
