I'd rather have met Seattle Slew than any human celebrity past or present any day. I watched his every race if it was on tv and he was absolutely something to see. The most beautiful horse I've ever seen as well.
seattle slew is awesome!! I had a grandaughter of his! she is a great mom, but sadly we had to sell her! She is for sale again for less then wat she should be! If i didnt have other horses i would buy her back! she was amazing. Seattle Slew has produced some awesome dressage horses!
Awesome video, carly! IMHO the best part were the graphics: yellow letters on the black background(just like his Taylor silks co-incidentally)-nothing fancy, all business not unlike the great Seattle Slew himself :)
I'll always remember Eddie Arcaro an analyst for ABC never liking Seattle Slew. I believe he referred to himas the best of a mediocre crop. Seattle slew totally proved him wrong when he easilly beat 1978 Triple crown Winner Affirmed.
I remember that too. Eddie was so jealous of SLEW'S greatness. You know what, after SLEW retired, i'll bet that Eddie's jealousy grew to alarming proportions, because SLEW was such a great great stallion. Eddie's Citation was a failure at stud, with only 12 stakes winners from over 20 crops. While SLEW HAD THAT MANY IN HIS FIRST TWO CROPS!!!
Yeah, Eddie Arcaro was a jerk in '77. Slew had other detractors also. Andrew Beyer admitted he was wrong about Slew, on a horse racing panel on Larry King's Mutual Radio show. King and the other panelists burst into mock applause.
In '78, Jimmy the Greek Snyder was sucking up to Affirmed and Laz Barrera. He picked Affirmed both times over Slew. Before the Jockey Club Gold Cup I remember his exact prediction on CBS: "Affirmed to win easily, Exceller second and Seattle Slew a poor third."
Twice even. Slew is my favorite horsie, although I picked Run, Dusty, Run to win it all in 77 (I was 9 and liked the "way he looked" and thought he had a cool name, which, to a nine year old boy, are the two most important things of course...so please gimmie a break) I always liked the fact that Slew looked almost bored when he ran .....as if it was all so easy. Peace.
I guarantee this one's gonna shoot up quickly once people return from their Christmas slumber . . . by the way Merry Christmas, carly! Hope your holiday is going well. I'm STUFFFFFFED with turkey; are you?
(Obviously just 1 man's opinion) I think that, as good as your other works have been, this is BY FAR the most rousing, stirring, and attention-grabbing project of yours I've ever seen! I've watched the thing 6 times in the last half hour!

One of SEATTLE SLEW'S greatest sons was SWALE. I have published a book all about his life. The title is: GRIT AND VALOR: THE STORY OF SWALE.
