Dear ROLT you are a GENIUS, great respect for putting this together. I love the song and specially the beautiful voice of Chaka Khan. Nothing beats that strength in her performance.
@pablomartinjauregui Hi Pablo, no I'm not yet, I'd like to make a new RWTribute but I don't have enough live material of Rick's from late 70's, in time I'll get some idea. Thanks for your appreciation, my best wishes!
OMG thanks for posting this. Isn't Chaka something else - and wow what a song - take a bow Rick Wakeman. I haven't heard this for years and it just made me feel so good to hear this again.
Beautiful song by Rick Wakeman, especially the keyboard solo in the middle. Does anyone know if that's Bill Bruford on drums?
A bloody depressing film (and book) though, 1984 is. Some people in the world actually live under repressive governments like this (e.g. in Burma and Zimbabwe). Hope and optimism is sometimes all these people have got, plus rebellion if they get desperate enough. Poor sods.
I have always loved this song but I was totally wrong about who sang it. I also love the live version, although the girl seems to struggle a bit with some notes. Now I recognize the voice after seeing this video. Chaka Khan is just wonderful.
Yes, it's Chaka on the original recording, but actually she's not singing Rick's songs in this video, I captured images from Chaka's live video where she only sings her own songs, I made the video edition to simulate she's really singing those songs. Thanks for watching.
@TheCmelmoneyman Chaka is singing only on the audio, the video takes is from a show of her where she doesn't sing anything by RW but only her own songs.
ESSA MÚSICA É PURA MAGIA. CHAKA KHAN DIVINA E RICK WAKEMAN UM GêNIO.

"Under the spreading chestnut tree.
I sold you, and you sold me.
There lie they, and here lie we
Under the spreading chestnut tree".
An almost impossible-to-sing melody line, magically performed by Chaka Khan. And some of Rick's best work. Peace:-)

This song helped me, me when i was sad, young and struggled in a broken love-affair. So beautiful and great voive of Chaka Cahn.
And of course the best keybord playing of rick Wakeman.
I've searc this song fot very long time cause i've kept beautiful memories of it.
