  • I nearly ate my laptop when i saw the bacon :-)

  • cooked bacon like that many times on the shovel. Best and fastest way :)

  • when will it be back on the mainline

  • is 4771 cheaper than british gas for breakfast lol.

  • If you 'crack' the blower on a touch you wouldn't fill the cab with smoke....

  • man, where is your blower at, more smoke coming out the fire door that the stack

  • That is one way to pass the time when your engine is steaming up. haha XD

  • Was that fast food back in the day?

  • RIP Green Arrow

  • magnifique et bravo,merci a++++

  • Lol, the guy at 7:28 sounded like John Lennon a little bit.XD

Also, at 7:17, is that man taking the baffle plate out of the firebox?

  • Sounds more like Middlesborough tin tin to me, Look him up on youtube

At 7:17 Adam is taking the baffle plate out to inspect the tubeplate, That's why he needs the torch to see what's above the brickarch and in the shadows

  • yep that would be me sounding like john lennon.

  • Well Mark, you've put a smile on my face. This video makes me grin all the time I watch it. These guys (and you) are hard workers on British steam locomotives.

  • I was too busy to film the whole of the steam test but also took a few stills which are in the NYMR April 2008 gallery on my fotopic site

  • It's amazing how this video starts off with the Green Arrow at 0 PSI and then goes to 175 PSI. How long was this whole event (outside of the video)?

  • Well The fire would have been lit around 6am, We arrived on shed and I started filming around 10:30am when things had warmed through but the fire was pretty dead, We were kept pretty busy livening up the fire and actually had breakfast at dinnertime, We had to bring things round slowly and the valves finally lifted about 4pm and the loco was disposed of about an hour later, As you know 4771 passed it's exam and performed the following weekend on its farewell run.

  • I wish I was in the cab of the Green Arrow at this time. I would've cooked cheeseburgers, hotdogs, and grilled chicken for everybody by roasting them over the fire.:(

  • yeah

  • How dare you forget eggs! lol

  • is that the flying scotmans sister

  • No, they're a different class of locomotive, Green arow is smaller.

  • cousin perhaps? builder ect.

  • the scotsman is an a3 pacific, its sister loco is the great northern. check it out its cool

  • o ok

  • yummy

  • so mark, how was the breakfast on 4771. was it good?

  • Tasted superb and luckily the V2 did get to make a final run, No news on a return to service yet though

  • so what exactly did breakfast consist of that morning.

  • Bacon, Mushrooms and Tomato in a bun with Black fingerprints all over it

  • really, i could of sworn i saw one guy cook chicken breasts on the shovel.

  • It was my unexpected privilege to see this beautiful machine make her final passenger run on the NYMR on Saturday 26th April. Many, many thanks to all involved in making this possible. Here's hoping that she will be able to run again at some time in the future.

  • yey, she may run her final week
