People of color are the majority in the world. Once they realize that- racism will finally start to die. Gotta take back power. We fear a brown planet. And all suffer because of it.
what is tragic is all of the prejudice and racism that people of color endured in those times.I believe she was always looking for real love real acceptance for who she was.not just cause of her looks which is one of the real reasons for her movie roles a combo of "looking white, dipped in chocolate"all people of color back then had to work twice as hard as whites for the smallest recognition and respect...sad thing is now the ones who don't sell out today still go thru the same thing...smh.
I am so tired of these docus on Dorothy that just focus on the tragedy in her life, Dorothy wasn't a tragic person, she wouldn't have accomplished all that she had if she were tragic, Dorothy was just like any other person, she made decisions in her life that she felt were right for her at the time.
I'd rather they make another film instead of these docus-
I totally agree with you. I wish they would focus more on her legacy than her tragedies. She was such an iconic figure for African Americans and it is time people give her the recognition she deserves.
@carmenjones411 As much as I adore Dorothy Dandridge, she was a tragic person. I have read so much about her and I have even seen a video of her sister saying so. Even though she had people around her, she was a very lonely and insecure woman like marilyn monroe. But she is a legend whose beauty is everlasting.
I couldn't agree with you more. Dorothy lead a complicated life, compounded by an indifferent world that legally treated blacks as inferiors. Her only child was born mentally challenged.. Her ambitious and selfish mother was a lesbian, who deprived her of getting to know her real father. She allowed her lesbian lover to molest both her daughters, but Dorothy was determine to fight her way out of her dysfunctional home life. Her career was stalled due to racism.
