well, if you pay attention really closely and judge how far the earths atmosphere really goes, you can look at the other side of the earth in this vid and see where the atmosphere dramatically starts to get thinner (the end of it) and judgeing at how far up that is and how far up the camera "is" in this animation, you would barely be able to hear low frequencies from the very tiny bit of air that there is. good day oh and the camera shouldnt be shaking b4 the shockwave hits, <only false part

They failed physics and geography hard when they made this cutscene. The explosion appears to be traveling about 1/4 the speed of light, expands in straight lines instead of a circle, and covers the entire half of the planet we can see (and presumably much of the other half. To be an effective orbital weapon, the Ion Cannon would have to be in a low orbit and should be visible in this scene, and the beam would be hair thin from this distance. Also there's no sound or camera shake in space.
