These guys were always my favorite live band, I still listen to them often. One of the few drummers that NEVER bores me. Emerson has injured his hand permanently (so I've heard) but I still love to hear him play. They were extremely influential in music tech, but most important (to this 55 y.o. fan), they were just so damn entertaining! I still have my concert stub for their "Pictures" tour- cost me a whole $3!!
if Carl Palmer isn't influence on you(drummers),go get all the elp stuff and listen good,he invented practically progressive drumming, along w/Bruford,but always played melodically with complex pieces most drummers wouldn't know where to start or end,and in his solos even when ripping he maintained a flux over it
ppl have no idea how influential Emerson and Rick Wakeman were on the development of MIDI and music technology in general, they didn't just transcend their time musically, they gave all of today's kiddies all the "automated" stuff like the Korg Karma which does all the arpeggiating for you..any1 who is hatin on them has no idea how much they take for granted
@cykoaudio777 rick wakeman did not contribute to the development of MIDI. midi is a programme language sir, and wakeman was not the developer of this.
What a great sense of FUN Carl Palmer managed to put into that solo. People say that Prog is very po-faced but that was funny but still incredibly skillful at the the same time.
Greg DOES looks like he's spent too much time at the high street bakery that bears his name :-) Mind you, any bass player would grow fat playing 'Fanfare for the Common Man'! It's mostly just 'C' all the way through!
Sorry... good, but not great. Too fast. And I believe Palmer missed the turn around at 1:15, and it seemed to throw them off for a couple seconds.
Emerson seems to be the one holding it together, although his dissonance at 3:18 made it sound like he was getting tired. But maybe that's what they were going for...?
Should have used a metronome - what on earth were they thinking of ? - playing at the speed of light is NOT good !!!!! - and who's been eating all the pies???
Brilliant! We were there and it was awesome. Shows that age doesn't matter and getting five minutes with Carl Palmer was just a huge highlight! Thanks for the clip.
imho Carl is still just about the best drummer ever and like an idol to me from way back when I was young. I wonder if he still has time to do martial arts (Taek won do if I'm correct)
goosebumps all over my body.....totally heavenly, cant get any better....:)

Emerson has a problem with his right hand, he crosses his left over for the solo

Palmer is awesome however he DOES need to keep his shirt on.

I adore these guys, but I feel this performance is a bit lethargic. Lake is as big as a lake.
Palmer's drum solo is, however, awesome.

Isn't it crazy that 99.9999% of the people who enjoy this song have no idea who A. Copeland is!!

They are not that sharp. I guess I'll stick to my studio records... Too bad all these musicians are getting old.

@93bigelow Someday in a near future youre going to be old. The only difference about them and youd is that you're going to be a regular old folk : )

@cexo123 That's well said :)
But I just wanted to express my regret, as I was born a little too late to see them live
