I went to Cologne, Germany over my summer in 2010.

I miss it so much!

In fact I am working on my dual citizenship with the German consulate here in Chicago, US so that I may live there in the near future.

Saw a youtube video about Cologne by 3rd US army and the WWII battle that occurred here. I'll have a better appreciation of what's left here when I visit Cologne. There's so much destruction which is so sad.

Cheers Bob, the padlocks were put their by couples avowing commitment to each other, which I thought was quite unique and romantic. As you can see many of them are engraved with names. There are literally thousands of them.

Well I suppose the great thing about padlocks is that you can walk back to the bridge, unlock them and chuck them into the Rhine if things don't work out huh?

I think you're supposed to through all the keys to the lock in the Rhine ( so your love can NEVER be broken ).
