  • Benedict's voice is like a jaguar hiding in a cello. <3

  • Is it wrong that I find this the sexiest line *ever*? (...at the very least it probably shows a slightly less-than-healthy side of me. ;)

  • @StarryEyedAngel I'm kind of aroused by very smart sociopaths with dark hair, high cheekbones and Asperger syndrome. You are not alone.

  • His voice is so low because he smokes...

  • @Lilly5739 u mean benedict or sherlock?

  • @TheVenerated Well, Benedict plays Sherlock, so both of them I suppose. But I must say, his voice gives me the shivers. Lovely :o

  • omg that voice :]

  • Anderson, will you ever learn to GTFO

  • I need this series on DVD. Now.

  • Omg... his voice... <3

  • I'm not a psychopath Anderson, I'm the sexiest man alive.

  • @78kokka

    hahhahaha thats so true

  • Comment removed

  • We need more Anderson just so Sherlock can verbally attack him.

  • "Anderson, don't speak. You lower the IQ of everyone on this street."

  • ''Stop thinking Anderson, you're distracting me!''

  • Funnily enough I miss Sherlock's insults towards Anderson, everyone of them is a best insult on TV.

  • Anderson has a face you want to throw a brick at

  • Anyone else think Anderson sounds like David Mitchell?

BTW Sherlock rocks. Belting modern tv!

  • Anderson reminds me SO MUCH of the comedian Josh Widdicombe in this part that it's a lil bit scary...

  • @Clueless89 Yes indeed

  • Anderson is Snape Junior

  • "do you research" his voice...*outofbreath*

  • "Brilliant, Anderson."

    "Brilliant?"

"Yes. Brilliant impression of an idiot."

  • My last name is Anderson. I lower the IQ of my whole street.

  • Whenever i think of Sherlock saying im not a psychopath i just think of Sheldon from TBBT saying 'I'm not crazy... my mother had me tested...'

  • i fucking hate Anderson

  • @scjb045

true but he is an angel compared to donovan. i really don tlike her, he keeps calling him freak... so rude.

  • @hightideflyhigh totally agreed! she acts like she is better than sherlock, she's probably jealous of all his attention.

  • team baker street! woot woot!

  • Loved it when Sherlock said "shout up anderson, you lower the iq of the whole street!" o right. Srew Anderson & Donovan, they're just jealous ^^

  • I love Benedict, and his voice is so deep and sexy. ♥

  • Anderson is such a douche

  • I love this man. His voice is porn.

  • @Clueless89 It's better than porn.

  • @RazorBladek2 So true. Soooo true.

  • @Clueless89 Not only his voice...... But you are right, for a relatively young man he got a deep timbre. Ah, this cutie is really something special. (I didn't his original voice until today....)

  • HE. PURRS.

  • Really Anderson, do shut up. You lower the iq of the entire street!

(See what I did there? I took a quote, changed it slightly and put it on an appropriate video. Clever, eh?)

  • It would be cliched but I'm tempted to say "3 people didn't do their research."

  • A person asked me how I knew something. I simply responded: I'm a psychic. Likewise, she said: No, you're a psychopath, to which I answered: 'I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high functioning sociopath. Do your research.' She then simply said her response by staring at me in the most peculiar way.

  • Honestly Anderson do shut up and go cry your tears with Donovan

  • anderson needs to do his research...

  • is it just me, or after watching reichenbach I'm kinda scared now to watch all of the other episodes for fear of crying my eyes out? yes, i know he lives but just UGH. THAT. FREAKING. EPISODE WAS UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY FANTASTIC. I LOVE ANDREW, BEN AND MARTIN WITH ALL OF MY HEART NOW. THEY DESERVE ALL OF THE AWARDS.

  • @ScienceOfDeduction1 my thoughts exactly.

  • Also, I have AS as well.

  • This is what I want to say to all of my goddamn classmates.

  • Yeah, Anderson. You moron.

  • I think he has Asperger's Syndrome, a very mild form of autism. The fact that he's so obsessive, that he has issues with knowing when people are upset, all point to this. I think he uses the sociopath thing as a cover up because its better to be scary than weird. If you compare him to Temperance Brennan or Zach on "Bones" you'll see a lot of the same behaviors, and the creators of that show have both remarked that the characters are Aspies.

  • @AlienEeeter I'm an AS girl myself and wish I'd thought of the sociopath cover. I of course, ended up with 'weird', often walking around in state of mild shock, suspicious that I was from a different planet. Sherlock is gutsy and takes his own flaws mostly in stride and always with style. Despite them, someone to actually aspire to. Gorgeous, yes - but brilliant and confident. No matter what other people say, he is wonderfully true to himself. Thanks for a brilliant portrayal, Ben!!

  • @AlienEeeter They kinda dropped the hint at that in HoB John said it to Lestrade

  • This show needs more Anderson!!

  • My feelings are confused by hearing Sherlock's attractive and Anderson's irritating voice in the same short video clip.

  • Best line ever. Next time someone insults me say they say, "You're an idiot." then I'll say: "I'm not an idiot, i'm a highly functioning sociopath. Do your research."

  • @SuperLucario211 You get called an idiot a lot then?

  • @5olaris ...yes. I'm that creepy person at work/school that everyone thinks is weird and an idiot(look up "Sherlock- That Creepy Guy at Work")

  • Has Anderson been in season 2 at all? o:

  • @xGummiBearsx nope, but there is still 1 more episode but i dont think that he'll show xx

  • This line makes me think of Sherlock every time I hear Andrew Bird's "Oh No."

  • Im masturbating with his voice and i am a straight guy.

  • Love his face when he says "do your research". :)

  • i love Anderson's voice

  • @blackdiamond

LOL I thought I was the only one. I'd pick Cumberbatch's if given a choice, but there's something about the way Anderson speaks that makes me wanna listen to him all day. He sounds a lot like Snape in the Potter Puppet Palls parody show XD

  • I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested. lol

  • Owned.

  • I know I'm not an expert on this or anything, but I've really never believed Sherlock was a sociopath. It annoys me when people call him that. I just thought he was mocking Anderson. Or maybe Sherlock believes he is a sociopath, which is too bad.

  • @CynthCC1

Sherlock has sociopathic tendencies, like his inability to sympathize with other people's feelings (i.e. the way he treats Molly; he's not being mean, he just doesn't understand the concept of delicacy). I think "high-functioning sociopath" fits him well.

  • @EnigmaDrath I know he may seem like a sociopath at times, but I thought an important part of being a sociopath was lacking sympathy/empathy and being unable to truly care for others. That's not the case with Sherlock (especially if you've watched the new season). You can see how much he cares about John and Mrs. Hudson. He even apologized to Molly in one scene because he felt guilty for hurting her.

  • @CynthCC1 take it from someone who knows! a sociopath can feel empathy. is it hard and almost impossible? yes it takes a very special person to make me feel anything. I can feel things but is much harder for me than it is for you. people often tell me that I'm charming but its mostly an act, there's very few ppl that I actually like, most just annoy me! I admire one of my friends, she's very muck like john, the human part of me.i thought she was weak and pathetic at first but now i don't!

  • A boyfriend might get you to feel a whole range of emotions. Also, be good to your g-bff.

  • Anderson, Lestrad and Moriarty dislike this video...

  • His voice! Awesome ** beautiful actor...his eyes...i think it's love!

  • Someone needs to putthis on a tshirt

  • @RiverPond00 i would buy it (as long as it have benedicts face on it too lol)

  • This needs to be a bumper sticker

  • He has such a deep voice.

It's like a foghorn and a tuba had a really sexy child

  • @SheepAteMyFanBoys That's got to be one of the best similes I've ever read. *high five from the creative writing person*

  • @SheepAteMyFanBoys No. It's like a leopard in a cello.

  • @SheepAteMyFanBoys or a Jaguar playing the cello?

  • @SheepAteMyFanBoys Oh my god, I literally laughed out loud at that. But you're right, he has such a deep and sexy voice. I can't get enough of it; I find it so very attractive. ;)

  • i wonder if there will be more funny moment between him and anderson in the new series?

  • Sounds soooo hot :P

  • I recite this scene for my friends at school with a proper British accent (I'm American, regrettably) and they think I'm obsessed. I am *.* lmao

  • @sunnycab5 I DO THIS TOO!! Fortunately my friends all watch the show and are similarly obsessed, so they just praise my inflection. :)

  • I wrote that line on the front of my physics lab book :)

  • he sounds robotic O_o

  • I love the way he says research. <3

  • @hellgirl013 keep pressing 9 then :) gotta love him

  • @darkroge YES <3

  • If Sherlock Holmes says he's a high-functioning sociopath, he's a high-functioning sociopath.

  • @flewPpp no, if arthur connon doyle said that SH was a high-functioning sociopath, SH is a high-functioning sociopath

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag When Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was alive they didn't have high-functioning sociopaths. They had bedlamites.

  • @AuditoryEden that is besides my point. besides insanity is not the same as sociopath-ism

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag Nowadays we know that that's true, but back then they didn't, the point being that Doyle couldn't have labeled Sherlock Holmes with a disorder that didn't exist yet. However, Dolye did choose to assign Holmes traits that indicate, in retrospect, that he is a high-functioning sociopath. Thus, your statement was arbitrary.

  • @AuditoryEden Actually it wasn't, as i was merely stating that nobody except the creator can define any aspect of SH's character with any certainty

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag Also adding to this; the sociopathic side of SH is emphasized/overstated a bit too much in this series

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag He is not a sociopath or a psychopath. There are two components of both disorders that are lacking in this character. He is more of a high functioning Aspie. If he was socio/pychopathic there would be an sexual component to his behavior and some type of torture of animals in his childhood then as an adult would present itself as some type of physical abuse of others.

  • @lesababy university degree in psychology or wikipedia ?

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag Actually BA Psych, BS BioPsychology, BA History, MA Counseling Psychology and 20 years post graduate experiences working with MR, MI, DD and SA populations. And you?

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag Plus my education has nothing to do with this. Gattis has said his take on the character is that he has autism, John Watson said to Lestrade that SH has Aspergers in the Hounds of Baskerville episode and Benedict Cumberbatch makes reference to it here.

  • @lesababy i was just asking as 90% does actually get it from wiki, besides, you're talking to the wrong person, as i actually do not disagree with you, i just think there isn't enough ground, not to mention it to be a bit stupid, to pin modern clinical terms on a fictional character created in the late 19th century

  • @flewPpp Damn straight.

  • @flewPpp Being a narcissict mixed up with a sciopath MYSELF, I would say that he is either a very unsociable sociopath (it CAN happen on occasions), or that he is part Aspie, part sociopath. He is not a clear sociopath, but not a clear Aspie, too.

  • @Calucifer13 He has high functioning AS. John says so in the Baskerville episode to Lestrade. He's not a psycho/sociopath. He does not have all of the characteristics of a psycho/sociopath.

  • Psychopathy was coined in 1847 and it was originally in German. Sociopath was coined in 1930. G.E. Partridge wanted to change the term used from Psychopath to Sociopath because he felt it represented the "ailment" better.

I've also read that some doctors use sociopath to describe a patient who "became" that way, whereas psychopaths are born that way.

To be completely honest I don't think there's a universally accepted difference between the two. :P

  • @TheCanoness The currently accepted description is that psychopaths are born with a neurological disorder. They are according to the soon to be out DSM-V suffering from Anti-social/Psychopathic Type Personality Disorder. Sociopaths on the other hand tend to develop ASPD over time after age 18 and usually preceded by a adolescent conduct disorder. Moriarty is a classic case of ASPD/Psychotic Type in that he has no empathy at all and is highly prone to violence.Sherlock is most likely Asperger's.

  • @ascariot300 Thank you. But you and TheCanoness are both right. There is little difference between the two terms and people use them interchangeably. Hopefully with the DSM-V there will be a clear distinction between the two but that is the purpose of the new "bible" to clarify terms and to add new research.

  • this is one of the quotes my friends who like the show and i say as we pass each other in the halls...talk about obsessed XD

  • the two dislikes are Sgt. Donovan and Anderson

  • 2 people need a re-search...

  • .. Right now i hate having andersson as surname..

  • I honestly think he looks cuter with curly hair than with straight or otherwise. It's just something i noticed from the other films he's been in.

  • Anderson - you just got pwned xD

  • my fav line!

  • best 11 seconds of my life

  • Omg yes XD

  • i want moriarty to shoot anderson

  • Yeah. Pfft... Anderson.

  • One of the best one liners in the series. Anderson 0, Sherlock 1(00). :p

  • I would kill myself if I was Anderson after that! :D Sherlock is AWESOME!

  • And all this time I thought he had Asperger's....

  • @Brenanaification He probably does have Aspergers and was just saying that to annoy Anderson.

  • is the next season will have only 3 episode or will be longer this time ?

  • @EnvyChann 3 Episodes again :) I hope they'll make more seasons! I luv it so much <3 and the cast is hilarious and cute :'D Oh my... I'm so one hell of a fangirl I would do anything to get a machine which you can "travel" into TV-Shows-Universe(s) xDDD

  • @Izaya4EVER OMG I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE DREAM OF THIS MACHINE ! I'm not sure yet if I'm a fangirl or just a huge fan .. I love the cast, for the exact a same reason as you. And how they "modernised" this thing it's just .. INSANE. I'm a freak of SH and was very not sure to like this but, it suprised me like nothing did in my life ! If they continue like this, I think that they'll be more season in the future :) (well .. I really hope so ^^)

  • @EnvyChann HA! :D we totally should invest into that machine!!^^ and the rest: same here, though I wasn't used to be a huge fan of "the original" SH... I mean I've enjoyed every movie about him, but this show (in fact I love BBC-Shows) is just so amazing and kind of distinct :) but of course it wouldn't be the same if they were not Holmes and Watson xD

  • He so smexy XD

  • miss you Sherlock !! waiting till 2012...sooooo long so long so long :(

  • his voice is yummy, he'd make a good father

  • Wrote this quote down and use it as a bookmark for my Sherlock Holmes collection. Win.

  • Not entirely true. Psychopathy and sociopathy are often used synonymously, but they aren't really the same thing. Psychopaths can't feel empathy towards anyone at all and don't see others as fully human. Sociopaths find it difficult to make emotional connections to others, but it's not impossible. Sherlock is a sociopath; he really does care about John, but not many other people. Moriarty is a psychopath. For proof, watch the end of "The Great Game."

  • @sisaltwostep That.. was amazing.

  • @sisaltwostep Not entirely true. Both are broad terms and there is little distinction between them. For all intents and purposes they are the same. Finding it difficult to make emotional connections is not at all a characteristic of a sociopath. This scene isn't technically accurate. Some superficial distinctions are sometimes made but they are not relevant, but it is not true that sociopaths only find it difficult to form connections. If that was the case, most people would be sociopaths.

  • @sisaltwostep Your *comment* isn't entirely true. 'Sociopath' and 'psychopath' are the SAME thing, only different areas of medical and psychological research and different countries used different terms. Also, if anything, Holmes is a high functioning Asperger's.

  • @sisaltwostep

    Well put! :D

  • @sisaltwostep and he's certainly high-functioning, too

  • @sisaltwostep Moriarty is a psycopath =)

  • @sisaltwostep I've heard this from others, and i strongly disagree. At least in the tv-series he does care about others, he just thinks it a waste of time to get emotional about it. The Great Game is full of these moments. Most telling, he says "Poeple have died." to Moriarty, implying significance.

It's like he says, "Caring won't solve the case." He does care, just not in an obvious way, because he sees no point in that. He can't help can't help it when it comes to John, though.

  • I love the way he just looks straight back at him then back to Lestrade as if nothing happened

  • @BowtieFezGeronimo

Fan of cheekbones I see? Me too. :)

  • @mushroomshrub

Yes, how can you not be? Especially when some of the sexiest men in television history has them ;)

  • I want to have a sex with his voice..

  • @STAR141100 It's just a grumble of sexiness!

  • @STAR141100 I just want to have sex with him...

  • @STAR141100 Don't we all?

  • @STAR141100 The mouth is close enough ;)

  • I just love that Anderson took 7 seconds to say the same amount of words as Sherlock did in 4 seconds. :D

  • @fissim3311 You counted?

  • Lol! Do your research..

  • 1 person didn't do their research.

  • Well,um...

At least he admits he has a problem? .____.

But seriosly though, BEST LINE EVER!

  • @BubbleT1ger

Yeah, sort of. His statement is an admission of A problem, whether it happens to be HIS problem... :P

That aside, psychiatrists don't diagnose people as psycho- or sociopaths any more because they now fall under the classification of dissociative personality disorders. Like @mQtek said, Sherlock probably uses it to excuse his blatant disregard for social protocol and lack of common courtesy. Other than that, I think it's far more likely that he has some degree of Aspergers.

  • I.... *dead*

  • If you`re used to Drunk Sherlock No 2 and the slow-motioned " Nevaa miind thaat, weee foooouuuund the CAAAAAAASEEEEE...." you`re getting dizzy at the high speeded original: " NevamindthatwefoundtheCASE!accordingtoSOMEONE...."

  • A delicious clashing of opinion.

  • OWND

  • Several exceptionally gifted finds easier to let the others believe that they are sociopathes. Because themselves cannot always find the words to explain their vision. I think it’s the case of sherlock too. Do your research Cumberbatch. If he was a sociopathe, I could see him engage someone to surprise him with a new murder everytime he gets bored for too long! But no, he works for justice.

  • @MegaAlexiiiii

Don't forget it's Moffat who wrote the script...

  • ''I'm not a psychopath Anderson,I'm a high functioning sociopath. Do your research" i LOVE HIM! so hilarious and witty, genius. and he's a sociopath to boot. CUMBERBITCH FOREVER!

  • ...And Sherlock wins the award for comeback of the year!

  • When both Sally and Anderson called him a psychopath, I felt like losing hope in this world, that one would mistake psychopath with sociopath is comical. Watching the first episode with my friend, whenever they said psychopath we'd just sigh.

  • He's not a sociopath, he's just Obsessive-compulsive, and hyper-intellectual. He uses the word sociopath as an excuse for being rude.
