warning to anyone buying an evo - I got one a year ago this August, and the battery in these is apparently notorious for going bad. One day last week, my phone just wouldn't power on. Wouldn't register to charge or anything at all. Took it to the Sprint store. They took the battery out and spun it on the table then informed me my battery had started to "balloon" and that the evo batteries do that in abt a year. got a new battery free of charge though!
Yes both are dated but with Android its always like that. Its dated as soon as its released. But I got my Incredible 1 brand new for free 4 months ago and love it! I dont care for front facing camera. People are still rockin and holding on to their old iphones 3g/s and Nexus Ones. Its all about preference. I just sold an Old sprint HTC Hero for $80 last month and they love it. If you like your phone, Keep it! :P
I prefer my Incredible. Its been proven to be a tad faster on some tests. I dont care for a front facing camera and I love the optical trackpad. Its light and has the perfect size IMO. However, you extra features, 4G and bigger screen (though heavier phone) go with the Evo. But Verizon 3G is plenty fast I've noticed.
I understand that everyone who attended the Google I/O event recieved an HTC Evo 4G. But I was wondering how you got into the event. Did you get an invitation?
@ogriv1985 Average use overall - I'm a light user when it comes to talking and texting and the web, but I'm a heavy user when it comes to Twitter, email, music and photography.
My primary phone is a Nexus One and I'm seeing almost identical battery life - about 2 days with my use split about evenly between the 2 devices.
Wow man, where do you get all these phones? I'm 14 and im getting a white iphone 3gs tomorrow, but I dont know whether to wait for the ipone 4g. I would really like an iphone asap!!!
@fearmeyo I have a pretty successful blog (see my profile) so the manufacturers and carriers send me phones to review - I only get to keep them for a few weeks. I'm also a developer so every now and then I get a phone for free when attending a conference (like the EVO 4G). I also buy phones sometimes (like my Nexus One or my iPhone).
Lord... I pre-ordered mine a few days ago, but the waiting game is driving me NUTS. I just can't wait until June 4th. Fuckers will be lucky if I even show up to work. lol
HTC incredible and HTC Evo FTW. I own both devices I was lucky enuff to be there at Google . But yeah I prefer the incredible more just becuase its smaller but that's just me. There both beasts though. I use my incredible for business purposes and the Evo for entertainment like movies all that good stuff. You can't go wrong on neither of these devices
I didn't see anything about the battery in the blog post (unless it's in the video, which I have not yet watched). However, the Incredible has a 1300mAh battery whereas the Evo has a 1500mAh battery.
@benkalziqi There's a link in my blog post to my unboxing pictures on Flickr (or just click on that one picture in my blog post to take you to the set on Flickr). One of the pictures on Flickr shows the 2 batteries (and the 2 phones)...
@benkalziqi Both batteries are red, and are the exact same width and height with the contacts located in the same place. The EVO's is thicker (1500 mAh) than the Incredible's (1300 mAh) but they are interchangeable.
The Nexus One battery is completely different, but you are right, the Hero (US version) battery is identical (other than the color)!
@IKILLEDUSUCKA10 You get an 8 GB micro-SD card (already installed in the phone). The additional 2 GB micro-SD card is Google I/O gift (I don't think it's going to be included with the retail version).
The battery bubbles when you talk n charge ya phone at the same time also and when you leave it on charge along time after its done
