This (like most of his lyrics) can be interpreted however you want to. You could take it literally that its really talking about an apocalyptic future vision, you could take it metaphorically as either something imposing or as a poetic license for someone unsure of themselves, or you could just say it's a bunch of rambling.

It's really up to the listener what they take away from C93 songs.

I imagine BLACK SHIPS to be craft of some kind you know? Maybe this is the aapparent & its probably got a deeper or another meaning all together...but i have seen black ships in the sky (triangels & other shapes)..maybe they have not so benevolant intentions....(as some might some also do not)... being witnessed since humans have existed...they are the Watchers or (so many variations/different ones) so who knows? i bought the album and apparently the Black Ships are....

its hard to say what they are.. but David Tibet mentions in this booklet that came with the album, that he had this dream where these ships came from somewhere to announce the second coming of christ and the second Caesar. Pretty good album :D
