  • This is the park place T-bolt. I've seen it before

  • Hamilton county is going to replace these with t-128's. I am going to try and get this siren

  • Reminds me of silent hill

  • cool i rcored that too =D

  • looks like Pripyat, Ukraine

  • That thunderbolt sounds like a 2001. I also think I heard a thunderbolt 1000T in the background.

  • @Thunderbolt1000Tfan correct! They are only a few city blocks away from each other. The other one you heard is a 4/5 port 1000T set on chopper level 3 (I believe).

  • When these go off I freak out and get butterflies in my storm ache I like am going to cry these are scary in real life

  • @MrBrandon411 try standing less than 50 feet from one (my mistake). even with earplugs it is still extremely loud.

  • @truemetalist89 yeah I feel bad for u

  • EPIC! I recorded that same one from a bride just havent put it on youtube yet.

  • its a thuderbolt

  • 0:17 Commands your attention and respect.

  • sounds like the end is near when those sirens r blaring at full blast!

  • Sounds like an airaid siren

  • @SuperVillaTube the t-bolt was an air raid siren back in the 50's-60's.

  • Wow

  • scary stuff. hey did you know in 1996 there was a f4 that struck right outside of downtown. wierd. you never hear of a tornado in a big city. imagine a f5 hitting the crew tower

  • i used to hear this when i used to live in cincinnati ten years ago. brings back childhood memories

  • 10RPM's

  • That sucker winds quick!! I've never seen one wind that fast before. Looks like it would snap off of its pole!

  • this is why i love my city

  • The way that 1000 is doing attack is very irregular!

  • to me it looks like 10RPM'S

  • DUDE! that looks like a scene off of silent hill.

  • I'll never forget the day when my family and I had JUST moved into Dayton, and the sirens went off in the county next to us because of high winds...then a tornado touched down.

  • is that a thunderbolt?

  • sounds creepy

  • so that's the Mt. Airy 1000?

  • no, this is in downtown cincinnati. the mt airy 1000 is on top of a water tower that resembles a castle, while this one is on top of park place at lytle, which is a building with condominiumns.

  • i live down the street from the mt airy one

  • How much RPM's is it rotating? :S

  • 8RPM's

  • i love it. the sounds of these things...fascinates me....

  • yea that is the 1000 you hear u can hear the modulator and 2001's before the start of the thunderbolts

  • no, seriously, that IS the 1000 sounding. It sounds just like a 2001. But faintly in the distance across the river, you can hear 2001's going off in Kenton Co. in the beginning of the clip and at the end.

  • no, that IS the tbolt you hear. the 4/5 port 1000T you hear is another tbolt 2 blocks behind me.

  • It spotted you at 1:01 :P

  • Gotta love that sound!

  • This is the Park Place at Lytle Thunderbolt. Great tone!! ^-^

  • I miss hearing this! I lived only 1 block away from the siren at the Westwood Kroger several years ago. I loved test days!! Now I am in HIghland County. Our sirens are loud, but boring.

  • what does Highland Co. have?

  • IDK.

  • I'm not sure. How could I find out? I would like to know just to satisfy my curiosity. They are just one tone, rather high pitched. They are pretty big looking and they look like a megaphone. They are loud, but so boring. So monotone.......lol!

  • @BellyJae Federal Signal 2001 I think. I'm sorry it took me so long to see your question.

  • yeah derailments suck

  • watch that thunderbolt 1000 spin wow that spins fast

  • This one FAILED to activate. ARGGH! >:(

  • Of course, they were never tested a few weeks ago, due to train cars carrying propayne derailing.

  • that thunderbolt sounds to remarkable like a 2001.

  • Buginafug, youre retarded

  • The Thunderbolt 1000 shown sounds like it wants to be cuddled :P

  • Comment removed

  • the high pitched one sounds like a 2001

  • its a thunderbolt set on level 7

  • Also has a 6 port rotor instead of your typical 5 port rotor found in most Thunderbolt 1000s

  • True. It also could be set on the highest chopper level.

  • Yep, probably is!

  • Do you know what this thunderbolt 1000's chopper level setting is?

  • If I had to guess, I'd say you're right in thinking it's on the highest chopper tap, which would be 7.

  • wow that is crazy

  • WOW! That single toned Thunderbolt is high pitched! Definatley level 7!

  • Is that terminal 7 on the 1000 cause it sure sounds that way!

  • :P my uncle lives in Ohio, close to Cincnnati

and i never heard the sirens before

  • huh that sounds like a federal signal 2001.

  • That's a scary sound! Good video. 5/5

  • Im in cincinnati one just came on here and it sounded just like this one lol It just went off i was wondering if anyone else heard it

  • tee hee! Today was test day.

  • It sounds like a racetrack lol

  • wow thats creepy. id probably crap my pants if i ever heard something like that going off in the middle of the day.

  • i had a chance to hear something like this every once in a day during the yugoslavia bombings of 1999

  • such an erie sound

  • shit that t-bolt rotates very fast

  • Is that 8rpm's?

  • Yep, sure is! That particular 1000 sure seems to have a healthy rotator motor given that even that's a little fast for 8rpm.

  • Is this 1000 on a building next to or near Great American Ball Park?

  • yism :)

  • So that must mean the 1000T is on a building somewhere on 5th St. I could see a thunderbolt from Fountain Square as I look down 5th.

  • the 1000T is on top of the government building in government square. that particular one is not visible from the street. The 1000 is visible from fountain square. I found the 1000T when i was atop carew tower :)

  • So the 1000T is on the Federal Building?

  • What building is the single tone 1000 on top of? What about the dual tone 1000T?

  • this thing sounds almost horrifically musical, especially on the rises and wind downs.

  • wow that sound is freaking awesome! i used to work at cincinnati children's hospital downtown, we would go to the top of the parking garage on testing days to hear the sirens go off... god that noise is so creepy but i could listen to it 1,000 times!!! now i live in california so luckily no more tornadoes... but i don't get to hear sirens every month anymore :( :( :(

  • nutmeg220,

I agree! When I lived in Cincy, I made a point to be outside where I could hear these things! I love 'em!

  • Now you just have to deal with earthquakes, wildfires.

  • LOL... I remember when I had first started working in downtown Cincinnati years ago..and the first time I heard these, I almost shit myself. The buildings make this freakish echo, and that low gutteral sound is spooky and terrifying...after a few months you get used to it though.

  • Damn that sounds pretty mean. I agree with the user that stated it sounded like the space shuttle at first.

  • It sounds like a space ship taking off! Hehe! I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and our sirens haven't been tested in years. But I think they are Thunderbolts from the 1950's.

  • without question this is the scariest tornado siren i've ever heard.

  • haha its worse when you got one on top of a police station no closer than 390 yards from your house. lucky for me it isnt a thunderbolt like this one.

  • the beginning siren sounds like music. the other one mixing in combined with the high pitched siren sounds like music. I really do hate thunderbolts however I can deal with this one lol.

  • Just to the right of that thunderbolt on that building looks like the profile of another t-bbolt pointing away (to the right) of the frame. Is that another 'bolt or is it just my eyes (or the camera) playing tricks on me? After 9 months I just now noticed that.

  • ive never been downtown with them going off yet

  • fuzzi,

It is awesome! Goosebumps and makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck!

  • I loved the Cincy sirens! I've moved to the country now, but got caught at Westwood Kroger back in 1987 in a NASTY storm, the siren is right outside the store and when it went off, the lady in front of me at the check-out FAINTED!! Poor thing!!

  • TerrTerr, This is very creepy. This would drive me crazy. I'd be a nervous wreck. That poor lady in the line in front of you. Wow, this is interesting though. THANK YOU VERY MUCH TERR...xo

  • I love this!

  • To the Author: Can you do a video of the "background" dual toned 1000T? That would be neat. BTW Creepy 8RPM on the single tone 1000!.

  • I'm trying, can't make any promises.

I'ved worked the last couple of times they tested the sirens. The 1000t is not visible from the street, so I'm going to tape it nad others from the top of Carew Tower.

  • Ok, that would be cool to! Thanks for the quick response! :)

  • Hope to see that one soon!!

  • well its the all calear on tornado warnings where i am

  • that lower one mixed in with the screaming one (screaming is what im used to) is weird. is that an older version of something. i think they're testing the all clear, right?

  • no, its just another thunderbolt. The chopper settings in these sirens are adjustable so you can make the pitch as low or as high as you want. Lower, deeper tones travel farther than higher pitched tones.

This portion of the testing is called Attack.

  • i heard that sound once where i live i like wtf O SHIT TORNADO!

  • thats what we get down here in cincinnati, i live here and one time, i was about to fall asleep at around 2 a.m. and then bam! those sirens scared the crap out of me but im used to it since ive been living here for 10 years

  • i be gone if i herd that

  • these sirens are cool the sound, the hum!!It relaxes me

  • poop

  • god this osund scares the shit out of me...if i heard that id be fuckin GONE

  • Could you do one of the 1000T in the background?

  • They have this attention signal were i live in case theres a bomb threat

  • the whole us will be lick that when the nuclear halocaust happens

  • Don't worry.

It isn't likely; the last time we ever had to really worry was back in '62, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

  • not true....many instances the general public isn't terribly knowledgeable about. False readings on Missile incoming. Other instances. 1983 had a close call

  • I liie Mods, EOWS, and Siratones

  • wat is the difference between siratone and EOWS?

  • There isn't, they are the same thing

  • i live a couple blocks from there

  • Are there 2001's in downtown cincinnati cause they sure sound them

  • No 2001's in downtown Cincy, but right across the river in Newport they have 2001's and Modulators.

  • i love modulators

  • Do you think that you could record a video of a Mod test?

  • thunderbolts 1000 are so loud and scary. if I heard this siren my ears would be ringing for hours or days afterwards. cool video. fasted rotation I ever saw.

  • 8 RPM Thunderbolt: The new innovation in space travel.

  • The siren could fly if it wasn't nailed down.

  • the rotation is amazing!!

  • Add a few more of those T-Bolts at the same RPM and it probably will.

  • The 1000 shown seems very overpowered while the 1000t in the backround sounds underpowered (But almost all 1000ts sound like that)

  • I like the simultaneous startup of the sirens-pretty cool.

  • boy that siren from the looks of it is really moving around!

  • I think we have the t bolt sirens where i live which is Tennessee. not in the city where i live but about 30 min away. i would like to have to have some in my city though . I've only heard it about 1 or 2 times ={ forgot to say earlier i do have a t bolt about 15 min away and was thinking about recording it and putting it on here so watch my name.

  • I live in Cincinnati right across the street from an 1000T The first Wednesday of every month, and every other Wednesday during tornado season, it gets real creepy at 12 noon when they run thru their air raid and severe weather tests.

  • They test 'em every 1st Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM in Minnesota.

  • wow freakin awesome. so when u goin to film that one on the tower

  • Thats a great sounding T-bolt.

  • I live in a suburb of Chicago and we used to have one of these 10 years ago planted on top of our firehouse. Ahhhh how I miss the sound.

  • Federal3t22 is right, the 1000T in the background sounds creepy and eerie.

  • when that siren gose off the rest go off too awsome!

  • That is the highest toned 1000 I've ever heard. Sounds like a 2001 (I know it's not). That 1000T in the background was awesome and spooky sounding. I may have to install my 2Ts chopper in my 1000 now :-D

  • Holey crap!!! I`v never seen a thunder bolt rotate that fast.

  • Holy, the is so freaking fast! Sounds great.

  • Wow! That Thunderbolt's on steroids!

Only seen another that's on the 8RPM setting!

    Cool video!

  • you telling me that thunder bolt spins rapidly i've never seen i siren spin that fast

  • It can, depending on what Emergency Management see's fit.

You can get 2RPM (Default), 4RPM and 8RPM.

  • LOL!

It may look far from the camera's point of view, but I was not far from it at all!

  • From what I can make out from it, it looks like that siren rotates super fast! Thanks for sharing!

  • Very powerful from a long distance!
