  • no stars in the backdrop?

  • I Like this

  • It's 2012. Can we get some color photographs of the moon already??

  • @younesbal Exactly what color do we think the moon is? It's a big barren rock up against a black sky.

  • Anyone else notice the Mincecraft creeper frown on the right side?

  • People, the title clearly says one year of the Moon, not that of the Earth. The Earth goes around the Sun in approx. 365 Earth-days, the Moon goes around the Earth in approx. 30 Earth-days.

  • shit

  • WHat no Ufo's Your video sucks !

Just kidding actually pretty cool dead rock.

  • I find the little face in the dark, when the moon is waning, in the right side of it, kinda scary.

  • Excellent!

  • woooow!

  • IT SAYS ANIMATION PEOPLE. This video is toooooo misleading in my opinion

  • why does the moon seem to get closer and further every month?

  • @juanarruti Im not 100% sure on this, but with the exception of man made satellites, almost all objects in space orbit in an elliptical path. This includes comets, asteriods, meteors, moons, planets, and even stars. Its because gravity between these objects interact with eachother, and throw off the potential for a perfect circular path.

  • ON THE MOOON!

  • BS The rate ate which the shadow moves across the moon is to fast if this was pictures strung together of photos taken every hour. Shame on me if you fool me twice.

  • can i make this my screen saver?

  • stop motion?

  • So thats where Micheal Jackson got his idea for his moon dance.

  • is this the real moon or some sort of a 3D design?

  • @EuRoViSi0n2010 It is actually the moon. I cant tell because you can only see one side of the moon. (we can never see the far side of the moon so there is never really a dark side...

So this was probably for a month and then copied and pasted,

  • 12 people can't see the moon at night

  • I love the action in the middle but it was the ending that made me realize what a beautifull movie this really is!!! M o o n that spells moon :)

  • One word. Wow

  • Why does Tycho appear on the right side of the moon now?

  • fucking hypnotic

  • It truly is beautiful :-) ♥

  • @rmalone76 tehe

  • Spoiler Alert: The moon does not turn around and start singing.

  • enjoy the silence :D

  • Looks like a golf ball

  • omg moon is sooo pretty

  • Theres said that theres a giant ...... Big ........ Penis up there

  • to the moon alice

  • The moon looks like Jackie Gleason

  • And where are the god damn Alliens?!!now i am confused! :p

  • A big load of sheep shit

  • ...great....

  • This is true , did you know 27 days on the moon is about a year on earth ?

  • super..........

  • @codzombies....great, your catching up lol.

  • Why on EARTH would someone dislike this video?

  • @universalstudios13 OH now i get it

  • @universalstudios13 The answer is out of this world!

  • How was this made ???

  • u forgot the eclipes

  • Why can't it spin properly, is it a retard?

  • @Mistafixa101 yes......yes it is

  • @Mistafixa101 The video shows how the moon look from earth, we never see the other side of the moon, that's why it never 'spin properly'.

  • KOOOL!!

  • you can see many photos of our moons far side. google moon far side

  • 9 Saiyajins dislike this video #oozaru #dragonball

  • so them moon doesn't rotate at all? And one side is never seen from earth?

  • @MattBlytheTheOne it does rotate, but we always see the same side because it is locked to the earth with gravity. It takes around 27.5 days for the moon to rotate once, the same amount of time it takes to orbit the Earth. This is not a coincidence: the moon is actually shaped like a football and most of its weight is on the earth side so gravity pulls more on the heavy side keeping it facing earth.

  • awesome

  • Dear NASA: Thanks for making this video. Now I can tell the crescent moon from the waning moon without looking at a calendar (note for self: the moon's illumination rotates right to left).

  • where is hd ffs

  • moon is a big ufo

  • a bad simulation

  • Amazing... but the year aint over yet. :)

  • I'm a little bit disappointed it didn't explode, after all that. Why on Earth would NASA make it wobble, without a big explosion at the end? Doesn't the DOE have some massive laser facility now, that they could point at the moon and show the NASA boys how it's done?

  • @chuckarama451 I think you have not understood the meaning of the video. It shows the natural movements of the moon relative to Moon and Earth orbits. Differences in moon size and wobbling are visible in such time-lapse videos only.

BTW The moon has laser facilities, left by the Apollo missions, and they are used for determining the distance, with centimeter precision. Making the moon explode via laser shot - that's a crazy idea, already abandoned for much closer targets.

  • @PC01011 Heh. Indeed. I think you have misunderstood my sarcasm and sense of humor a bit. It probably just wasn't that funny to begin with... It is indeed a VERY impressive sequence.

  • It also moves forward and backwards... compare the size of the moon to the edge of the screen. =]

    Awesome video!

  • lol I just found my new screensaver!

  • 2011 is not yet over, how can you get future pics of our satellite ?

  • A tiny bit repetitive.

  • Where are the eclipses of 2011 in this animation? In 2011 there are three solar and two lunar eclipses. SInce the animation contains hourly images, and since each eclipse lasts several hours, there's no way to "escape" the eclipses if you want the animation to be realistic.

  • @pausch4711 read the description : hourly image...

  • I wonder if we could see Princess Luna if this were HD...

  • Unfortunately, we will for now, never know whats on the other side. Without going deep into a conspiracy speculation. Grainy and Edited pictures are excepted.. however.

  • One day we'll look back on videos like this and say "Wow, it was so dark back then, it looks weird without the lights all over it."

    Maybe.

  • @meeware - how long you plan to live ?! :)) rad video, btw

  • Obviously its not all of 2011 as its only June...lol. Very cool to see the moon like this over time for a full year..what month did it start and what month did it stop (obviously sometime between Jan - June 2011)

Was this from the observatory in Maui, as its obviously above the cloud layer?

  • @lamapper Its an animation, so its showing the full year =]

  • la luna nunca en la historia mostro el otro lado de la cara, siempre se ve la misma

  • Awesome!!

  • Quiero un fondo animado para mi cel de esto xD

  • Quiero un fondo animado para mi cel de esto xD

  • U MNIE CHMURY KURWA

  • I didn`t know, that the moon is dancing like that.

  • @TheLmpo Are you stupid?

  • The moon was here before we ever came about, and it will still be here long after we are all gone...

  • "mysterious as the dark side of THE MOOOOOOONNNN !!!!!"

  • thumbs up if u skipped to the end of the vid hoping for something to happen

  • the 'dark' side of the moon is a misnomer. half the moon is always facing the sun. when we see the 'new' moon from the earth (i.e. the side facing us is dark) then the 'dark' side of the moon is actually fully lit.

  • The moon doesnt show your rotation :P

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    I didn´t know that

so we always see the same side.

    ---- se mueve como lavadora :P -------

  • @RafiaLunedi Yeah, they call the other side "the dark side of the moon"... I think it's pretty damn cold on that side....

  • @OregonDARRYL The "dark side" of the moon isn't really dark ALL of the time because the moon orbits around the Earth and the side facing away from us does get the same amount of sunlight as the side that faces us. It can be as cold as -153C during the lunar night, or as hot as 107C during the lunar day.

  • @Otterwearinggloves Yes, you are right... it's just "dark" to us on Earth, because we never get to see it... thanks.

  • vous savez quoi ?! ..c'est un petit plaisantin qui vient de mettre en ligne l'IRM de ma couille droite !!! grrrrr !!

  • shame there no music .....

  • What the fuck? what am i watching..

  • The question is , what's on the other side ? Knowing that we always se the same one ...

  • @najnouj59 Transformers. Michael Bay told us that. Sheesh...

  • Patrzcie co dzisiaj wygrzebalem. Ma koles odwage ;)

    kwejk.pl/obrazek/158193

  • What the name of this song ? ....

  • if you missed the eclipse then here it is: "watch?v=p7M_LWcs1wc"

  • SPaaAAAaaaaCE!!!

  • I'm in space.

  • I've been in love with the moon for many years. Gazing at it immediately connects me with all those who have lived or are presently living on earth.

  • One Years of the Moon in 2.47 Minutes

  • Please show the other side too. We want to see the nazi moon base.

  • This would make a really good screensaver...

  • YOWSERS!

  • moonrock is good for portals

  • I bet most of the views come from sites starting with the letter t

  • I posted a similar video v=9acGGZgEpyQ One Year of the Moon in .5 Minutes ... a weird anomaly in the Matrix (if we live inside the MATRIX)

  • how did he do this

  • And Earth is doing the same thing, wobbling like a top through space.

  • this is amazing

  • this o

  • Beautiful!

  • utterly superb

  • @RayWilliamJohnston gosh thats so unoriginal get a life gosh!

  • OMG that is so coool...

on my planet, we watch this blue moon in the sky

  • @budsa11 NasaExplorer posted it in HD.

  • What an amazing work!

  • Moons - how do they work?

  • @AlexIsACarrot You can't explain that!

  • would like this in 1080p :(

  • @jstubbles

    You can download it here:

  • Out of this world!

  • Terrifying.

  • My god, it wobbles all over the shop like some kind of orbital drunk!

  • @bofostudio isnt that us wobbling? (seasons?)

  • @bofostudio The moon is a slef-powered, orbital station, for your information, and thats the reason of his odd movement

    Thanks

  • @bofostudio The moon is a self-powered, orbital station, for your information, and thats the reason of his odd movement

    Thanks

  • @bofostudio

Orbital drunk? I don't think so. Drunkards are ugly, pathetic, useless creatures. The moon is beautiful, inspirational (think about the Moonlight Sonata, or the countries that display an image of the crescent moon on their national flags) and very useful to the mankind (moon gives us light at night, it gave us the calendar based on lunar cycles, and the moon protects earth by attracting asteroids that would otherwise hit us). I wish all drunkards would be as productive as the moon.

  • I wish i could see the video upside down, i kind of live in the other hemisphere :P

  • For the year 2011? Please update description, must be 2010?

  • @sikhswim This is a visualization from software. So it doesn't have to be in the past.

  • @sikhswim It's computer-generated. Astronomers know very reliably what the moon will look like this year.

  • I wonder what the other side looks like.

  • Transformers!

  • 12.25 new moons for 12 months or 365.25 days a year...seems about right :)

  • Wow.

  • 0:12 I was expecting to see Heroes written in bold letters haha

    Amazing, truly amazing =)

  • Tidal locking in motion : )
