  • im going to answer your question it moring at night it kind of scarey

  • Was the storm in the morning or at night ?

Would've been scary to be outside in it, like at Six Flags or something

  • it was morning time.. 11 am or so

  • lol i was at six flags i work there it was scary

  • A tip...most chasers don't go alone, and also, they have a camera mount on the dash, so they can swivel the camera about without having to hold it.

  • yeah I have a window mounting tripod now. One of my friends gave me one

  • hey when was the date i live in chesterfield in may of this year i was in the valley watching my lil bros baseball game and then the clouds got black and there was a funnel

  • This was great storm chasing work

  • I really need a better camera. I had an awesome as storm not long ago and I couldnt get a clear view through the windows.

You got some great bolts on yout trip.

  • I see Kirkwood my hometown!

  • OHhhhhhhhhh you live in CHesterfield MO

    I love there B F CHANGS

  • Awesome!

Was this the storm which caused thousands of power outages and also caused Ameron UE to be critisized? If so, I remember being on the road during this. The front looked so severe!

Then the next day seemed like the hottest, without power either.

  • unfotunatly this was not that front. I was actually in Mexico when that came through (although I would have loved to have seen it )

  • i live in st. louis county

  • Did you go to marqutte Highschool or Am I thinking of a diffrent Ben?

  • no i am going to go to burroughs next year. i am going into seventh grade

MIddle school is hard in that people criticize the moste minute diffrences among one another. Highschool and College are Really cool though ( except theres more work.....)

  • Thanks, Tonight between 1 and 2:45 Am SOme amazing T-storms came through west county. I ahve some amazing night - Lightning shots, Global illumination, plus possible some Anvil crawlwers (Not sure if my camera was pointed in the right spot or not, cant wait to check out the footage

  • nice.. i know what storm ur talkin about.. that canceled school

  • what the fuck

  • I've experienced those type of clouds. Let me tell yeah, that is a mean sky at 3:17 - that probably produced golf sized hail, terrential rain, very harsh lightning and loud thunder.

What time was this when the storm happened? And how much did the temperature drop within minutes? I live in Australia so it's pretty interesting to dub in on all this action in NA.

    - Matt

    Brisbane, AU

  • Matt- There was no Hail with this storm to my knolage. The strom hit at about Noon. As for temp drop- IM not exactly sure. The storm was more than a month ago, and I didnt have any kind of official readings. I would guess 15- 20 degreese, but IM not sure of the acuricy in that statment

  • Wow, 15-20 dc. Really, there was no hail? Lol, cause those clouds looked mean.

  • they looked mean to me too. The main component of this storm was severe lgithning, sometimes only 100s of feet away. The NWS said there was a possibility of pea sized hail but I didnt see any. My temp. drop estimate may be off, because I got very wet trying to film, and thus was cold after the storm passed. That may have caused it to feel colder than it was

  • The reason why the temperature dropped was because the storm obviously decreases the humidity. Second, there must have been a sharp cold front coming through because that is what produces severe thunderstorms. I know that for a fact because one time in was 35 dc + humidity which made it around 42-43. Cold front came in and next thing I knew we had a tornado warning. Nasty weather can be.

  • When was this storm?

  • May 16th

  • thanks for the compliaments guys. when I get a better .mov to .wmv converter I repost this vid as full direct footage ( there is about 90 seconds that isnt "direct" because the mov converter would only do 5 minuit clips...)

  • Yeah, pretty cool, you can even see the lights on the buildings go out around that lighting strike about 6:30 ...

  • This was great storm chasing work, Chris. You look like an experienced chaser out there. Hopefully you will get some more storms by mid-next week. Keep up the good work. Im heading out to tornado alley myself next week.

  • Wow!!! Excellent footage, Chris! At about 4min in you can clearly see the intense precipitation core associated with the cell. You got some great cloud-to-ground shots in there too, the strike at 6:20 sounded like it was right next to you? The slow-motion stuff is perfect too... great job on the editing!!!

  • hey vmax; was that a super cell, or just a strong storm? Or do you ahve any way of knowing by looking at the radar loop/ footage?

  • I don't believe it was a super cell, though it's hard to say for sure. From the radar loop it doesn't appear to have had a typical super cell configuration... but either way it was obviously a very strong cell.
