This is so fake, they have plexi-glas under the water surface. You can clearly see that he brakes the surface suddenly after a long distance in high speed. If this was real, he would have lost speed and then brake the water surface. But still the sport exist. So dont lose faith people, the longest real water running i've seen is like 4 meters and 3 steps. You just need speed and believe.
One of the gecko species can run on water so why couldn't we do it? i really believe this is possible with the right gear (repelent shoes etc.) We'll it is prooved in this video. But you're an idiot, how do you know if is real or not...
The makers of the video is either REALLY good at faking or then it is simply just real stuff we're lookin at. You decide.. Why not try it out? i will haha :)
Check out the other vids of Liquid Mountaineering and think again.
@DJCOPPY2K9 okay the geckos speed compared to its mass is enormous. It's simple physics for a human being weighing over 120 pounds to replicate what the extremely light gecko does, youd have to be running at over 80 miles an hour...thats impossible
@AAGuitar123 i cant believe how stupid some people are to take an advertisment and parade it round as scientific prove.Going by DJ's logic a chicken can lay an egg so why couldnt we do it?
@DJCOPPY2K9 the makers of this video is hi-tec or did you miss that part. "i really believe this is possible with the right gear (repelent shoes etc.)" lol thats because your not very intelligent."The makers of the video is either REALLY good at faking" No your just dumb, did you not notice that except for the wetsuits almost every piece of clothing they have has the hi-tec logo. Its ion mask technology.
i think it probably just has to do with water tension. doing a belly flop off a high board hurts becuase at that speed and surface area, the water no longer acts as a soft and fluid body, but rather it acts like a much harder surface. i suppose if one manages to slap their feet down fast enough, it could provide enough resistance... just think about it.
@ryanwashere8907 that is the question isn't it and I don't have the answer, but in principle I think it could be possible. Wider shoes would also help.
@TheSwedeJohan No its actually real, and its not the same distance. The way this works is the same way a rock skips across the water. If they make it the same distance every time its because thats as far as they can go without falling. Maybe the videos you see here are of people's best distances. But if you look at other videos and do more research, you'll find that this is an actual hobby that people pursue. It's kinda cool but probably hard as hell
@jaorocks1 no it makes a lot of sence... When they slow down and the steps get smaller then one feet sunks into the water and then its to late and the rest goes after that.
@som1112 Alright alrighht I get chu, but thats the masses are different and the fact that gravity is constant at 9.8m/s makes it virtually impossible to get as far as they did
@som1112 Sorry, you got suckered. To skip a rock, you don't just throw it parallel to the water. You spin it as fast as you can. It's the spinning that gets it to skip as well. Throwing the rock just makes it sink. Humans, especially with just sneakers, cannot run on water nearly fast enough. This skipping rocks principle is dumb.

At 0:48, you can see the mat they're using underwater come up beneath the surface.

@jaorocks1 when you skip a rock across the water, does it gradually sink in the water? No, after ti gets 2-3 skips it just sinks in. This is real.

but your feat are moving at larger rate of kinetic energy then a rock that's being tossed across the water
so you have the human weight with gravity force, combined with your foot being forced down
