  • "OH MY GOD, STOP HIM!!"

I died at that point. XD

  • I think 13 people here are PETA Nut Jobs! : D

  • I think a guy in the 17th century did something like this with cats.

  • Were can I buy a mouse organ? I really want to play one!

  • Terry Jones should have been also be the guest of the Muppet show! (this reminds me so much of one Muppet sketch!) I´m sure that he and Gonzo would be great buddies! <3

  • Important question. How exactly does he get more than one note out of each mouse?

  • This sketch even got a brief mention on Radio 4's Material World today (21/7/11)...

  • XDDD MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!

  • This will always get me LOLing!

  • For you people who eat tasty animals (PETA). -- Learn what 'cringe, satire, slapstick, black humor' and all that other stuff is before you make a dink out of yourselves for commenting on something that you have no real knowledge about.

  • Is it just me, or did the guy hauling Arthur Ewing off the stage lose his headset during the struggle?

  • @Warrior1984100 You're right, it DID fell off, I never noticed it before! Well spotted. ;)

  • @tugatomsk Thank you!

  • I lost it when he showed those wooden mallets!

  • "OH MY GOD, STOP HIM!!!"

    --12 people.

  • I think the E sharp was a joke within the joke. They did write a lot of music...

  • lol at E sharp, you can tell these guys don't play music.

  • @88res E# does exist

    It's just called F

  • @Prometheusmfd

    haha yea no doubt

  • I love Monty Phython. <3 <3

  • 'it is quite clear that he is slaughtering the mice'

  • I am the vice chairman of the West Midlands Mice Hamsters And Other Cute Furry Rodents Society (WMMHAOCFRS) and I think this sketch is a blummin disgrace.

  • I once had a pet fish called Eric. He was a... halibut.

  • Never watch this video while eating lunch.

  • 7 PETA members have no sense of humor.

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion Humor? I don't care about no mice, but how is this funny?

  • @Tuftelien Because it combines dark humor and music. Slamming mallets into mice causes people to go up in arms, and hilarity ensues.

  • what makes me rofl is the mouse squeaks

  • hahahahahahahaha hahahahahaha soooo fuckin funny

  • The gentleman in the blue shirt seems to be unmusical :-)

  • my thoughts during this video:

0:31 "how does one "play" mice"

    0:40 "oh dear god, no..."

    0:46 (laughing)"oh god no"

  • nice slide!

  • 5 people who voted on this are the mice.

  • god DAMN! XD

  • Oh my god! Somebody Stop him! Was that John Cleese who was yelling?

  • @csibatmanfan Sounds like it. Monty Python is genius.

  • @csibatmanfan as far as i know its john cleese thats smashing the mouses

  • @kallemick It's Terry Jones smashing the mice. John cleese is in the background saying 'oh my god stop him!'

  • damn hippies... let him end the song at least!

  • You shouldn't pick up mice by their tails. It can really hurt their backs. Just saying.

  • @lisambofoh So, incidentally, does hitting them with a mallet.

  • this is possibly my favorite flying circus sketch

  • He loves meeces to pieces!!! :p

  • I love how the audience (other than the laugh track) only seems to have one member - unmistakably John Cleese.

  • @gelchert Fair enough, but it's most definitely not a laugh track, these parts of the shows were recorded "live in the studio" with audience.

  • My favorite part is when he manages to escape and starts pounding them again!

  • yeah, but meeces is more fun =)

  • presumably this organ is single use only -poor meeces (meeces = more than one mouse- well, it makes sense to me...)

  • multiple of mouse is mice

  • Not to question the comedic hilarity of Monty Python, but I wonder if the skit could have been even funnier if he didn't reveal the hammers until he was actually playing. Gesture with his hands and then quickly grab the hammers from out of sight and start playing.

  • I hearby flag this video for being too dangerous, as it is so hilarious that it can cause people to die laughing.

  • You're flagging the wrong video. That video is the "funniest joke ever" sketch.

  • @tanfoculta Incorrect. This is the one that is dangerous. 8gpjk_MaCGM (Copy that into the youtube search box).

  • @tanfoculta im glad i survived laughing then XD

  • @tanfoculta

Death induced by laughter... perhaps we could weaponize this?

  • @spinalTapSoundGuy That's a fabulous idea! but we'd have to translate it into another language so we wouldn't be affected...

  • theres another version of this from & now for something completely fifferent were he plays 3 blind mice. also theres the pig piano that waz made in france given to 1 of the king louis nt sure which 1

  • LOLz!one1111!

    ~

  • The Muppet show did a version of this, pretty cool.

This is actually the first time that I have seen the original.

  • i just pissed myself from laughing so hard.

  • A German doctor did this in the 1700s unfortunately :( But he did it with cats instead. It was called a Katzenklavier.

  • didnt kircher live in the 1600s

    from1601-1680?

  • trust the germans

  • @Aslavetotime There was a Russian who did it with pigs too...took him months to selectt he right piglets....when he played he forgot that piglets grow......they were a little bit out of tune. :)

  • @Morethanbobsonofbob

I sort of love that that sort of thing happens in the world! Do you have film footage of those pigs?

  • @Gareth7685 Sadly not, it was made by a member of the French court for King Louis XI of France. The musician/inventor in question was the abbot of Baigne if you want to check out the full story. Would have been great to have seen it in action.

  • Monty Python's Flying Circus:

    Comedy so clean, it squeaks.

  • good slogan

  • This sketch is one of my earliest TV memories. So funny.

  • This is hilarious.

  • lol so random yet so funny. the squeaking is brilliant, so is john cleese as the audience

    JAG2045

  • The first time I ever saw this sketch on TV I literally cried with laughter. The typically rediculous and implausable Python build up ticks along nicely up to the point (about 40 seconds in) when the Mallets are produced and then it's uphill all the way. Classic Python.

  • ditto. I've seen this a bunch of times but it still makes me laugh. Thank God for Monty Python!

  • I don't think this is the whole thing right?

I just remembered that this was the funniest thing I had ever seen, and had to re-watch it. Made me cry with laughter again.

  • God I thought I was going to die from laughter when I first saw this. LOL

  • Was that Terry Gilliam trying to get Terry Jones off that set?

  • No. This man's hair is too dark and he doesn't look like Terry G., who in those days was rather blond.

It's probably a member of the stage crew. There's a number of sketches with a member or two of the crew in them.

  • one of my favorite skits.

  • Hahahaha!

    God I love Monty Python!
