Sorry, I just never liked the Airacobra. It's probably amazing with people who know how to use it, but I just think there are better airplanes that have the engine in the correct spot. Don't know what they were thinking when they put the engine in the middle of the aircraft like a jet.

Put the engine on the CofG and then fill the nose up with a BIG F'off gun and loads of ammo. Worked OK but the engine was the P-39's weak link.

If i remember correctly this plane was dubbed the widow maker because of the shaft that run from the engine under the cockpit to the prop so when a belly landing was performed the shaft would kill the pilot

There is something attractive with the P-39, maybe because it was the first plane that I flew on Il-2 :p. Anyway, if you learn to push it to its limits (without passing them), make use of its strong points and take advantage of that heavy and concentrated firepower you have at your disposal, it makes a good dogfighter, a kick-ass bomber-killer an a nice mud-mover.

Guncam is just the cockpit view cycled to gunsight only then converted to black & white in Movie Maker. Check out Mission4today for skins, mods n stuff.

5 people missed the "thumbs up" button. I like the camera angles you employed. One suggestion is to try MAT Manager for IL-2. It replaces the markings with more realistic ones, and enables historical swastikas (German) and hakaristi (Finnish).

Many other Il-2 pilots think that the P-39 is a piece of junk that spins easy and stalls all the time. It is actually quiet an excelent airplane in the right hands. Its has good speed, heavy armament, good rear visibility, not too bad in high speed turns if kept just within limits.Overall, I agree its one of my favorite airplanes to fly.

the problem to manage is, that you have to beware of spinning and know what your plane can do and what it can NOT do...its really a good plane which can also dogfight spits and 109s! but if it stalls, its really really hard to get it back to normal flight...

Considering what you had to work with, I think you did a terrific job! WMM and FRAPS are not the best programs for making videos, but this one look excellent>

I doubt that the full version of Fraps would give better resolution.  The conversion process here at Youtube doesn't help your resolution anyway. What helped mine the most was getting a decent graphics card. I didn't realize how bad it ws until the first time I fired up IL2 with the card in place!

I've seen some nice glass smooth IL2 videos and high res screenies around, guess my Geforce 8400 GS could be improved on?

You've asked the wrong person. Your card is far better than mine. Maybe it has something to do with game settings, screen resolution or it might relly be FRAPS. Of course, your system might have something to do with it too. Although with a card like that, even a moderate system should be able to deliver good stuff.

The Airacobra is a really sexy plane... from the outside at least (cockpit makes me want to gag). Plus that cannon is great for He-111's or those pesky 109's. =]
