Pick Withers : drums (until 1982) then Terry Williams (to 1983 until 1988) and finally Chris Whitten (to 1991 until 1992 but never credited as a member).
@hjenkinz yep, because no famous musicians ever had drug or alcohol problems during their careers. except clapton, hendrix, keith moon, bon scott, elvis pressley, hillel slovak, anthony kiedis, johnny cash, etc.
I saw them in Lausanne, June 1992, magical moment, the stadium was more full than with Pink Floyd or U2, almost 55.000 people, all lit with candles during brothers in arms, I'll never forget those moments !!!!
So zu spielen lernt man doch nicht, oder? Ich glaube, damit wird man geboren, das kann man von der ersten Sekunde seines Lebens--zumindest, wenn man Mark Knopfler heißt...Hammer-Video!
One and half a year now my life changed thanks to this incredible man, i just love him...so much that i m sure i ll cry for him!!! I started tha guitar six months ago and i m doing all right!!! Thank God!!! Lov ya Mark!!!
Wow! An amazing performance -- thank you so much for sharing it here.
Too bad the audience has so little respect for the genius they ostensibly came to hear that some of them can't manage to STFU during the pianissimo.
The one consolation is, I thought American crowds were the only ones that clueless & rude. But hey, we're still the very loudest, I'm sure; USA! #1! USA! #1!
io posso dire solo una cosa...FENOMENALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on that tour Mark wanted to recreate "Old times" Sultans of Swing, when Dire Straits were only in four and not playing in stadiums or palaces but in clubs...
Mark is guiding and leading all the players till the end..it a team playing and creating a perfect blend of song dont you ever watch and see how many hour on stage just to making the song sound right for us to listen....no ego and no nothing .......just listen and be happy....dont look 4 something bad ....musician is uniq and clean person there is no EGO is just you....like we all say feeling it dirty all the time.... CREGSER go watch wrestling or Tom and JERRY....
Did anyone else get the feeling that the sax player was getting in the way of Mark unleashing his guitar towards the end? He had his little duet with Mark and then I wanted him to step aside. Instead he went centre stage... I thought I could see Mark regretting his decision to bring an ego on stage with him.
This was my favorite concert, after Alchemy, and I have still an old VDS tape of the whole concert. ( - I have already your video in my fav- see Nice concert.)
simply spectacular
