  • The first time I heard this song I knew I was going to love it for the rest of my life.

  • If we all listened to awesomeness like this, the world would be a slightly better place.

  • 1:55 is where it all begins :]

  • This is song really keeps repeating in your head!

Every day i want to play this number.

  • Wow this makes me want to go out and play some jazz i have to learn first....ha

  • Imported all their CD's they are so great best jazz I've ever heard and never gets boring!

  • Saw these guys live tonight, they were so amazing.

  • mein lieber Gott!! Japanese nu-jazz really is something

i can recommend you viewer, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Quasimode, Jazztronik, FreeTEMPO, Jazzida Grande, trust me

  • Fantastic chill muzic! I love this style perfect! 6/5

  • Hello guys, could someone give me names of modern occidental jazz bands like this? I love japanese bands like Soil & pimp, Pe'z, Tokyo jihen (more pop) and old jazz like John coltrane, Miles davis...

    Thanks

  • Quasimode

  • @docenji indigo jazz unit, also japanese jazz.

  • Holy shit, some pianist.

The whole band rocks, but he really stands out.

  • ニューオリンズ在住の日本人ですが、こんな素晴らしいバンドが日本にいたなんて感動です。かっこいいですね!日本人の誇りです。

  • Real music not some virtual synthesizer crap. Real instruments , real People , real Feelings.

A song respecting the good old jazz philosophy.

  • ang galing!

  • Best 5 minutes of my life.

  • Lol. Some of ya'll are some haters!

I kid. But seriously, this is quite brilliant music regardless of genre, label or danceability!

  • amazing finally found these cats saw em on jools holand great tunes lots of soul in it 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Once every eight years I see something I like enough to go out and spend money on. (and I'm a jazz singer) I'm going out to buy this. enough said :-) love the energy. don't care about comparisons, just in it for a good time and great music.

  • wow! this is brilliant! So much energy! love it

  • These guys are awesome.. I love Coltrane, David et al but the issue is I've listened to them for years now and they're not able to produce anything new, and these guys are. It's great to have guys who love the music they play and can inspire people to listen to jazz which they obviously do...

  • Stop comparing these guys with the giants of jazz. The giants are dead but jazz is still alive. If we where just to replicate what has already been done we would go no where. And Japan and Jazz is a long time love story. Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Jobim... all of them went to Japan.

  • What I don't like is that many people say that japanese people can play jazz but western people can't draw manga...that's mean..

  • Coltrane would never have played in dance/altenative clubs like Cargo, KOKO and Roundhouse like these guys do. They even describe themselves as "deathjazz" as a playful, semi-ironic differentiation to trad jazz acts out there. There dance/jazz/funk/grunge/acid/craziness all rolled into one... what they are NOT is straight jazz. To put it another way, I was at their KOKO gig and the crowd was moshing.

  • I agree more or less with what you're saying, but 'grunge'? No.

  • I think some poeple are on the wrong page here...To compare Soil & Pimp to Coltrane and Davis (who I love) is to suggest that they are actually making the same music...they are not. Soil & Pimp have said in their own words they are not jazz. They are a fusion of genres of which jazz is a heavy element. The "pimp" (big hat guy) is co-founder and main co-writer and actually a DJ which is why there is a strong club/dance element.

  • just good music

  • I saw them at the Garden Festival Zadar this year. I managed to catch the drummers sticks! ;P

  • Damn when the hell did the Japanese learn how to play real Jazz! I like bigtime!

  • This is great : ) Just discovered them today. <3

  • Saw them yesterday. The studio albums are great but they are even more amazing live!

  • what a band.........i was not ready hahaha

i just fell like i had in experience

  • Did you ever notice the mistake in the video? At 2:59 the trumpet player is standing at the side of the piano. In the next seen he is in the center of the bus. No worries; awesome song by and awesome band.

SUPERB!!!! I got speechless after listening this tune!!

    These guys are the best!!!

  • this m8s rock the jazz :D happy I am ;)

  • one of my favorites right after aie reedit now that is a great song.

  • The name of the song is "A.I.E." not "aie reedit". That's just the *re-edited* version of the song!

  • Hey that's how I saw it on their myspace page. Still love the band though.

  • I prefer the A.I.E. Re-Edit version to the regular A.I.E. too. The 5/4 break has a lot more balls in that version. I still like this song better than both though.

  • gr888 track, does any1 know what album this song is on?

    thank you!xxxxx

  • Pimp of the Year

  • tight:)

  • Interesting.. the only sort of fusion i like is japanese.

Jazztronik, kyoto jazz massive, soil pimp. love it!!

  • Defenitely one of the best modern jazz ever !!!

    anyone heard for Quasimode?

  • thanks for telling me about them! (quasimod) they re great as well. really good!!

  • i know quasimode! they are really awesome.and i've got all of their albums. its so nice.

  • OYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • fucking amazing

  • really great stuff

it could use a low wind player, in my opinion

  • It would be awesome if they added flute or clarinet.

  • yes i agree

  • Amazing! Damn

  • man...I cant stop listening to their songs ITS AMAZING,lol

  • i don't know much about this kind of music.

but i can feel the vibes and energy!

    therefore,its great music for me!!!

  • I have give thanks to my friend for introducing me to the sounds of this band. This track and Memai can real get the body moving.

  • The best band of jazz of the world!

Pure soul & heart in his music.

  • i love this song!!!

  • that's a good peace of hardbob. they have the energy of some 18-year-old musicians but the wisdom and the skills of old masters. an awesome mixture!

  • agree! though they r probably in their late 20s, early 30s.. awesome band!!

  • it was more a metaphor ;-)

  • 5 minutes 2 seconds... that's all it took for these guys to change the face of jazz music forever.

  • these guys make my top ten jazz

  • clearly you're an ill-cultured moron.

  • Holy christ.

  • comment = fucking lulz

  • WOUW!

  • is adictive, lile LSD but more good. Long live the summer goddes

  • its kinda funny to see shacho in a video since he only really does anything in front of a live crowd.

  • maybe he a "shacho" for real, in that case? i saw him kind of djing at ageha once...

  • the "agitator" was a dj before his position in soil&pimp sessions. they met when he was DJing in roppongi

  • Jesus and Mary, these guys blow me out of the water! I've got goosebumps like crazy... Hah, I love the instigator guy, every one of these guys is amazing!

  • Love a few of their more downbeat tracks ~ i think some tunes like "a wheel within a wheel" "waltz for goddess" or the 8th track on "Pimp of the year" are as good, or better, than any davis, coltrane, or anyone stuff i've heard, not to mention this stuff has got more energy than a barrell of jimmy smith

  • Why am I strangely attracted to shacho?

  • c d'la grosse balle!

  • My homeboy just got me turned on to these cats. I'm diggin' it! I'm going to have to start lobbying for a U.S. tour

  • These guys are great!

Keep the real jazz vibe alive!!!

  • Hot stuff!

  • Pure jazz... Jazz jazz jazz, plus jazz.

    Swings.

  • This is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!

    THIS BAND IS AMAZING!!

  • That's one jazzy bus!

  • these cats know wassup w/ jazz. You should here some of their edgier stuff like "Crush" or "Memai." Bringing back jazz to when it was the innovator to all music.

  • they got a track called "memai"?!! whoa... "memai" means "dizzy"? cool cool

  • Verry Kool!

  • Love this song. Reminds me of a Mardi Gras style carnival, or the like.

  • Oi vey!!! Bon merde!!! Obrigado for bringing the jazz back SP Sessions!!

  • damn! this is quite great!!!
