They compared Iverson to him. I think Brandon Jennings and Iverson are the only ones that come close, but I can't ever seem them leading in both scoring and assists. Iverson could have done it. Tiny is one of the best scorers under 6 feet.
I lived in KC when Tiny Archibald played with the KC/Omaha Kings. He did things on the court that made your jaw drop. Definitely one of the greatest point guards ever.
"Tiny" Archibald was a giant in the land of giants. He would slash through defenses with the precision of an evasive halfback. He had the intelligence of a quarterback and skills of a Harlem Globetrotter. Nate is definitely one of the greats.
sorry to tell you but the big O led the league in assists in 67-68.dave bing led the league in scoring with 27.1 in detroit so tiny is the only player to lead in scoring and assists in the same season
well who do you think Kenny Anderson patterned his game after? He's mentioned it on several occasions. Tiny grew up in NYC and was a NYC legend at point guard. It was only natural for Kenny being a point guard to mirror Tiny, then Marbury to mirror Anderson (Georgia Tech)

Nate Archibald is the ONLY player in the history of the NBA to lead the league in both scoring and assists. Enough said.

yeah nate was a beast. similar to jordan leading the league in scoring and steals. love players like that
bobbymarsh1 2 years ago
@81broncoman:
That record will probably remain too. 34 ppg and 11 asg for a season to lead the league in both stats is superhuman.

the Big "O" was so good that he was the FIRST GUARD IN NBA HISTORY TO AVERAGED 10 assists per game !!!!
No guard had ever dished 10pg before then!
AND OSCAR was the shooting guard that CHANGED & REVOLUTIONIZED THE SHOOTING GUARD BEFORE MIKE JORDAN !!
WILT CHAMBERLAIN LED THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS ALSO !!
WILT COULD SCORE,DRIBBLE,BLOCK SHOTS,REBOUND & PASS !!
Wilts only weakness was free throw shooting.
The BEST 3 centers HAVE TO START w/WILT,,BILL RUSSELL & KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR

Go Tiny! I'm so glad he won a championship with Larry, because so many other greats never won a title.
