  • That's why wastedontuesday is probably wasted on tuesday!!! I hope he doesn't end up wasted on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday

  • now i realy realy hate science. but this blew my mind, expecialy the part about laminin. but for all of you who STILL dont belive, stop looking at the fact and start to open your eyes. and more inportantly, your heart. took at the world around you, the people that you love, the grass growing, the flowers blooming, everything around you happening in purfect rythem. and tell my thats not a miracle. God Bless.

  • amazing

  • "Beetle-Juice"

  • I'm tired of the hypocrisy going on here. I am a Christian and I know nothing without Christ. I could know everything and waste my life miserably. I've lied, cheated, hated, lusted and so much more. There's no possible way that I or anyone else can meet the standards of God. Yet I believe that Christ, lived a perfect life on earth, died bearing the wrath of every saved sinner, and rose again. There is nothing special about ME that made me believe.

  • @emmie10203 Amen friend! Great comment! Christianity is the opposite of all other beliefs. Man's ways vs God's Way. 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given!

  • @emmie10203 I don't get it. "There is nothing special about ME that made me believe." that made you believe that you cannot meet the standards of God? You believe in that God but you think you are too small to be able to know what is happening in this universe?why not?It is called intimacy. Being able to be close to God in a different way. not just, to know that He died and rose and.... so many things that we learn at church but it is not just learning, it is getting to know Him.

  • @emmie10203 "There is nothing special about ME that made me believe." that made you believe that you cannot meet the standards of God? You believe in that God but you think you are too small to be able to know what is happening in this universe?why not?It is called intimacy.

  • Joel, let me lead off with the fact is that I did not try to show anyone, I used logical thought and apolgetics to defend the faith. and fitness swimmer is pretty much right. but the truth is not always a definete, espicially when it is something unknowable, I therefore suggest that before we require the belowmentioned characteristics to "find" truth, we define what the "truth" is....and joel, its people like you who spark these arguments like these that require the thoughtful to comment on

  • ... and this has what to do with God exactly ... ?

  • @shadroth Oh man, you don't get it right?that is called faith, things that we cannot see but believe.and that does not mean we don't think. sometimes God says that we should believe like children do. not thinking to much, but believing He is amazing!

  • @elolalore Not thinking too much ... hmmmm ... I think I understand how this works now.

  • If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. It is simply too painful to acknowledge-that we've been so credulous. Finding truth, requires intelligence, vigilance, dedication, and most of all courage. If we don't practice these tough habits of thought, we cannot hope to solve the difficult problems that face our world.

Are you part of a Nation of intelligent reason? Or a Nation of suckers? up for grabs by the next charlatan who comes along.

  • GO JON! DANG BABY SHOWED THAT ATHIEST UP! Im not a scientist.....heck im getting a C in science right now but ive thoroughly read all that u had to say and i am still not convinced cuz i know that when the time comes, you will think twice about your relationship with god. i hope the best for u. and i will keep u in my prayers. JESUS LOVES U!

  • True...I suppose that if one is steadfast in their beliefs, scientific or religious, it is hard to change that...I'm not sure how you started devasting the Christians on this board, but my friend came to me asking me to try my hand at apologetics, so excuse me if my arguments arent exactly coherent...but yea...If you could just stop owning the christians on this board who dont know how to defend their faith, I would greatly appreciate...Have a good rest of your life -Grimacing

  • Anela, this one goes out to you...Learn fricking apologetics....how does that sound?

  • So God became something that was unknowable?...I c...I dont pretend to be a genius, but do you think there is even the possibility of Intelligent design, or was it all random chance...and anela...shut the heck up...Im trying to defend the faith through logics rather than midnless propaganda spouted from someone who doesnt even bother to back up what they say with facts, but I digress. The real question I have is do you think there could have been, or not have been intelligent design?

  • God didn't become "unknowable" exactly, it just occurred to me that everything I didn't know has a scientific basis. I don't believe in intelligent design, because too much evidence supports the contrary. To borrow the argument put forth by Richard Dawkins, who created the creator? Random chance is unlikely, but even more unlikely is the concept of a timeless being that transcends the laws of matter.

  • I c...how about the moral sense of right and wrong in a man. If a dog has not had discipline enforced upon it by a human, does it know whether it has done right or wrong?...where as humans, regardless have an innate sense of guilt, shame, etc, etc...or at least from what I have studied I believe such. This does lead to the morals question again but just trying to make a point, better question, what caused you to leave the catholic church?

  • I don't think humans are born with a sense of morality. We're raised according to the values of society which teach us to respect one another. Also, humans are an interdependent species and we instinctually develop relationships with other people by striving for a mutual well-being.

  • As for why I left the church, even as a little kid I was always very skeptical of (and to some extent even offended by) their teachings. I used to believe in god simply to explain things I didn't understand, but as I learned more about genetics and evolution I began to realize that everything around me is really just science. I think that was when I became an atheist: when it became clear to me that god (at least for me) was just the name I gave to all the things I didn't know.

  • Well, Im sorry about the gender confusion, just have been a little preoccupied. A quick question then about morals. Since we techinacally are animals, and still evolving, will the higher evolution be the one to make our morals, or will are morals still apply to the animals of higher evolution?

  • If by higher evolution you mean greater intelligence, then yes, I suppose you could claim that the more highly evolved an animal is, the stronger its "morals". For example, a dog could be viewed as more moral than a squirrel, because a dog possesses the awareness to know when it has done something wrong. Not that I would necessarily call a dog moral though. Of course, this leads back to the question of what morals are in the first place.

  • not exacttly the greatest argument anela...actually a terrible one. Just saying things on Youtube without any proof is a sure way to make you and your faith look bad. I for one agree with wastedontuesday about analyzing the rocks on mount sinai. I also want to ask him what gives man a sense of moral absolutes unlike an animal. If you would keep your baseless propaganda shoved into by well meaning sunday school teachers off the boards, it would be much more civilized...good day sir

  • Thanks, Gr1m4c1ng. I appreciate your willingness to use reason in this discussion (a quick correction though: I'm a she, not a he). About animals and morals, you need to ask yourself what exactly morals are. Technically, we too are animals. Our increased intellegence allows us to predict the outcomes of our actions and develop interpersonal relations in ways that other animals cannot. But morals are just a sense of right and wrong, not a gift from god.

  • and im not arguing

im just telling you the TRUTH

  • Jesus is BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • true, true, you are not a geologist, and neither am I. but the rocks were the same as the ones that cover the entire desert, and I do not believe that rocks on top of a mountain suffer from intense heat and pressure. And for science to prove something, it needs to be tested...Im pretty sure that we dont have enough energy or matter around us to recreate the start of the universe. I do not shun science, in fact I usually agree with it. but the movie with ben stein recently changed my position.

  • Mountains are formed from shifts in the earth's crust or volcanic activity. There wouldn't be intense heat or pressure on top of the mountain, but maybe underground before the mountain was even formed. And I didn't say scientists should re-create the universe, but it would help if the rocks from the so called Mt. Sinai were analyzed.

  • So stars are big. Cool, thanks for telling us. But what evidence does that provide for there being a god? Sure, science can't explain everything... yet. Does that mean we have to give up and decide that stars are big because someone created them that way? This video doesn't prove that God exists: it proves that people are willing to believe whatever crap is thrown at them in the hopes of understanding things beyond their comprehension.

  • if you don't mind my asking, how Do you believe the universe was created?

  • Well I'm not sure. That's the beauty of science, it leaves room for questions. I think it would be slightly presumptuous of me to claim that I know the origins of the universe. Just think of all the scientific advances we've made within the last thousand years, and imagine all the stuff yet to be discovered.

  • with all of the scientific advances that Are being made, we're seeing that everythings is amazingly complex! how could the universe just "happen" to fit together and provide an environment so perfect for humans!?

  • I agree, it is complex. But how is it an adequate explanation to claim that there's a creator? If anything, saying that someone made the universe is like attributing quantum mechanics to magic. Complex science has complex scientific explanations.

  • its your choice to believe what you want but the reality of it is those who reject God and dont believe in Him will spend ETERNITY in hell once they die, while believers in Christ are spending ETERNITY with God in the most wonderful thing you could ever imagine, heaven

  • by the way if you dont know what hell is like- its a place where your on fire, but not burning apart, the devils home, where things so bad you cant even imagine will happen to you. your choice, pick the path

  • Thanks for the warning. However, I find it highly unlikely that god would create humans and then be egocentric enough to punish them for not worshiping him. And yes, I am familiar with the concept of hell because I was raised Catholic and spent 13 years attending Catholic school. But don't bother trying to scare me with promises of eternal damnation: I don't believe in it. You may as well tell me that the Eater Bunny is going to kill me in my sleep. I couldn't care less.

  • Easter** haha I need to learn how to type.

  • it's not that God Wants so punish us. i'm guessing you know the story of adam and eve. God wanted to spend eternity with them in a perfect land. but they screwed up. God is perfect - and He's just. God gave us the game plan when He created us: we were supposed to obey Him. when we messed up, God had to punish us, like children. He couldn't spend eternity with sinners. that's why He sent Jesus.

  • God can do whatever he wants. Just as you can with things you make. If he gave you EVERYTHING then he has every right to command that you worship him. In fact, he already paid the price for you refusing, and if you repent and turn back to him, he will forgive you for all your sins.

  • God created the earth. God created you. God created me. HE is our creator. HE is AMAZING!

Why did he create us? Why are we here? FOR HIM HIM HIM HIM HIM HIM!!!!

    ITS ABOUT GOD!!!!

We were created BY GOD and FOR GOD

    and until you understand that,

    life will never make sense.

  • My life makes perfect sense, without bringing your god or any other god into the picture as a means to explain it.

  • so sad

    youll see

  • What an ego maniacal asshole. Making people suffer for his own amusement. We are lucky that the myths of the bible are not true.

  • dude....there is proof everywhere that there is a god...they found noahs ark in turkey. every prophecy foretold in the old testimate came true later on. there is a story in the bible about jesus and posessed pigs and these posessed pigs ran off a cliff. i know it sounds goofy but its a story and in isreal there is a farm still standing with a broken fence near a cliff.and if u pray to god he will answer with a yes or no. whatever he does he does its best for u. it may not b right away but listen

  • They haven't actually found Noah's Ark, they simply have a theory that it could be on top of Mt. Ararat. A very weak theory, given the fact that they have yet to prove the unknown object is even a boat, let alone Noah's. And a broken fence is hardly evidence for Jesus. If a fence is over 2000 years old (which I sincerely doubt it would be...), it's no surprise that it's broken. No need to jump to the conclusion that it was caused by a stampede of demonic pigs.

  • Alright....quick question tuesday. what about mount sinai? Two men snuck into saudi arabia and took footage of the mountain top. It matched every single description the bible gave, and on top of the mountain, the rock was scorched. the entire mountain summit is black with soot. the rocks are baked on the outisde and normal on the inside. how do you explain that?

  • I'm not a geologist, but I do know that granite is an igneous rock and can become a metamorphic rock (a.k.a. "melted granite") under high pressure and heat. Why do we have to automatically assume that god was responsible for this? Have geological explanations like lava flows even been considered, or was science simple shunned for religious convenience?

  • Louie knows how to get the message across about the omnipotence and omnipresence of God. I went to one of the concerts he spoke at and you walk away in awe of who God is.

  • An anazing God we serve! How is it we get to serve a God so big and creative?

  • WOW. That thing is HUGE
