  • Ya your right buddy, arena bands were just that, some were called stadium bands or bar bands, just depends on thier favorite venue, I saw Lizzy they were AWSOME , they say blues had a baby and they called it Rock and Roll Ha nomatter musics universal just enjoy!!!!!!!

  • @trooper1ize very truthfull statement !!!!!!! KEEP ON ROCKING !!!!!!!!!

  • This was my dads anthem for soooo long. I miss him and I love this song!

  • I guess i've been away for awhile, never heard of the #1 u tube song, Whiskey Jar? It ain't the same as the bad boy old jams!

  • wtf is the difference between rock n roll and rock and arena rock.

  • @SarmVX

Good question i have no idea

  • @SarmVX hmm, to explain it in an easy way; rock'n'roll is the older stuff like buddy holly and so on; rock is mostly the definition for any kind of music played by atleast a guitar :D sometimes its closely compared to hard rock stuff like ac/dc... and arena rock i think is some more "epic" songs as u know from queen maybe?! :)

  • @SarmVX

Rock is a general term. Technically, Metallica and Maroon 5 are both rock. Rock 'n' Roll, in the catagorical sense, sort of died out in the 60s, it was characterized by a loud backbeat and guitar parts that imitated horn parts. Arena Rock, sometimes incorrectly used interchangeably with AOR (Album Oriented Rock), is what most people refer to as "classic rock." It is hard to distinguish what exactly constitutes an arena rock band, as the only real similarity is the filling of arenas.

  • @Kangaxxter

There are a great number of what people consider "arena rock" bands, such as Queen, Boston, Aerosmith, LEd Zepplin, etc. However, their styles are not at all similar. What the correct term be to describe Thin Lizzy would be Hard Rock, which is characterized by heavy (and technically proficient) use of distorted electric guitar, strong vocal leads, and little to no use of post-production effects.

  • @SarmVX

Rock and Roll has heavy RnB and Country elements. Rock is just Rock.

  • @SarmVX Rock and Roll is just what you hear on the radio. Arena Rock is something that you and millions of others hear in an arena and enjoying good times with strangers and friends!

  • @SarmVX Arena is a bigger sound. The difference between a band like The Rolling Stones and Thin Lizzy.

  • @TheJinjo75 to*

  • @SarmVX Arena Rock is basically any band that sound fuckin absolutely great in an arena

  • and they need the area to convey the sound. Go to a Motley Crue concert and YOU will see what i mean

  • @SarmVX the tickets and beverages cost more?

  • @SarmVX well as i know the rythm is what is different!!rock n roll is like "the jack" or "hgihway to hell" by Ac/dc and is older than Rock.Rock is more like"gagagagagan":P arena rock?no idea:P

  • any lizzy from nightlife forward is great!

  • Epic = A black irish man singing a western song and doing it better than anyone else ever could.

  • @greyfoxzero Word

  • @greyfoxzero Nothing really a "western" song.

  • @r3t0dd Western music originated as a form of American folk music. Originally composed by and about the people who settled and worked throughout the Western United States and Western Canada. Directly related musically to old English, Scottish, and Irish folk ballads, Western music celebrates the life of the cowboy on the open ranges and prairies of Western North America(wikipedia). Sounds western to me. hell that sounds like the lyrics too.

  • God bless Croatia and Ireland.

  • @Voltage219 God bless Scotland too =D

  • i can't believe peaple don't put these guys at the top of the list. they had everything. lyrics, bad ass guitar riffs, gutar solos, and phil lynott. one bad dude.

  • awesome...this was the essence of growing up outside of San Antonio Texas in the 70's!

  • @armadillosignshop San Antonio Rocks!!!!

  • @armadillosignshop Its Great that an irish man..a black one at that(very very rare at the time)...could do that...a true poet in every sense..We are so proud to call him one of our own. What a legend. They have a beautiful statue of him in Dublin..if you are ever over come check it out.

  • @armadillosignshop Yeah! Right on! Got here in San Antonio in 1979 when I joined the Air Force. Heard a blistering version of this song in a C&W bar off of Bandera Rd. Rock me to the bone and when home with the girl! Awwww yeah! Thanks Phil Lynott!

  • This is for one of the baddest mutha fuckin' Unkpapa Souix in the world.K.A.

  • I like this version!

  • Im trying to put up a vinly Cowboy song with huey lewis palying some Harmonica at the frist guitar solo live..

  • @Grumberf

    Cant wait to hear it!

  • The Renegade Album is why Iron Maiden/Judas Priest exist look at the Angel of death and Renegade, and yeah Thunder and Lightining was a good try but I think Lizzy was more for Rock and bluse (look at Vengasboys of the westernworld that is a very good album for bluse/rock. I wonder why we got Hip hop today who ruin the good old bluse and rock.)

  • @Grumberf

Yeah thats true on of Maidens biggest insperations sources is just Thin Lizzy. And i think its bad that Lizzy left the hard rock for metal.

  • @LarssaLarsson hard rock and metala re BOTh greta...i think it is a good thing..best of both worlds man.

  • @DrRocksotheClown

You said it! it can be any better.

  • @LarssaLarsson And **Rory Gallagher** was a big Insperasion on Iron Maiden and all metal bands that play today. Just look at Rory Gallaghers ending on Tatto'ed lady every band has coppied that since he made it live 1980.

  • @Grumberf Dude -- not for nothin, but learn how to spell before you post again and TL was never a metal band. The last album sounded harder cuz of Sykes playin on it, they were never metal.Metal is a way of life and a whole attitude.Rory G>? Blues till he died . so read a little ,or somethin to crack your silly noggin open, jeez i hate to be nasty.

  • @wacmac1 nono go on be nasty its music.

  • @wacmac1 I know But still look at Bullfrogs bluse how Rory End His songs thats how iron Maiden ends their songs for exapel look at Hallowed be thy name ends like Rorys Shin Kicker live 1979.. so dah I know Rory is a bluse musican and I know Im not best at English. P.s I dont care I lissen for fun

  • @TheDevilbound C'mon dude, Thin Lizzy played heavy metal, for sure. Check the 1981 album, Renegade.

When you're badass, you can rock on metal or on hard, and that's how it is for Thin Lizzy. I think you won't be disappointed ^^

  • @LarssaLarsson they did good metal too...its the best of both worlds...

  • they never you dick ,, its just rock and roll ,,

  • @Grumberf The Renegade is a great album, I am trying to find it on CD (i had it on tape)

  • @Siukkis If you want it, you can buy a coppy, i got it brund from Lp vinyl to a CD

  • @Grumberf I'm looking for the original CD, but thanks anyway.

  • @Grumberf...are you talking about music or somebody's shirt, the "bluse"? Oh you meant the blues...my bad. Yeah, you can't just change the spelling and expect everyone to just go along with it. Kind of looks like you did it on purpose you mispelled it 3 times...lol...love this song though

  • Wohow I Found my daddys Peel seasion LP I did brun it to Cd Now _:D!!! Lizzy Rocks I think Thin lizzy is the Life of me!

  • @Grumberf you are a lucky ome!

  • @LarssaLarsson Lucky one? all porple who have seen him live are lucky :I

  • @Grumberf

Sounds good to be i only have a crapy car audio so my stereeo i have is alot better.

  • @Grumberf

sounds good ! my car audio sucks so i have to use my stereo.

  • @LarssaLarsson yeah, But I still can't get how underated this band is ... They have made like over 50 songs that are top 10 even top 1

  • @Grumberf yeah i know, they did over 200 songs that has come out on vinyl, cds or singels.

  • @LarssaLarsson I think its cause people was in to more Heavy metal in the 80's and more pop In the 70's that must be why only few know this band but few who does are the luckyest in the world becouse we got taste of music :)

  • @Grumberf

yeah that true Lizzy made a try with the Thunder & lightning album witch become the best album the made under the 80s.

  • By far the best version of this song. Lyrics and music match perfectly. Truly one of the most classic songs of its era.

  • 9/10 of all cowboys were asian or black? what in thell are you talking about? Haven't you watched Blazing Saddles?Seriously though ,I would have to say that most cowboys were Mexican, European immigrants or some combination thereof. Yes there were and are some black cowboys but as far as a majority not even close.

  • I agree on that one. I have a hell of a time seeing asians herding cats on the praire

  • smokin tune

  • thin lizzy = top band of all time

  • Phil is black and from Ireland. Seems unlikey that he would sing about being a cowboy! But this kicks ass!

  • this song is amazing, i love the guitar solos, just epic. R.I.P Phil Lynott.

  • my favorite thin lizzy song!

  • Ah..when the Hendrix like intro goes over into that bass-riff....Epic, just epic..

  • Metallica and Lizzy are both fantastic. Just a bit different.

  • Btw My last comment with lots and lots of swearing in it was intended for lipoicacid

  • When you play this at like a good pub gig especially in the summer it's one of the greatest feelings ever, and it gets even better when you play free bird after it that gets everyone going

  • Great song. people relate to it. We are all Roy Rogers or Gene Autry or John Wayne inside.

  • jailbreak is such an amazing album!

i need to get the rest of there albums over the summer!

by the way any metallica and lizzy fans out there,

dosent it suck so much balls that avenged sevenfold are on before metallica in marley park instead of lizzy,

a bunch of fucking emo bitches are considered more important than rock legends....

i so wished they had done whiskey in the jar together,

  • Metallica BLOWS compared to Thin Lizzy

  • What does "BLOWS" mean? Good or bad?

  • Fuck you cocksucker if you don't like it why don't you just fuck off man everyone else likes it here why be such a fucking downer and piss us all off fuckin prick

  • lovro asked what ''blows'' means.i merely told him what it means.ive been listening to metallica and thin lizzy since 1987.i wont bother waiting for an apology.you have a nice now.ya hear? =]

  • If I were stuck on a desert island, all I would want with me is an iPod with Thin Lizzy, Bob Dylan, and Led Zeppelin, in that order. I could listen to Phil Lynott's amazing singing voice all day long.

    Actually, sometimes I do =p

  • spend some time in prison fella love it even more, no the score
