According to this report, another reason to shut it down is because Texas refineries will "Profit" from reselling diesel fuel to Europe according to this report from Al Jazzerra. Well we certainly don't want America to make a profit and we certainly don't want to be able to supply Europe.
No that's for the Arabs .. Arabs like Al Jazzera the same ones that beat women for getting raped and treat women like a house pet that won't listen with brutal punishment for'disobedience". The advantage of the ‘Tarsands” is that they are surface oil, no drilling, no Gulf of Mexico. The fear is environmental destruction. After construction the lands are reclaimed
It‘s a massive version of your gas pipelines sent to your cities and homes. Maybe it's just me, but the hypocrisy in this video is about as blatant as it gets. Modern pipelines detect a breach immediately and transfer stations can immediately stop the flows. There are already pipelines al over North America. Listen to the Arabs if you think they have the answers and just keep transferring you wealth abroad .That’s your business. We’ll just sell it to China.
Leave it to the people of the US to bow down to the all mighty king's final say! We have finally reached the point where states are no longer sovereign. Money money money!! Why not for one second can ppl stop being so concerned on the size of their fucking wallet! Trans Canada hired their own ppl to do what their claiming was a "environmental inspection" when in all reality it was one of the many blind folds placed over our eyes to hide the truth. You would think that after the oil spill of the Gulf of New Mexico, instead of learning from our mistakes we create new ones such as this pipeline desecrating the beautiful mountains, forests, and w
this president has proven ONCE again that he's not serious about doing anything, especially job creation. ALl this adminstration has EVER wanted to do was impose their socialist class warfare agenda against the wealthy and was never interested in creating any meaningful jobs. The only "environment" they were concerned about was the the votes they'd lose with the tree hugging wacko community. I hope the rest of America votes against this adminstration in November because they are not serious.
Isn't it strange how we'll not drill for oil in this country and set-up nuclear powers plants (as obama promised during his campaign) to take care of our needs, yet politicians have every excuse in the world to involve us with dangerous middle-eastern saps? This serves as another reason why we need to take a sludge hammer to this antiquated political system that permits these danger fools to lead us into h*ll and replace them with home computers to carryout the will of the people!
The US has to get oil from somewhere, and Canada has to sell it. You have no choice, but to accept. It would help lower oil prices, if Canada increases supply. It will help keep Alberta Tax free, and full of social serves like free healthcare. Thank you US, all that money makes Canada a great county to live in.
This pipeline will finish no matter, billions are dollars are funded by corporations and the only reason why Obama delay this is because of re-election.
Let me get this straight. Al Jazeera, which is based in the oil-rich region of Qatar, appears to be quite hostile to Canadian oil-sands development (from the one-sided parade of "experts" to plain language: Al Jazeera's reporter chooses to use the obsolete and misleading "tar sands" label for what are actually "oil sands"). But let Americans balk at this chance at their peril. The oil sands will be developed. Canada has the money; a local refinery would be built, and a Pacific port will serve us
$16 billion a year in Canadian government revenue to be made and $3 trillion into the Canadian economy over the next 15 years, if the US doesn't want it TransCanada will simply pursue the plethora of opportunities in China while you'll continue to fund Iran.

Energy security and national security? We r sick of the games. How many things do we need from a technology standpoint. These environmental groups are ridiculous. If they would actually vote Obama into office again if he stopped this pipeline, they are idiots. They obviously have no problem with the destruction of the dollar, corporatism, the Fed, the wars, losing civil liberties, government ignoring the constitution with pretty much every bill, et cetera.
All of those tree hugging and hyper hippie environmental extremists protesters need to mind their business. These freaks are also the same freaks that support the "Occupy" movement, and must be dismissed as mere scabs on society.
Build the pipeline and bury the protesters in it's path.
@BBP081 Only when you make it so. Obama's trying to balance appeasing big business with the people. As president, he should realize that the people come first. Then it won't be so difficult for him.
I live in Calgary and know a lot of people on the business end of oil sands production, and they all want this pipeline. Yes Alberta does not have many refineries and ships oil down to the States instead, but this is actually the most economically viable option. If you were to look at a map of oil sands related pipelines, you would see that not only are there already many pipelines that nobody is complaining about, but this plan has been in the works for years.
@TheSage555 Costs bout $1 Billion to build. Then you have the permitting ect.... No new refineries built in the states since the 70's. I agree tho, prefer us to refine and keep the oil ourselves. We have been selling oil to the states for years at a big discount. $1,35/L where i live
Wow, a news report that shows that there are two reasonable sides to a complicated issue without hyperbole or bias. I knew there was a reason I subscribed to this channel. Great work guys.
extremists don't just hate the US, it is getting to the point the whole world thinking clearly should hate the foreign politicies of that imperialistic, war mongering nation.
America could also stop being the oil-glutton of the world, and instead invest in public transportation and much-more fuel efficient cars.....The construction industry would back building a pipeline that dumped nuclear waste into this country if it meant construction jobs.....Bet your last dollar that the corporate-owned U.S. government will be behind this pipeline, they take their orders from their corporate masters.
The environmental groups are a bunch of loosers who should mind their own business. The only downside I have with this pipeline is that I don't think Canada is getting the best bang for the buck from it. Canada should build its own refinery and ship the finished product through the pipeline. That creates more jobs at home. We don't need Texas for anything.
I thought it was a good idea until they said about it being shipped from Texas to Europe. I guess the U.S. will continue killing people in the middle east for oil instead of just getting it here. Obama is just another Bush.
@petefentonp fuck that shit; whats pissing us of is Americans stealing our oil. We are destroying our environment we might as well make the most profit from it.
I'm a Canadian and I don't really want that pipeline built either. If we're mining the resource we should be refining it ourselves. Building that pipeline is a stupid move economically for us.
@IndulgingExistence Too late, it`s all finished on our end(canada) I worked that line 4 years ago, and it`s been completed for a while now. Guaranteed that it`s going to go through, those oil companies don`t invest that heavy unless they know they are going to get a return, this is just a show, negotiating with unions state side thats all. Having it sit there empty creates a lot of problems though.
@IndulgingExistence Yes. We should also look at our transportation in Canada being diesel engines to make the most of the fuel grade that is most easily refined from the oil sands.
Man, thats not true. The oil sands are still being developed all by themselves, and building additional refineries to support it would be a HUGE investment when there already are many refineries south of the border. To the point where it is simply economically sound to export the raw oil down to the states. If you were to look at a map of all the pipelines, you would see a web of lines sprawling from Ft Mac, all going to the States.
@DvineGaming It's unlikely to happen because Uranium is plentiful and less costly to make use of in Canada. Energy should be about sustainable environment but it is all about money and I don't see the profiteers changing their minds anytime soon.
@rollsthepaul people who say "do some investigation" or "do your own research" have no idea what they are talking about.... BUT, I actually happen to know what I'm talking about, and this is the most stupid thing I've heard in a very long time. Tell me about these "huge tracks of land" that are being polluted by the tar sands operations... if you can that is.
they want to build a pipeline to dodge taxes? could they really save that much to cover the cost of the pipelline? If so, good job gov't on protecting the people your supposed to serve. That pipeline will leak or break in the future and poison the aquifer. Have there ever been oil pipelines that didn't leak or break? end of discussion
How does "American Energy Independence" (presumably from Middle East oil) equate to establishing secure supplies of CANADIAN oil ? Besides, the USA should exploit (and deplete) their own oil reserves in Alaska first instead of looking to use up everybody else's oil reserves first and saving their own for last!!!!!
@anthonymaw Well actually, from a strategic standpoint, they shouldn't. You should use up their supplies of oil first and save your own. Then when others have been depleted, you still have oil for yourselves
Anybody who supports Obomber is a warmonger who has blood on his hands. Bleating about the environment is hypocritical; how much good do you think the imperial wars have done to the environments of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, et cetera?
The environ-mental cases are liars at best.
Btw, anyone serious about the problem would be advocating thermal and tidal energy -- but Obama's masters own both the oil companies and the environuts, so don't hold your breath.
Idk about you but when I hear that the water for 6 states, the people and their crop, that feeds everyone in this country, is in danger of contamination I don't care what your argument is, nothing can justify the safety of the people in this country for a few mounths of work and a few drops of oil. And to claim otherwise is ignerant and inhumain. If you want to doom us all for someting we won't even see a single benifit from than go ahead. The deaths of 200 million is on your hands, live w/ that
@CloudN9ne2010 Google pipelines in the united states and see the maps. This isnt a new idea. Oil will either go to help power the states or pipeline will go west to ports to sell to china. Will be sold either way
The US should give up on their damn oil and start working on actual alternative viable energies. I m quite sure they have something already available but the lobbies won't let it out until the last drop of oil has been sucked dry from the Amazonian forest. $
Canadians are so stupid. Instead of building refineries here, refining the tar sands, and selling the processed oil products.. we ship the raw materials to the US at below cost prices and buy it back at inflated prices.
The problem is they claim it won't be in contact with water, but some of the farms they want to put it on 2 inches down you hit water. If it does seep into the water it will ruin water for 6 states. All they have to do is move it next to the old one that bypasses aquapher but they refuse. As to why they refuse idk they have yet to give any reasoning behind it. Hell it would even make it cheaper to make if they did.
Saudi Arabia has had the same reserves ging back 20 years.. from the same wells.. that have pumped out almost 10 million barrels a day, once again for the last 20 years and their reserve numbers have not changed.. in other words they still have the same ammount on paper that they started with.
Wake Up!! search "Jeff Rubin" here in You Tube and educate yourself!
Water for millions - When the water is un-safe to drink where will the people go? Most places in the US struggle for water supplies.
When the question of basic needs being taken away, over something that is only short term weatth for part of the 99% and still short time in any benefits justifiable?
When the tar snads are gone, the water will still be un-safe for hundreds of years...
Nothing can save America... Either way things ARE going to change.
According to this report, another reason to shut it down is because Texas refineries will "Profit" from reselling diesel fuel to Europe according to this report from Al Jazzerra. Well we certainly don't want America to make a profit and we certainly don't want to be able to supply Europe.

Nonsense. Obama is more of a threat than any oil sands. Oh Yah folks he is lying again.

I thought making oil from tar sand was expensive and inefficient.
AccordingtoWes 4 months ago 17
@AccordingtoWes It is but it makes a fuck tonne of money. That is why they do it. Canada needs to be a pioneer of Thorium energy.
DvineGaming 4 months ago
@DvineGaming It's unlikely to happen because Uranium is plentiful and less costly to make use of in Canada. Energy should be about sustainable environment but it is all about money and I don't see the profiteers changing their minds anytime soon.
MsColdCanada 4 months ago
@AccordingtoWes LOL. It so it, but the market has reached the point where it will pay for how expensive it is.
MihaiBorcan 4 months ago
@AccordingtoWes Obviously not expensive enough.

@AccordingtoWes The tarsands pollutes huge tracks of land permanently and also pollutes air with much CO2. It is sad that this is being done.

@rollsthepaul bullshit

@MegaHouseGuy The tarsands are as bad as I say. Do some investigation.
rollsthepaul 3 months ago

Besides, the USA should exploit (and deplete) their own oil reserves in Alaska first instead of looking to use up everybody else's oil reserves first and saving their own for last!!!!!
anthonymaw 4 months ago
@anthonymaw Well actually, from a strategic standpoint, they shouldn't. You should use up their supplies of oil first and save your own. Then when others have been depleted, you still have oil for yourselves
TheRetiredtrucker 3 months ago
Yes, because that's exactly what we need. More oil.
Icix1 4 months ago
This is all bull Shit , there's other technologies out there for energy , but not as much money and control involved

The deaths of 200 million is on your hands, live w/ that
CloudN9ne2010 4 months ago
@CloudN9ne2010 Google pipelines in the united states and see the maps. This isnt a new idea. Oil will either go to help power the states or pipeline will go west to ports to sell to china. Will be sold either way
TheRetiredtrucker 3 months ago
The US should give up on their damn oil and start working on actual alternative viable energies. I m quite sure they have something already available but the lobbies won't let it out until the last drop of oil has been sucked dry from the Amazonian forest. $

00:25 The aquifer down there is already stressed. Not many years before the Southern USA would rather pipe water through that thing than oil.
popesnose 4 months ago
Canadians are so stupid. Instead of building refineries here, refining the tar sands, and selling the processed oil products.. we ship the raw materials to the US at below cost prices and buy it back at inflated prices.
JogBird 4 months ago
@JogBird "We" aren't doing that; it's the American-owned politicians in Ottawa.
KaptKan1 4 months ago
The problem is they claim it won't be in contact with water, but some of the farms they want to put it on 2 inches down you hit water. If it does seep into the water it will ruin water for 6 states. All they have to do is move it next to the old one that bypasses aquapher but they refuse. As to why they refuse idk they have yet to give any reasoning behind it. Hell it would even make it cheaper to make if they did.

Lite Sweet Crude / Conventional Oil has peaked.
Affordable Oil has Peaked.
Brent verse West Texas Prices is? 50% higher..
Saudi Arabia has had the same reserves ging back 20 years.. from the same wells.. that have pumped out almost 10 million barrels a day, once again for the last 20 years and their reserve numbers have not changed.. in other words they still have the same ammount on paper that they started with.
