@uhartchristian You are horrible wrong.... I think I heard he was not very well prepared for this competition. Just mentioning this, doesn't matter that much. What i want to say is that you can't judge him by just this piece. Pogorelich is a genius whether you like it or not, a true genius.
In my opinion, even though this performance is technically really strong, is a bit un-chopin like. I think it's a bit too harsh and intimidating. too student-like for me and not a competition-winning playing. that said, am a big fun of Pogorelic's...
i'd rather listen to a version like this, where even though it's got mistakes there's still an emotional fire going underneath it all, than a note-perfect version that's too robotic, and that the player just doesn't feel at all. when you listen to pogo's playing you can feel the music flowing through his entire being.
everyone's opinion is ok if sincere. Mine is that there is here such a commitment to the work, with an intense purpose to serve the music ! that leads to a tremendous performance. I'm personaly moved by this vison and immense means to serve it.
Hehe... Unbelievable that he played with so much passion during a competition. He made lots of mistakes, but this interpretation is unique, incredibly intense and strong!
his playing really a "storm", as the real name of this prelude

I like his later recording better (v=71oCexIXk9Q). This one is aggressive at the end. rather than passionate.
