Oblivion @ Alton Towers - Holding Problem

i went on it twice in a row, the different drop times are at random, the computer could pick between 1 and 7 seconds hold.

I think it depends on what train you are on in the cycle. The first train out of the two does the short stop as not to keep the second train waiting. The second train does the long stop.

Reason Being why it didn't hold you for long enough is all to do with how busy the ride is, certain reason are to do with Block Sections, if another train is approaching the the lift hill whiles you are at the top they wont hold you for as long, i have once ridden the ride and we never stopped at all just straight over which was awesome because never done that before lol,

this is also due to peak times if the ruide and park are busy it won't be held as long

i went on this 4 times in a row...aech time it held for about 3 seconds....on the forth time it broke down at the end

so riders cant guess even thugh its on a 4 way cycle

This is not a problem, Alton Towers do this when the park is in peak hours (when the park is most full) and doing this saves on average 1hr20mins per day.

its cause the que may have been long and they might have wanted to hurry each ride.. it happened when i went twice a few weeks ago

the hold time can not be changed its only diffrenct because of the plc reading the shuttle at the end of the drop convaore dont know why it does it but it does

The reason it dose this is eaither the holding time is 0 - 1 -2 - 3 seconds but they put it at any time under 3 so it gives the ride more fear.

people always (without realizing) start counting at 1 which adds one second. And the adrenaline would probably make you count 1/5 to 1/4 faster. P.S. love the new seating angle - makes it feel even more weird than before :)

yes, you are tilted further back so you are almost horizontal during the climb and more up-right during the drop. The body is more sensitive to vertical Gs, giving an even more thrilling ride!
