  • very cool chicken coop!

  • what breed of chicken is that?

  • your like a chick en magnet!

  • way to many chickens in that trailor, and where is the grass for free ranging?? I say you need to thin the heard to about 50 for the camper and thats it.

  • @hakunamakarla You know--I just love criticism from youtube trolls who 1) have never uploaded ORIGINAL content of their own, 2) have never really experimented with something new (like attempting a medium scale free-range operation) and 3) trolls like you, yes-YOU--who don't take all things into consideration before opening their ******* mouth like-the video is 3 years old, there were modifications to the enclosure and coop that you don't know about, and I made EVERY EFFORT to take care of them

  • very cool-

  • thats alot of chickens you must get hundreds of eggs a week

  • hi all i had a question i had bought 4 chickens and i wonder what can i build to make them more happy ? i mean a pool or a bridge or a underground tunnel will they had funn ? i want make for them what is disneyland for humans :) so please tell me any ideas...... <3 <3 <3 <3

  • how many are there like 50?

  • ..how much feed does that amount of birds require? Awesome use of a camper! great video!

  • cool! that is yours? living in van? wtf?!?

  • very nice I wish had some from you

  • Friday the 18th, 19th of what month bro?

  • Marvelous!

  • do you ever have any trouble with them jumping the fence? i wanna build a yard and dont know whether to close the yard in?

  • my future goal is to have a little chicken raising just like this.

  • Chickens love to eat grass. You could rotate them on pasture to keep them on clean ground. Cuts down on the feed bil, too l. I feed mine greens in winter, when snow covers the grass..

  • How many in total ? Beautiful Chicks mate.

  • must be the best way to stop foxes getting to your hens also

  • Wow, that's a lot of chickens! lol Very creative idea, with the converted camper! =)

  • I have chickens and my favorite is Goober =) she is the world's best chicken and i wish i could get as many as you but theres no way haha =P

  • i watch this just after watching a video on chicken cruelty you have just proved that all it takes is a little more time patience effort and imagination to make the lifes of chickens better i dont understand how those oful??(sorry not good at spelling) workers in the kfc slaughter house could be so cruel after watching this video you can see in this video just have content these hens are

  • When i move back to the country i want to have some chickens but that is far more than i would need. I don't need that many eggs.

  • That is a lot of chickens lol.

  • I wonder how long they have been up for, they fly out as if to say "what time do you call this!". Thats why Im not getting anymore chickens as the early mornings do me in.

  • I would love to see a video of inside the camper after you were done, I seen the video of when you gutted it but I would like to see whta its like inside there now. :D

  • lol "all I see is chickens"

  • how many chickens do you have?

  • how much of those Chickens do you have?!

  • good idea and great pen. i have 4 chicks and 2 ducks. they have been doing good and now all of a sudden one pecks at the vents of the other chicks til they bleed and the eyes of the ducks. she is removed from the rest now but now what? the others all together are fine but as soon as i put her back she immediately pecks at the eyes and vents. should she take a trip back to the feed store? i need some advice. thanks

  • That's a lot of reds!

  • Thanks for taking SUCH good care of all your girls! I love the happy sounds they're making. Next year, my partner and I plan to have 2 hens for our backyard in Seattle, WA.

  • @NancyJerominski Thats good, if you treat them right, and keep them warm they'll lay even in the winter.

  • I think it would be cool to use a few 57 Chevys!

  • I posted this video on facebook and made so many people happy and myself to see this freedom to chickens great life :-)

  • @vahdaneh --that's cool

  • I have 17 baby chickens that are over 4 weeks old when could i put them with the biger chickens and if my chickens are raised in a coop could i put them in a yard like this mans with a fence around

  • @starwars55100--when the chicks become pullets, maybe somewhere around 15-17 weeks old. Don't put them together too soon, or they'll just get picked on by the bigger birds.

  • @accountabilabuddy1 thanks for the info... and are those all road iland red chickens

  • can i ask you why you keep them indoors too?

  • @vahdaneh--because there are nocturnal predators around here.

  • That camper must smell good, lol, I love it.

  • @phantomcharger--smells like.......chicken

  • @accountabilabuddy1

That has to be one of the best uses for an old camper Ive ever seen, you have it together big time

    -It has insulation

-Its white to reflect the sun in the summer,

-has window for light and air.

-Cheaper then the supplies would have been alone to build a coop half that size

    -You can move it easy

-Its off the ground =less moisture

The list could go on and on

    great video man

  • @phantomcharger--I bought a frame kit to do a large shed with, but realized that I might also need a building permit--that's another reason to go with the camper coop. yes, all of those reasons that you mentioned and more. My favorite part was the built in storage/feed room, which is the camper's bathroom and shower. It has a door to keep the chickens out, and serves as temporary storage of collected eggs.

  • @accountabilabuddy1

Genius, no building permit, youre my hero, lol

  • 129 chickens.. How much profit you can make etc. per month, with those chickens?

  • @TheZmikey--"profit" lol, not much profit, but a priceless lesson in management for my son.

  • 129 chickens.. How much profit you can make etc. per month, with those chickens?

  • @TheZmikey--again, not much--especially after people stole my eggs from my stand on a regular basis.

  • LOL!! I love this!! But where are the roosters? ;)

  • Never needed any roosters.

  • nice coop how many chickens do u have in there?

  • @0711rk--there were over 100 at the time

  • nice coop how chickens do u have in there

  • I think there was about 125 at the time.

  • actually they are red sex links

  • Wow that's so cool. So many chickens. Are they Rhode Island Reds? I'm curious what it looks like in the trailer.

  • Yes they're a rhode island red hybrid. The trailer interior construction is shown in my other videos.

  • What is the trick to getting them back inside the camper? Do you just let them out in the run all day even if you have leave during the day . I have a few chickens and I had to put a chicken wire roof on their run because the hawks. Do you have trouble with hawks???? please reply...I need to know! Thanks......Rick.

  • Their roosting instinct makes them want to go back inside by themselves at dusk. They don't need any help with this. I guess hawks can be a problem, I've probably lost a few birds to hawks, but there is shelter under the coop that the birds all use when something is up in the air flying above like hawks do. I leave them out all day--every day, rain, snow, or any weather. That's free-range for real.

  • That is awesome! I want to do it that way!

How come they don't just fly over the fence? Is that a 4' fence? That is the best chicken foty on you tube!!! haha thanks.....Rick.

  • Most of them have been "zapped" by the fence once or twice, the ones that haven't been, have seen the other birds, and have taken their word for it--if you know what I mean. the fence is not quite 4 feet high, probably 40 inches is more like it. They recognize that the fence provides security for them, and they don't really have any inclination to jump over it. Thank you.

  • they should go back at the end of the day to roost, just close the door b4 dark and they should all be in there

  • yep, that's how it happens.

  • Man, that's a lot of chickens! send some my way!

  • its like an army! because at 1:50 it sounded like 'Go Go Go' soo cute

  • are they meat chickens???

  • No, but they're soup chickens now.

  • The shell of a camper is a great idea for a chicken house! Just throw some nesting boxes and some roosts in and youre done! Its also insulated! I love that idea! Great video! When you going to get some roosters? LOL?!

  • lol i think the chickens have a bettter life then me lol

  • @salvadoreannika lol thats funny

  • The poop goes in a compost pile after it is collected from inside the coop. It is cleaned up with a shovel and rake.

We have about 100 now. Yes, this is America--you can have chickens here.

  • That looks like the subway in Tokyo during rush hour!!

  • That is the nicest chicken shack I have ever seen!

  • thank you--they like it too.

  • How many chicken did you fit into that camper?

  • Started with 131 17 week-old pullets. Sold some off a little at a time, lost a few to predators and illness, now at about 100.

  • Haha, I love how they started chanting at you when you approached ;)

  • Loved your video. Im in the process of building 8x8 coop. I wanted to know about your electric fence. Im looking at getting one but my question is dont they just fly over the fence?

  • A few will do that, but only if they're really curious, and anti-social. By anti-social I mean that they don't feel the need to flock with the other birds. Also, the area on the outside has to appear more interesting than the area on the inside to make them want to do it. After they get "sparked" a couple of times they'll lose interest in jumping over the fence eventually. None of my birds do it any more.

  • what do you do with all the chicken crap (says with a serious face)

  • Clean it up with a shovel, and spread it on a compost pile.

  • you said you get your pullets from moyers, do you pick them up or do you have them shipped to you, i bought pullets before from meyers , it cost alot for shipping, plus selling to the public do i need any permits that you know of, thanks for getting back to me before, oh when do we get to see your new videos.

  • I picked them up. I have a Suburban that I'm able to carry 10 crates inside. 15 pullets to a crate (when I bought them). I can't say if you need permits in NY, ask someone local in a 4H club. I should make some new chicken videos soon. Subscribe, and thanks again.

  • How do you like the electric fencing? I am thinking of getting one myself. Is yours electric or battery operated? Where are you located? Do your chickens stay in the camper all winter long? Where do you sell your eggs? Where do you buy your pullets from? Thanks from Upstate New York.

  • The electric fence is good. It does work on both sides--keeping them in, and menaces out. My fence is battery operated, 12v deep cycle. I'm in Hunterdon county, NJ. The chickens sleep in the camper all year long, they're also allowed out all year long during the daytime. I sell my eggs here at my farm, and certain business buy more than a couple dozen a week. The pullets came from Moyer's near Quakertown, PA. Thank you for the interest.

  • omg, it would be so great for you to make a video of the chickens going in at night. i have 15 bantam chicks that are two weeks old, and 4 road island red chicks that are 3 weeks old, and i really want them to free range around my horse farm, but i am scared crap less about them staying out all night. im 15 and i go to private school, so i sleep there during school nights and i cant come home to take care of them, so mom is going to do it. i just want to see how they go in and stuff. thnx lots

  • They go right up the ramp and back into the coop. They like to take their time. There are birds that are always first, and there are birds that are always last. Like going to the movies--get there early, and you get the best seat. The time that they go in is regulated by sunset and available light. They're going in earlier now than they were at the beginning of summer. thanks and good luck

  • How do u get all those chickens back inside to close it up? Is it a chicken chase? lol...also, isnt that a job cleaning the inside of that place..like the floor?

  • The first night I had them I thought I'd have to round them up to get them back in, and it was a chicken chase. Then I discovered that if I let them take their time--they'll just go back in on their own. That's what works. Yes, cleaning isn't easy, but it has to be done.

  • Wow 129 chickens... That's alot, so you get about 10 dozen eggs a day? Does that actually cover the cost of the feed? I just can't imagine the noise of 129 chickens in my backyard... I have 6 and my neighbors are ok. I think they's kill me if I had 129.

I hope you bring your neighbors fresh eggs once in a while.

  • I'm getting fewer eggs now, but I have fewer chickens also. I've discovered more economical ways to feed them, and yes--they produce enough in egg sales to feed themselves and have a little allowance for my son.

I gave all of my neighbors a free dozen when the birds first started laying. Nobody can hear them because we have enough property, and nobody lives that close.

  • Why don't you make a wider ramp that folds up into the inside of the door (hinged at the bottom) and then folds down for the daytime?

  • The system works like I have it now. There's a screen door inside the front door also, which is attatched to the main door. this would make the design of a folding ramp complicated. Also the main door closes flush against the edge of the trailer, and there's a lip at the bottom edge of the door. Humans enter the coop by stepping up on the original trailer steps, but only half the width of the door. The ramp is only for the chickens, it really isn't sturdy enough for people to use.

  • do you have nest in there or just open

  • There are galvanized nest boxes (12) at the rear of the coop, and 6 more cabinet spaces that were converted into boxes in the middle of the coop.

  • beautiful chickens.. why you dont have interior video.. i was interested to see from inside how nest are built.. or is it one room

  • I posted videos on how the coop was built showing the inside. See my other videos for construction details.

  • beautiful just beautiful birds.. why you dont have any interior videos .. i was interested to see how the nest is built in there.. or is it just a open space for all.

  • They can move from front to back if they want to. The "doorway" that was used to separate the bedroom (rear) from the middle (kitchen) when the camper was a camper is no longer there. Some birds choose to nest, eat and sleep in the front while others are content to be towards the rear of the coop. They use the coop for laying eggs, and sleeping in. Most of time they are outside anyway.

  • im gettin a gutted moble home. how many chicks u think i can fit nicely. an do u sell you eggs in a carton? thanks 4 any help

  • Depends--do you plan on letting them out like I do? I know of someone with 300 in a mobile home. Make sure you have plenty of perch space, and nest boxes--keep those areas separate if you can. Yes I sell eggs in cartons.

  • thanks. ware an how much do cartons cost?

  • @daytimejon--somewhere around 25 cents each for the type that I use

  • How much do you get for each dozen you sell?

  • Usually $3.00 a dozen, but I offer a slight discount on multiple purchases. Thank you for your interest :)

  • Bloomin loads of them....they just keep coming

  • Hey buddy, i just got 6 rhode island red pullets they a few months old now, how old were yours roughly when they started laying?

  • I bought mine at 17weeks old pullets "ready to lay". They really got into it around 20-21 weeks though. Hope that helps.

  • that is the coolest Redneck thing I've ever seen.

  • @walls0stone--I prefer the term "coolest recycled" thing ...

  • I could really get my own back on my neighbours with all these chickens in my tiny garden in London lol!!!

  • They are noisy--and they get loud once they see me coming with food.

  • i'd love to have that much chickens

  • A ruster willgo BANANAS in your coop

    great video thanks for sharing...

wheater looks great for your chickens

what state are you from? keep up the good work:)

  • neat.

  • oh what breed of chicken do you have? i'm getting Shaver red sex-links

  • O..M..G

    "All I See Is Chickens"

    lOl..Ox

  • and what breed are they?

  • They're a hybrid of leghorn and Rhode Island Red. They're known as "dual-purpose" birds, but the truth is that they lay eggs better than they provide meat. They aren't very meaty birds at all.

  • how many chickens do you have???

  • At this point I think I have about between 110-115.

  • do you sell the eggs locally?

  • Yes. We sure can't eat them all.

  • YAY chickens

  • omg! thats a really good idea...

  • My 2 and a half year old LOVES your chicken video. He talks about the "chickens in the truck" and watches over and over. Thanks for a simple pleasure.

  • I'm happy he enjoys it. Kids of all ages really love it in person too!

  • how do they all fit in that camper?

  • There's room. The all have a place to perch and lay eggs. They do like it outside better though.

  • Hi uh do you keep all the eggs or do you let some hatch to get more chicken later?

  • I don't have any roosters, so there's no possibility of fertilized eggs for hatching. I was thinking about getting a rooster on loan, but then I'd have to build an area for him and his girls. Baby chicks eat a different food, so they'd have to be kept someplace else too. Too much work, so I'd just buy 17wk old pullets again if I need to.

  • Do you keep all the eggs or do you let some hatch to get more chickens later?

  • thats a shit load of chickens

  • hi great vid, are you using comercial feeds for these hens? They look big and robust.

  • Purina Layen pellet, local cracked corn, garden vegetables, select table scraps, and massive pumpkins. They love tomato based salsa on their food too. Anything that gets thrown in will be eaten in a matter of seconds--they won't leave any trace of it.

  • how manny hens do you have?

    they look like redstars.

  • Around 110-115 hens. They're a RI Red hybrid, thank you.

  • How often do you move the trailer??? It appears you have lots of room. Their eggs would taste better with some grass in them.. wink wink... Do you have a video of the inside of the coop?

  • I just bought another length of electric fence, and effectively doubled the size of the enclosure. The fence is comprised of 2 lengths 164ft each 328ft total any shape I want. They're on more grass, and a diet of massive pumpkins in addition to their regular meals. They really go crazy for any type of vine vegetable like pumpkins, squash, etc..No new videos, and none of the interior. Check out my other videos for a slideshow on the construction of the coop for pics of the interior. Thanks--Paul

  • hey how do you get them in the camper

  • Funny thing---they go back in by themselves at the end of the day. Sometimes a couple stay outside, but not very often.

  • that alot of chickens

  • I just converted a small dog pen and dog house to a coop, and I have nine speckled sussex! I love your coop, is it hard to clean? I'd love to see the inside!

  • It can be hard to clean, but I'm working on some design improvements to make cleaning easier.

  • Wow, how are those improvement coming for the easier cleaning? I'll bet you have to clean a lot. I have 3 Camper trailers to trash, Ummm Might show hubby this video

  • Yes to make it easier to clean, and to make the birds recognize 2 very different areas.

This is one of the easiest things to do, and most cost effective chicken coops to make. You wouldn't believe the scrap value in the copper wire, and pipes that I recycled either--paid for most of the new plywood that was needed.

  • Holy smokes! That has to be the most unique chicken coop we've ever seen...and we've seen a lot :)

  • Don't stroke your bird!

  • Why shouldn't he pet his bird?

  • I wish everyone could keep their own chickens, or if not, I wish all chickens were free-range. I have friends who live in France and keep their own chickens for both eggs and meat (someone else does the deed), but their hens are clearly happy and healthy. You have my utmost respect for taking care of these birds in a world where so many are rammed into cages in factories.

  • Thanks for the kind words.

  • Whoa how many are there!

  • 129 at the time, but I sold three since--so only 126 now. Thanks.

  • How many dozen do you get a day?

  • More than 9 dozen marketable eggs per day. Thanks!

  • Chickens!

  • Yes. That's what they're called.

  • Very funny

  • Not as funny as you E.
