  • Nice spelling "young cudda" I can see you are completely uneducated....

  • Gary's plight is a result of many factors, but the chief cause is the Great Society welfare state that institutionalized dependency and illegitimacy. In 1950, black illegitimacy was actually lower than white illegitimacy, but by 1970 it was on a steep rise. Now, it excceeds 75% in many urban environments. As black economist Walter Williams has pointed out, the modern welfare state has done more to destroy the black family than centuries of slavery. Thanks, Democrats.

  • if pople can live in this kind of enviroment without wish to change or clean or to improve, by my opinion, that means that their spirit is broken , so they need something to push them, give them hope and reaason for life and reason to make it better. i hope that they gonna find it .

  • 219 BORN N RAISED...I MADE IT OUT THE HOOD WHEN I WAS 15...BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET WHERE I CAME FROM...SAD TO SEE EDISON SCHOOL ON THIS VIDEO LIKE THAT.I WENT TO EDISON,LIVED RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. AND I USE TO EAT AT THE LURE..MAN THOSE WERE THE DAYS.

  • do you really think the city went down cause blacks moved in? think about when the white man decided to make it ok to move contracts to other countries? then ask yourself why do we lose our business its all about making the most money the fastest possible way even if we lose our nation to other countries. i grew up in Gary both sides poor and rich it was a hard life but being in the white areas was harder. anyone can say what they please but in reality blacks/mexicans didnt make the factories.

  • YO GARY IND.IS KNOWN"TODAY"FOR BEING THE MURDER CAPITAL.BUT BACK IN THE DAY IT WAS ONCE KNOWN FOR BEING ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES TO VISIT IN AMERICA.

  • Thank you Indiana for Michael Jackson, the greatest artist of all times

    1958 - forever

    Greetings from Argentina

  • The latest population figures, released this week, show that Gary's population has fallen to 80,000. The mayor, of course, is in desperate denial, claiming that there are a LOT more people in the city than that.

I can't believe that he believes that.

  • This has nothing to do with race. There are many towns in the south that actually look worse and there were all white. It's about the end of an era in American history. It's about the collapse of industry and a whole community is left to die-out on its own. This country is in trouble, and there will be a lot more "Garys" before it's all over.

  • @Trolleymoose good thing we are talking about Gary and not those towns...this is what happened gary, get over it

  • @Uber3DO fuk yu u aint frm da city so u have no fuk idea wat we go threw..

  • Hello all! Does anyone have any pictures of the Holy Angels School the one next to the Holy Angels Cathedral Church located on Tyler and Polk? Would appreciate the pictures or any latest news of that spot location. Thanks.

  • i agree wth you uber. im from dyer, which is not far at all from gary. i live on the border of lynwood illinois and the difference from dyer to lynwood is huge. because of the blacks.

  • Another beautifull town ruined bu useless Schvatsas and mexicans.

  • @koolbossjock

no if you want to point the finger blame black people moving into the area...white man got scared...took refuge to white flight towns Schererville Crown Point and St. John cause a decreased in reliable workers and collapse of the steel industry, with out a strong authoritarian force in the city gangs took over...and what the largest of the minorities associated with organized crime...? African Americans...sad facts

  • @Uber3DO

That's compleltely warped man. That's not what happened. And theres a reason AA are largely associated with crime. It's called oppression

  • @Uber3DO I am not racist but you are probably right. Sometimes the truth hurts...

  • gary my home town look so sad

  • OMG it almost looks like a ghosttown...

  • Pause at 1:43 Thats Hayes st! My house is right there in front of the vanilla mini thingy :P

  • ty. my mom went to edison school (before it was a middle school) class of '66. so many mixed emotions. its just heartbreaking to see.

  • Gary Is a medium sized city and the area that I live is beautiful. No one likes to cover that. Maybe I will soon.

  • Do you live in Gary? I have to say, Gary, Indiana, is one of the scariest town's I've ever been to.

  • I don't think it's so bad. It's just "economically depressed". Besides, it's no longer the nation's murder capitol.
