  • well only for a few weeks? shaolin monks train horse stance 8 hours a day, no days free.. what they should say about their nervous system :p

  • @drago717 That shows two things: #1 The power of legends, 8 hours a day is impossible on a monks schedule, they had studies, duties ceremonies, religious obligations, cooking, cleaning etc. Nobody ever did stance training for 8hrs, everyday, ever. #2 They did hold stances every day, but built up gradually, and holding stances uses the same resistance everyday, not 100% of your leg strength. So some isometrics, and isotonics can be done regularly. MAX efforts can't be done Everyday.

  • i just broke my wrist and cant lift weights for about 5 weeks, what isometric exercises can i do to keep me moderately in shape in the time i cant work out?

any feedback would ben greatly appreciated, thanks

  • @xxpreoxx Do nothing and wait for your wrist to heal. Most people are overtraining anyway.

  • i know nothing on isometrics, i train with normal weights, therefore please do not laugh at my questions.

is there any concept of sets in isometric training. it appears not? You just change things up and hold. can u apply it to normal weight training exercises. like holding the bar for 5-10 secs midway in a bench press rep?

  • you can do a few sets for sure, but don't do em for more than 2 weeks if they're max effort iso's - they'll fry your nervous system and you'll just be dead and have no energy after.

  • @madhatter786 Look up Static Contraction Training.

  • do you ever do isometrics against an unmovable object?

  • yes you can, they are draining on the nervous system, so only do em for a few weeks

  • @ericwongmma

isometric exercizes are for build strength right?

  • may i ask what are the benefits for these isometric push ups?

  • Isnt that more of a static hold than isometrics? I think of isometrics as pushing against an immovable object. Using a strap or something to limit your movement to the mid range position, then pushing with full contraction against it would be more of an isometric exercise in my mind. That would build strength. Seems to me your movement would be more aimed at holding off lactic acid buildup for longer. Correct me if im wrong.

  • poo man is strong

  • dont push up with palms do them with fists. Useing palms can cause damage to your wrists. fists strenghen your wrists

  • solid!
