@yoldashh It does, since hardened sebum and white heads are a part of the production in your skin. It's gonna be reduced to a level equal to a baby's production of sebum. Which means you'll be cleaner than people who never had acne. :)

I don't recommend anyone taking this drug,it's pure poison.Trust me those commercials they talk about where people get IBD and ulcerative colitis is real.Sure you think it's liquid gold,a magic pill that works over night,it shrivels up your organs inside (liver,intestines,colon,etc.) You may think it's all fine and dandy while your taking and you seem fine and healthy,give it time the symptoms will eventually show.Take it at your own risk. You may be desperate for a fix,but there's other ways.

IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) and ulcerative colitis is the same thing by the way there's only two types of IBD and that is Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease. There's not that high of a percent chance that you're going to get Ulcerative Colitis, maybe 10,000 in the billions of people who take accutane will get it, but thats less than a 1% chance. Any severe side effects are unlikely, doens't mean they won't happen though.
@JoVaLu88 On a side note, accutane saves many people from depression and suicide, acne in general causes depression, did you also know that accutane is used for treating cancer? It's a miracle drug, but you are very idiotic. It doesn't work overnight, it takes 6 months for a full course to work, and it doesn't always work. After you finish your course the effects of accutane stay in your body for up to 6 months after, so anything you get after that was probably not caused by accutane.

I think I am going to start Accutane in the fall of 2012. I haven't been to a dermatologist in 10 years and the stuff they gave me then didn't work. I hope when I do go to a derm and explain what I want they wont try to put me on something else. I have cyctic acne. I'm 28 and don't know what clear skin is since the age of 12

@xusmc95x I have been drinking just as normal and my dermatologist said no problems whatsoever with drinking , BUT make sure you consult your personal dermatologist or doctor before you do.
There doesn't even appear to be any scarring. Seeing your success gives me optimism. My acne isn't as bad/concentrated as yours, but it is VERY persistent and all over the place. . .

I was amazed that there weren't any scars either! Visible ones, anyway. Even if there were, this is only a five month span and they already healed that greatly. I guess the trick is to just leave your skin alone.

@tilliez Accutane only effects pregnant women if they get pregnant while ON accutane, not if you get pregnant later on down the track after you've finished accutane. And for the ruins your skin, I've never heard that.

@jiji309 hey, my dermatoligist told me for the first 6 weeks of accutane it will get worse before it gets better. after that improvements will start. so dont give up, make sure you always vist your dermatologist to check on you.
Yeah the stuff works. I got the worst chapped lips though and very dry skin. It was great, but then I was one of the 10% who gets acne again but I only went back on it for like 2 months which isnt a huge deal but I definitely recommend it.
Hey man, you mentioned that you worked out while on accutane? Did your doctor recommend not to take whey protein. I'm a bodybuilder and having a hard time finding a diet that will supplement my protein needs. Any advice?
@jdjbarnat I'm just finishing the treatment, have had great results and I have been eating weightgainer and working out the whole time. My doctor has never mentioned a problem with eating protein.
And to anyone else, Isotretinoin = Accutane works beautifully. Haven't had any complications except some dryness in the skin and lips. Good luck :P

You shouldn't have been prescribed Accutane. Idiots like you and your dermatologist got it banned. Accutane was never supposed to be prescribed for anyone but those with severe disfiguring acne but every fucking moron doctor wrote a prescription for anyone who passed through their clinic with any kind of acne.

Number 2, there have been a few cases where Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease) have been caused by Accutane and the patient sued and lost the case. There have been countless other cases where there are terrible permanent side effects.
@MrsRightification And you are Naive. Accutane is not for "general cases" which this person has. It is a very powerful drug with potentially severe side effects only to be prescribed in serious cases.
It was circumstances like this that drug was banned. Every stupid teenager who woke up with a pimple and went to the dermatologist and got this drug is to blame because they couldn't stand going to class with a single blemish.
Only .001% of acne cases was supposed to get this treatment.

I'm on my 4th month and I don't work out because I have been having sore muscles in my back from the pills, not enough to hurt really bad but enough if I were to do heavy lifting. I'm just going to start my re work outs after the cycle. What I'm trying to say is you might have some sore muscles which is common or you might not have any at all. Depends on your body type. i changed my generic to amnesteem, the strongest of them all, im on my fourth month before amnesteem i was on claravis. The acne in my problem areas(the chin, and below the noes are very clear. But im still breaking out in other places. Will this go away eventually?
My brother and I took accutane 10 years ago and it worked so well! My skin was clear for like 5-6 years after and his still is. Nicomide is really good for maintenance, it's not harsh either. I've had no side effects. I wish I could get back on accutane for awhile! Glad to hear your experience was a success!

I just got started on accutane and so far it's working! I'm on 40 mg which is a dosage where you won't get serious side effects just dry skin. My dermatologist told me the highest and serious side affects is 120 mg

I was on accutane for a few months but my skin didn't get fully cleaned up. I asked the dermatologist to prescribe me more and I really just practically begged him, but he says that accutane is only for severe cases. I usually have a little acne, but sometimes I have pretty bad breakouts.Is there any way for me to get accutane again so I can finish up? it really helped me and I really want at least 1-3 months more of it. Do you think another dermatologist will prescribe it to me?
i had really bad acne, used accutane about 3 years ago now and it worked great i havnt had a pimple since. i still have a few scars but i can live with that :) if you have pimples some advice i can give is DONT pop them!!! i cant stress that enough! accutane will get rid of your pimples but not scars.

@jiji309 hey, my dermatoligist told me for the first 6 weeks of accutane it will get worse before it gets better. after that improvements will start. so dont give up, make sure you always vist your dermatologist to check on you.

Yeah the stuff works. I got the worst chapped lips though and very dry skin. It was great, but then I was one of the 10% who gets acne again but I only went back on it for like 2 months which isnt a huge deal but I definitely recommend it.

Hey man, you mentioned that you worked out while on accutane? Did your doctor recommend not to take whey protein. I'm a bodybuilder and having a hard time finding a diet that will supplement my protein needs. Any advice?

@jdjbarnat I'm just finishing the treatment, have had great results and I have been eating weightgainer and working out the whole time. My doctor has never mentioned a problem with eating protein.
And to anyone else, Isotretinoin = Accutane works beautifully. Haven't had any complications except some dryness in the skin and lips. Good luck :P

About how long into your accutane journey did you start seeing results, like the whiteheads and redness go away. Im on accutane right now and i just got done with month 1. And my chin has atleast 12 whiteheads. I need all the support i can get, thank you

@theoffspring19 You get dry, but thats not really a problem. The worst part is the "initial breakout" where you get worse before you get better, happens to everyone. But it's allllll worth it in the end.

@theoffspring19 im almost done with month three, its not as bad as some make it out to be, just carry chapstick whereever you go. also your spine might be achy, dont worry aout the side effect list, ddepressed people get pimples too, theyre on accutane and its like their "excuse" for suicide. they have to list every single possible side effect or they could be liable for any law suit, but ts been around for 40 years, if it was that bad they wouldnt sell it. think of it like kemo for ur skin

I'm on my 13th Day 20mg/Day and I don't really have to say anything. Couple of new breakouts and extremely dry lips. I hope it'll get better soon, cuz my life is like hell with this stupid acne.
For everyone. I've found the best product to treat your lips while on accutane:
VASELINE!!!!! It's awesome my lips are totally normal since I use Vaseline every 2 hours a day. Try it !!

wow at the start it looked like u rubbed ur face with nettals or something but it healed up really well , fair play to u lad , i have had acne for about 3 years now id say and only now it is starting to go but i still got red marks from the scaring, will accutane get rid of the red marks from the scars

I took accutane and now have ulcerative colitis! Trust me I thought my acne was terrible now I have a disease that I will NEVER be able to get rid of, which is so much worse than my acne! You should reconsider taking the meds (those who haven't yet). Although it did wonders for my face and back...it now threatens my life and stops me from having one alot of days! I hope it doesn't do the same for you!

You shouldn't have been prescribed Accutane. Idiots like you and your dermatologist got it banned. Accutane was never supposed to be prescribed for anyone but those with severe disfiguring acne but every fucking moron doctor wrote a prescription for anyone who passed through their clinic with any kind of acne.

@JonathonTheAsshole You're actually right though Jonathontheasshole. Accutane is only for extremely severe cases. Why? because number 1, you have to sign a waiver. That's bad sign number 1. Number 2, there have been a few cases where Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease) have been caused by Accutane and the patient sued and lost the case. There have been countless other cases where there are terrible permanent side effects.

@MrsRightification And you are Naive. Accutane is not for "general cases" which this person has. It is a very powerful drug with potentially severe side effects only to be prescribed in serious cases.
It was circumstances like this that drug was banned. Every stupid teenager who woke up with a pimple and went to the dermatologist and got this drug is to blame because they couldn't stand going to class with a single blemish.
Only .001% of acne cases was supposed to get this treatment.

im surprised i found someone close to a face as bad as mine. my face is swollen on both sides. its barley acne anymore its practically cysts. ive got bad miscoloration and a tap on the face feels like i got kicked instead. i just started accutane last week. wish me luck.

Now I have Ulcerative Colits a disease which I will have the rest of my life! I know you think it is worth it...whatever will get rid of the acne but I promise you it's not! Accutane's side effects are not worth it! Also here I am 8 yrs later and acne is back!

IF YOUR SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING YOUR ACNE CLEARED UP FAST THEN LISTEN TO ME PLEASE, i myself am on accutane and honestly i love it ive been on it for about 2 and 1/2 months and my face is showing amazing improvement! if u want clear skin then ask your doctor about accutane this is the drug that will seriously work, most side affects are blown way out of porportion like depresson i feel fine, the only thing that sucks about it is that ur skin gets dry and u get nosebleeds. more in my next comment

I'm on my 4th month and I don't work out because I have been having sore muscles in my back from the pills, not enough to hurt really bad but enough if I were to do heavy lifting. I'm just going to start my re work outs after the cycle. What I'm trying to say is you might have some sore muscles which is common or you might not have any at all. Depends on your body type. Hope I helped.

i changed my generic to amnesteem, the strongest of them all, im on my fourth month before amnesteem i was on claravis. The acne in my problem areas(the chin, and below the noes are very clear. But im still breaking out in other places. Will this go away eventually?

My brother and I took accutane 10 years ago and it worked so well! My skin was clear for like 5-6 years after and his still is. Nicomide is really good for maintenance, it's not harsh either. I've had no side effects. I wish I could get back on accutane for awhile! Glad to hear your experience was a success!

I just got started on accutane and so far it's working! I'm on 40 mg which is a dosage where you won't get serious side effects just dry skin. My dermatologist told me the highest and serious side affects is 120 mg

Hey, I'm on 1 month 26 days with accutane.
In the beginning of it, it was working amazing!! my dermatologist said i was seeing improvements where I should of been seeing them 3 months not 1.
Lately and I mean the past 2 and a half weeks I've been getting breakouts...is this normal?

I was on accutane for a few months but my skin didn't get fully cleaned up. I asked the dermatologist to prescribe me more and I really just practically begged him, but he says that accutane is only for severe cases. I usually have a little acne, but sometimes I have pretty bad breakouts.Is there any way for me to get accutane again so I can finish up? it really helped me and I really want at least 1-3 months more of it. Do you think another dermatologist will prescribe it to me?

i had really bad acne, used accutane about 3 years ago now and it worked great i havnt had a pimple since. i still have a few scars but i can live with that :) if you have pimples some advice i can give is DONT pop them!!! i cant stress that enough! accutane will get rid of your pimples but not scars.
